  1. I may be a grump but I really try my best to be fair and open minded.
  2. I honestly don’t recall why I found customer service rude specifically. I just remember that being my overall impression. I thinks it’s cool that MCS responded and addressed all the problems I had all those years ago. It sounds like improvements have been made and perhaps I can start ordering again. It’s always nice to have another option for books. Obviously I’m in the minority with my previous bad experiences.
  3. Yes it was through the MyComicShop.com website directly. It’s been around a decade since I ordered from them. I don’t doubt others great experiences but my experiences weren’t.
  4. My experience with them is completely different. It’s been years since I’ve ordered from them though. It’s been years because not only were most of my packages damaged from their Saran Wrap from Hell, the ones that weren’t damaged from their packaging method were very clearly over graded. Near Mint Books shouldn’t have any creases let alone color breaking creases. I contacted them via email and was told rudely to return the books for a refund & I had to cover the return shipping. Not saying every single order was over graded or damaged due to their packaging but I’d say 60-70% were. It was the rude service I got that sealed the deal though. I switched to Midtown who have had some issue with the same things. Obviously not the Saran Wrap but not packaged the best and some over graded stuff as well. What sealed the deal with Midtown is they not only adjusted there packaging but also were always pleasant when communicating any issues with them. They also never ever made me ship a book back if it was their fault. Just sent me a new copy or refunded me. Honestly I’m very very picky with my comics. If it’s not as described/pictured or was packaged poorly and damaged I’m going to complain and return said items on the sellers dime.
  5. I know an easy way to clear up all the confusion. The first thing would be for CGC to list detailed grading definitions. Instead of the, “if it has one small defect it’ll Grade this or 2 small defects and it’ll grade that”. Give detailed grading definitions and stick to those. Overstreets been around forever and have long established, and in detail the industry standards. It baffles me that CGC doesn’t give detailed grading definitions. Unless I’ve overlooked that information. The second thing CGC could do to end confusion and be accurate would be to get rid of Qualified Green Labels and grade the book for what it actually is. Not what it would be if it didn’t have a major defect like missing pieces or pages. I strongly believe that following long established industry grading definitions is the only way to do it. An incomplete book is always a low grade regardless of what the rest of the book looks like in my eyes. Also this “relaxing” of grading definitions on older books is bs. Grading Definitions should be applied uniformly no matter the age of the book. I saw a 9.8 on ebay that had off white to white pages. How’s that possible?
  6. In his defense, you may have missed the post but he did state the issue the buyer complained about was shown in one of the pics. A link to the listing would immediately answer any and all questions though. I’ve never banned or blocked anyone. Though honestly a few sellers have blocked me because I want what I paid for and not some damaged trash because they couldn’t be bothered to package properly.
  7. Just won these tonight, I was the only bidder and spent well under $20 including shipping. I love getting cheap newsstands.
  8. You know I knew that but had gotten so used to only seeing people complain about buyers. It’s amazing that so many, even with years of experience don’t know how to properly package books. I’d say at least 40% of what's shipped to me is In someway not packaged properly and gets damaged.
  9. Is there a thread for bad sellers? I get a fair amount of sellers who don’t know how to package or ship and when the books finally get to you there trashed because the seller thought throwing them in an oversized box with absolutely no protection or fillers to avoid the books shifting around was a great shipping method. Or just in a plain manilla envelope. Or they cram 21 bagged & boarded Bronze Age hulks including 2 35 cent variants into a padded flat rate envelope. Usually their response is rude, along with saying they ship this way all the time and have never had any issues. I run across bad sellers a lot more than bad buyers.
  10. Having your books professional pressed is actually a bad thing in terms of conservation. It speeds up the decaying of the comic and shortens it’s life drastically.
  11. What part of the entire inside and uncoated side of your boards being acid producing don’t you understand? What part of having to replace these boards every few years for them to be safe is not penetrating your thick skull? There a fraction cheaper, don’t work long term and need to be replaced constantly how is this a cheaper alternative to actual archival supplies?
  12. To me price is irrelevant. Was the damage disclosed in the description or pics? If not I’d return it myself and the seller would pay the return shipping. I wouldn’t threaten negative feedback though.
  13. Your boards are coated on one side and the insides and opposite sides a hot mess. Don’t compare you’re non archival quality boards to archival quality and proven ones. It’s ridiculous. I also was using your brand for my new books but no longer.
  14. Your backing boards are . Without a doubt utter trash. How is it affordable if you have to switch them out every few years? Not even considering your backing boards are about the same price as E Gerbers.
  15. That way when the newspaper rips during shipping it can finish the journey bouncing around. The plastic bag is not only stronger but waterproof.
  16. Nice books but this is a thread on Modern Newsstands which those aren’t. Still nice though.
  17. They will designate it as a newsstand if it’s got a different price than the direct edition. There’s other reasons they will but that’s the main one.
  18. Yeah I was going to say I have some Wolverines that have Display Until Dates of Late December of 2013. So there should be a few more as already stated.
  19. He wasted all those millions on that stupid baseball.
