  1. I believe that is a handwritten received date b/c it looks like 7/64, which matches the release in July '64. It should not impact the grade with the overall condition of the book. I have found predicting yellow cover grades can be hard. They do a good job of hiding defects. 7.0/7.5 seems about right here though.
  2. I can see this pressing to 9.0, maybe 9.2. A few grades lower now
  3. The front looks 9ish. I'd like to see the back get a full cleaning. I don't think you can lose the glue residue (I would have been tempted to leave the tag), but I don't see this going lower than 7.0/7.5. I'd send this in the unlimited tier with a declared value at least for the FMV of an 8.0. Part of the calculation here is FMV vs replacement cost. If you were to go shopping for an 8.0 now, the cheapest on ebay is around $2K whereas some FMV calculations might come in couple hundred dollars below that.
  4. The thumbprint probably isn't a big deal with the accumulated other defects. The little drip thing is likely to be ID'd as a stain & it's rather dark. 5.5/6.0 probably the latter, but they can come down hard on cover staining.
  5. 7.5/8.0 unless there's some reason to go easier on the top edge.
  6. Please read the Usage Guidelines posted in big red letters at the top of the forum & edit your post accordingly. Otherwise, this query belongs elsewhere like the Grading & Restoration Issues forum.
  7. This should be asked in the Grading & Restoration issues forum. This area follows guidelines linked in big red letters at the top of the thread page
  8. right where I was when .5s reply was logged
  9. Provided the white areas aren't hiding some minor defects, as if sometimes can, 9.4. 9.6 on a good day
  10. This looks darn close to my copy (8.0). The top edge on mine is a little rough but I'm seeing a possibility of some spottiness in the lighter blue close to the STERANKO. If that's nothing 9.0/9.2, if it is something 8.0/8.5
  11. 4.0/4.5 The staining is unsightly & CGC hates stains
  12. 8.0/8.5 The slight fraying is what I see. Looks like CGC isn't quite as hard on this as other defects, so it might slide in just under NM
  13. 1.8/2.0. 2.0 seems like a stretch, but the piece out of the cover wouldn't preclude being in the 2s, it's just a question of how hard the chucks out of the inner wraps are dinged. I can see if tipping either direction depending on who's doing the grading. If you lurk around long enough, you can find CGC graded books with 2s & 3s that seem to have no business being graded that high to this collector's eye.
  14. There's a lot they won't say for some reason. I'd like to see a solid non GA-key with a fully split spine & no other defects. With most of these floors & ceilings described in their book, they appear to be talking about a flawless book with 1 major defect. I would be shocked if there were more than a handful, if any, comics that had their spine fully split & somehow escape any other bumps & bruises. i.e. I think we'd have to intentionally damage & submit the book for grading to test how strongly they adhere to their published standards
  15. 7.0 give or take. Stain hurts as otherwise it would be a few grades higher.
  16. 1.8 is the max for a fully split spine according to CGC's book
  17. second the need for better images. Higher res & with better lighting
  18. Please go read the instructions thread linked by the big red letters at the top of the forum
  19. some surface wear & light scratches (scuffs). I'd guess 7.5, but wouldn't be surprised by going a little higher or lower depending on how much accumulated light wear is handled.
  20. I agree with 3.5. Could have gone 4.0 without the staining. 3.0 is in the discussion, but I think it should go higher.
  21. yellow covers are quite hard to grade by images. They can hide a lot. I see what appear to be some stress lines, maybe a crease TCFC. There appears to be foxing along the spine on the BC. 7.5 give or take. Grading depends on your goals. For a personal collection, sure. It's hard to recoup the cost of grading if you're selling unless the grade is exceptional or it's a massive key. Usually, it's closer to break even as far as profit selling raw vs. graded.
