  1. I was referencing the ComicLink sale for $210k for ASM 1 9.2. The auction did not meet the reserve price so it did not sell.
  2. I was really bored recently and decided to go way, way back in this thread - all the way back to 2015 or so - just to see what conversations have been like over the past decade. Funny how the conversations have not really changed that much - where prices are, speculation, predictions, impact of marvel chipping, validity of various auction houses, etc etc etc. One thing that caught my eye was a chart from April 2017 that broke down how many Universal graded copies were in the census. In April 2017 it stood at 1,653 copies - in January 2023 we are at 2,403 - a 45% increase. So in the first 17 years of the census they graded 1,653 and have done 750 in the past six years. That is an average of just under 100/year in the first 17 years to around 125/year these past six. The 2017 chart doesn't have actual numbers by grade but I eyeballed them to create a comparison by grade. The most growth was in grades 2.5 and under (50-70% increases) but all grades under 6.0 grew by over 30%. Even 8 and 8.5 grew around 30%. Again - I had to guess the 2017 numbers but this gives a directional sense of how many books have been added by grade.
  3. Thanks for this - realized that several books from the Promise auction were missing including two Phantom Lady. And lots of other books were really close
  4. Here are Session 1A and 1B results for the January ComicLink Focused Auction. Given the volume of books in Session 3 and 4....I will probably not do much of a recap. If I do it will really be just a few highlights. Also note that GPA just updated to the 2022 average so there is not much of a spread between 12 mos and 2022 average. I should have put 2021 average instead but was too far along before I really thought about it...will try to compare to 2021 average in the next auction or two. Enjoy the weekend.
  5. take Avengers 146 $10Avengers 178 $5Avengers 189 $5Avengers 200 $10 The Thing 1 $5 Astonishing Tales 31 $5
  6. Again- reserve not met so technically not a sale. But serious intent by at least two bidders
  7. My eye is so trained to skip everything after the standard universal grade number.....I inaccurately assumed that "signed by" in GPA meant it was a yellow label. Learn something new everyday.
  8. Now that is interesting - that sale is NOT showing up in GPA. And Heritage usually has their sales up in GPA in less than 48 hours. I was recently an underbidder on a Heritage book and offered the chance to buy when winner backed out - when I didn't buy the book was removed from their sales history for a future auction. That would imply this sale did go through. Anyone have an idea why this is not in GPA?
  9. Turns out that the ASM 9.2 $210k sale DID NOT MEET THE RESERVE - so no sale. Given how strong the result was would be very curious what the reserve number was.....
  10. So this is a combo post - impact of grade quality, difference in Heritage vs Clink, market overall, and limits of GPA. Two books that both just had sales with the two auction houses - one book within 24 hours of the other. First Spider-Man #129 in 9.8: The Heritage result was 56% better. The Clink was lowest sale since May 2021 - Comiclink on 1/16 with OW/W PQ and not a great wrap - $20k - Heritage on 1/12 with W PQ and nice wrap - $31.2k Incredible Hulk #1 5.5: The Comiclink result was 51% better. The Clink was a rebound from late 2022 but still below Summer 2022 results. The kicker here is the Clink result will NOT show up in GPA and the Clink results will disappear after the auction concludes. So when you look at GPA in the coming months there will be no record of this strong result. - Comiclink on 1/16 with W PQ and great centering - $47k - Heritage on 1/15 with OW PQ and a bit of a miscut - $31.2k
  11. Amazing Spider-Man #1 9.2 - Comiclink 1/16/23 - $210k. Significantly above a June 2022 Heritage sale of $168k. UPDATE - Clink says reserve net met. Given the last two sales what kind of reserve number did they have?
  12. And the 5.5 on Clink just closed at $58k. David Parsow collection.
  13. GPA has 6 sales in 2022 - I was tracking 8 total inclusive of CL. 1 so far in 2023. The two additional I had was a $67.2k sale in August (Goldin - see image below) and then a $63.6k sale in November (Clink). I might have missed something somewhere......
  14. Given the amount of crack, clean, press, and resubmit that goes on - and the fact that some portion of those resubmissions do not send back the old labels or otherwise note the prior CGC number when submitting (people worried it will influence the new grade) - anyone got a guess as to how overstated the CGC census might be? Probably an unknowable fact and probably varies by book - but curious if anyone had a gut feel. As an example, there are 13k Universal Hulk 181s on the census. Would you think that 1-2% of those are resubmits without acknowledgment of prior grade?
  15. Here is an update to my AF15 tracker (note I have been tracking sales that don't show up in GPA as well like Clink). The rate of decline looks like it is slowing down / flattening for these grades. I added 5.5 to the chart capture the sentiment in the last post. All these grades are down 40-50% from their first 2022 sale (which is also the historical peak sale for 5.5, 3.0 and 2.5 ) except for 3.5. Even throwing out the last $36k sale for a 3.5 it is only down 30%. That one $100k sale of a 5.0 in June still stands out as odd - it's messing up my chart But it is still sitting in the GPA data (June 29th)
  16. I did this before I realized you had recapped. But here is a snapshot of some of the "bigger" books. I also recapped all the books over $100k in Six Figure Club thread (with photos if interested)
  17. Just missed.....last copy sold for $120k back in June 2022
  18. And because the past IH181 9.8's were heavily discussed here......this OW/W fell way short of prior
  19. From the Jan 12th Heritage Signature.... Seeing more softening in these big books - Batman #1 1.8, Superman #1 5.0, and TOS #39 9.2 all down from their 2022 sales (the last TOS #39 9.2 sold for $168k vs 108k today). X-men #1 9.0 was down a bit too from last but flat with a Aug 2022 sale.
  20. Technically this thread is capturing anything over six figures….the sevens just don’t happen that often. And there should be at least 5 more books added today from the Heritage Signature auction. What will be interesting is to see if the IH181 9.8 eclipses 100k again - it is sitting at 52k with live bidding in less than 4 hours
  21. Adding two books that were in a Comic Link promotional brochure that I had missed earlier....
