  1. No - it's the Larson copy (water stain on spine). My photograpy skills are poor (too much flash residue on this image) - the picture doesn't nearly do the book justice - I'll repost a better image the next time I have the book in hand. STEVE Got Larson?
  2. Any guess who drew the cover? STEVE Got Larson?
  3. Wowzers Win, I can't compete with that...very nice presentation (I'd love to see that copy out of its tomb!). May I ask if it's a small or large logo label, and what is the page quality? STEVE Got Larson?
  4. Here's the first Blue Beetle cover - this book is rather scarce IMHO: STEVE Got Larson? (yes, indeedy)
  5. I got some books out of that ad also....what were we paying, Steve, $15-20 a book? jon I thought they were in the $25 to $40 range (wish I had kept the ad). When Music was later asking for $100+ per book, there was no way I could have afforded that in those young and lean years. Of course, I now wish I had bought them all! STEVE
  6. Good Question - there's a pencil squiggle 3/5 the way down on the right edge, but it's not the typical "M" we're used to. I dunno... a spastic moment for the author of the mark perhaps? I recall being offered the "Allentown" copy of Zip 9 (classic cover). That book - for some unknown reason - has a strange pencil notation in the 'Z' on the cover. Frankly at the time I had never heard of an Allentown Zip, nor of any Allentowns with writing on the cover, so I called Payette and described the book. He remembered and immediately confirmed it, so I did make the purchase. I only have a handful of NS, but they are all very conistent in quality and presentation. STEVE Got Larson?
  7. Thanks Ryan - glad you're enjoying them! Over 25 years collecting GA. Lotsa hard work and lotsa luck (e.g., I just recently stumbled into the National 7 - it was the only superhero book that the elderly owner had left - which he had kept because it was his favorite). It's been a great ride so far. STEVE Got Larson?
  8. Jon, I shall pray that you get the Mile High copy one day so that I can obtain this rare book from you - it's a stunner. STEVE Got Larson?
  9. OK, OK - here's the most unworthy FOURTH best known copy (grumble, grumble) of the classic WonderWorld 8: (just kidding - I love this book) STEVE Got Larson? (nope, sold it - but Nova Scotia is always nice to visit)
  10. Truly incredible, RHG! STEVE Got Larson (not here - I don't own a single Chesler)
  11. Here's a bit more of a background on the Claire Moe books as I now recall: I supposedly was the first to call J&S Comics when I saw their ad in CBG circa 1983. They told me the books came from "his" daughter (I've heard others assume "Claire" is a female), who was handling his estate. I didn't know J&S at the time, and had only limited funds, so I picked out and purchased 10 books... and waited. When I rec'd them, I was floored. Great books, but again cream (or even some interior cover browning) on the inside. The grading and pricing were right on. I hurriedly called J&S back and the books were all gone. Later, I heard of a fellow named Michael Music who was peddling the books for multiples of Guide, which I couldn't afford at the time. I've sold a few of them over time - notably the Amazing Mystery Funnines 2/12 (1st Space Patrol - ouch) and the Funny Pages 38 (double ouch) - but do relish the ones I still have. Here are two more: Note that the KDF has a Joe Simon cover... STEVE Got Larson?
  12. We're collectively putting together a nice run of New Comics, fellas - thanks for the scans (I enjoyed them all). Two Lost Valley copies: STEVE Got Larson?
  13. I can only play this game once. I'm now out of ammunition. Well that's one heck of a single shot, jkrk. Regretably, I sold my copy (a glossy Fine with white pages) to Billy "Lost in Space" Mumy many years ago for the princely sum of $500. Do you know the book? Perhaps - at San Diego several years ago, Goldman may have had that same book. It had great pages, but a small split seal so I foolishly passed on it when he wouldn't adjust the price. Look at the pages carefully for a few check marks - I thought it was the Cosmic Aeroplane copy. Note: I don't own any New Adventure books, but would certainly like to. STEVE Got Larson?
  14. Win that is a beautiful #24. The pages look bone white. Is it a pedigree? Lovely book, Win - did you happen to purchase it within the last few years (from Motor City, perhaps)? STEVE Got Larson?
  15. What impresses me about this New 5 is that the few other copies I've seen have discoloration fade on the front cover (as if it is unstable). Peter, to your knowledge is that true for this title - first 6 issues - or maybe just this particular issue? STEVE Got Larson?
  16. What's truly depressing is that I own a pedigree (Nova Scotia) copy of WonderWorld 8...and it's the worst of the bunch (har!). STEVE Got Larson? (in this particular case, I don't)
  17. Paull, I have never seen a Dynamic 8 in person - I know, because I would have purchased it instantly. That's a very nice looking 3.5! STEVE Got Larson?
  18. Well, let's see (putting detective cap on)...Berk owns the Mile High, a buddy of mine has the Larson, I own the Nova Scotia so it's...it's....Allentown? (OK I cheated, I see the Allntwn in the image code). She's a real beauty... STEVE Got Larson?
  19. I'm envious, Win - very nice. Mike Music...now there's a name from the past. The Claire Moe books are structurally very sound, and the books tend to be unusually attractive. The one flaw with them (if we can call it that) is that the insides are often cream. STEVE Got Larson?
  20. BTW, I do like that Man of War 2...the goofyness of the cover is kind of appealing. I can't resist, so one more Centaur for a late night snack - this is another tough book. STEVE Got Larson? (not here, but we are in New Hampshire territory - slight resto, but bone white interiors)
  21. Har! (good one, Win). Make no mistake, JB is Big Daddy and I am Diaper Boy. STEVE Got Larson?
  22. Your patience and guidance was very much appreciated. STEVE Got Larson?
  23. That 2/5 is from the estate of artist Claire Moe ("Circus and Sue" in this title). I picked up a handful of books circa 1983. Going to watch the second half of the USC - Arizona, so this will be it for today (enjoy). Church... Not a pedigree per se, but very close to Church in quality and appeal (I used to own the Church copy at one time): STEVE Got Larson?
  24. Thank You! OK, last one - the orgy is about to end (as Austin Powers said, "I'm spent"). In my hobby travels over the years, Marvel Mystery 4 consistently is one of the most popular books out there: STEVE Got Larson? ("He shoots.....he scores!!!")
