  1. to be honest...maybe at 1/2 price I would get excited buying a copy... it always seems to be available in the market...there is little challenge in obtaining a copy, and in a cgc case, the cover is kind of "bland/generic"... still a favorite of mine, just not a lot of excitement procuring one interesting if that is the majority feeling of the masses? Outside of those that hail the first told origin as a grail (which normally is a big deal in comics). Agreed though, it doesn't have the jolting power of a 29/31 cover that grabs one. The balance of supply and demand is interesting. Everything is quite available at the right price in our Internet society. Rick, comment, if you will, on the following assessments. I'm not really looking at CGC census data but just my overall exposure to copies. Bat 1--decent supply, non stop demand, but at cyclical times no blue copies available for sale. Tec 33---probably less supply than Bat 1s, less demand than Bat 1, always available copies Tec 31-- rarer than 33s and Bat 1, non stop demand, not many blue copies to public market for several months to my knowledge Tec 29--tougher than 31s, high demand although prices seem to be not as crazy as 31s and 35s (did the over exposure of the BW copy affect FMV?), several low grade copies have surfaced for sale and traded hands privately the past year. Seems to be a lot of 3.0/3.5 copies circulating. Tec 35--people say its tough but I don't think it is at all. I say that loosely keeping in mind we aren't living in CBG/mail order/cons only days. Demand non stop and has been moving very strong FMV for several years now.
  2. this is the gold forum, but I just noticed a run of Marvel keys on second row on the rack that Spidey is selling --from left to right: FF4, FF5, FF9, FF8, FF14, ASM 2 and 8, Strange Tales 101 and ?, Hulk 3...and the row under that has a run of JIMs starting with 83 followed by TTA 35 and a few iron man TOS's. And does it appear the kid has iPhone ear buds in his left ear? That would be an old time hearing aid in the days before miniturization. I hadn't noticed that but it probably went to a battery pack you had to wear around your belt. Not exactly a comfortable arrangement. Some of the kid's on my son's soccer teams have hearing aids that are self contained and much less obvious. We have come a long way. Hats off to those in the medical community who keep pushing the improvements. Yeah I noticed the hearing aids myself as well - and they look like the ones I saw and occasionally wore growing up. They always got in the way, either with a belt clip or a chest harness. The new ones are much smaller thankfully. And digital as well! ah thanks for that info
  3. Rick, at what level does Tec 33 "excite" you? It's been passed by the 29 and 31 for a few years now and even the 35 sells for more. Full wingspan, gun holster, 1st told origin...obviously, in the age of CGC, it hasn't been a show stopping cover compared to the aforementioned.

  5. I've been known to hold books for a very long time---bought this 12 years ago today 2001 from Ed Jaster. My second copy and favorite Schomburg Cap cover.
  6. (thumbs u or a magician Or Vincent Z dress as a magician zatara!
  7. yah cool and the galactus bust was a new sight for me.
  8. 31 or 29 ? 31. 29 story slightly better though.
  9. Bat 1 beats them all. B & R swinging over Gotham on a canary yellow cover! Batman #1 > Tec #27 is not that crazy a statement. Due to rarity and the nature of hero > villain, Tec #27 will always be the top Batman book. But Batman #1 is far more socially relevant -- rumor has it Heath Ledger used the two Joker stories as source material to study from. I'm confident few studied the story of Batman in Tec #27 for much beyond seeing a "cool look" at the birth of the character. Batman #1 has four times the classic content, features two monumental 1st appearances and much more. FMV will never reflect the aforementioned, but it can be argued that Batman #1 is the superior book. A page from Bat 1 that keeps me high as a kite... Note the maniacal smirk on the J's face. Love that Splash! me too
  10. cool story. So were the books OO to the dad?
  11. Somewhere a little south of 2k, maybe? still has the cover, and despite CF out and slightly brittle pages, I'll wager $4k.
  12. George wasn't that your old copy? nope... It was mine. I sold it to the current owner almost 4 yrs ago and I had a chance to buy from you SDCC 2008 for $95k I believe was your asking. And me yes we were both there
  13. wonderful question... the 5 I have the most demand for are: Captain america 1 Great 3 MMC 46 (green worm ear) Real Life 3 Daredevil Battles Hitler again, those are not my 5 fav or even the 5 "best" , but those are the 5 comics I am most asked for at shows, etc, that feature hitler on cover Gator, Where does Mystic 7 and 9 fall in the Hitler cover demand in you opinion? Also, what's your take on the Destroyer Mystic covers from an investment perspective? 86celtics, are you on you tube under the same handle making all those cool videos of your books?

  15. Here's an alternate question---throw out the grades and tape on the books--- does that change anyone's decision? And I guess we have to throw out the ASM 1...heck, to even out the values, lets compare a 9.2 cap 1 vs a 3.5/4.0 Tec 27---that's about equal value wise I think.
  16. quite possible Peter. I guess I made my choice purely on love of the characters and the tec27 being the only one of the three I have never owned And I'm a timely guy
