The demand is definitely not endless, it's cyclical.  I've been buying collections actively in my local market (1.5 million) people for over 10 years.  There are substantially more buyers out there now than there were 3 years ago, and definitely 5 years ago.  It doesn't help that every major asset class on the planet is historically overvalued, and there is a growing market of 'investors' choosing these books over tangible assets like real estate and financial instruments.

guys like to collect things.. that's eternal

    ^Ouch

I know zero about screenplays and the like but even I would have put several hundred buck on it at least....was it a typo? Can ya blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol?

around $200... basically it's like selling a New Mutants 98 for $20 ... I could have gotten so much more but not GSX1 or Hulk 181 money lol.

Just saw this on ebay-is it legit?  whats the story?
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-BATMAN-DRAWINGS-1932/233346262463?hash=item36548565bf:g:sTMAAOSwyTtdcBVt

    Original Batman drawings 1932

The first original drawings of Batman were created by Frank Foster II in 1932 and presented to the publishers in New York City from 1937 to 1939. Full details and documentation may be seen on the website:
    s-l1600.jpg

people will see and notice what they want.. but seems legit.. if DC actually saw this and used it is another thing... If DC never came up with Batman back then I'm sure someone else would have in the 80 years

I recalled a score someone definitely got off me. About 8 years ago I helped a colleague sell some of his collection. In hindsight, I shoulda bought it but I was saving for a house and dropping $1500-2000 on comics wasn't quite in the cards. I helped him sell his collection and he had a Giant Size X-Men. At the time, it was a $175-250 book in the condition he had, around a 4.5-5.0. Someone today is happy they snagged it back then :)

I know a guy who got Hulk 181 9.0 raw via a second chance offer because the high bidder didn't pay.. this was years ago maybe a decade ago.. he paid like $260-300ish

If it’s much over a $100 I will sell on eBay to feel safe and all. Can’t say I sell enough though to say someone has had a big score from me.

Lots of smaller prices stuff I sell other ways because it’s cheaper and I don’t get hit with fees. Probably the best people have gotten off me are Thor 337. I used to buy for $2-5 and flip for $15-20 8-10 years ago. So those buyers are happy:)

Sold my high grade Thor 337s lower than they are now.. and i had a feeling about it, but they were overprinted

My best deal was over ten years ago.  Was watching a "lot of Incredible Hulks" with just one or two pictures of a scattered pile of several dozen.  Could see one little orange corner sticking out of the pile.  Was sitting at like $15.  Waited til end and one other person bid on it and I think thought the same thing, I threw 100 at it and got it for about $80.  Sure enough, had a 181 in fine with the stamp.  And a 102, 182, 141, and a few others, all vg or so.  Ended up keeping the keys and relisting, got about $25 out of it the rest.  So I've still got a 181, 182, 102 and 141 for about fifty bucks.  Not too shabby!

I hate when I get outbid because most of the time like in this scenario I wouldn't mind paying $81

  7. In the span of two months I acquired all 4 copies I have of Invincible #1... The CGC was local purchase on Craigslist for $300.. It was a very hasty deal as I was given a very vague location to meet at but for $300 thats a deal 9.8 Signed by Kirkman. The guy who sold it to me was an ebay seller who was selling mainly Image/Indie slabs (so it's also an ebay score!). Oh, the fourth came from an estate sale for .50 cents. I ended up selling the run for the same price I bought the lot for. Gotta love those buy it now auction lots ;)

My best scores were 5-10 years ago, and put these to shame (at least in terms of big collections found through eBay contacts), but here are a few of the single buys from the past year or so:

Cinderella Love 25: paid $325 in a romance lot, sold for $5000

    World's Best 1: paid $800, sold for $4200

    GSXM 1: paid $300, sold for $3800

Superman 14: paid $2500, it's about an 8.0, value is $12,000 or so. My favorite pickup, definitely a keeper.

Fudge those are great recent buys on feebay lol. Did you have them graded to actualize those high prices?

"This spike in price & sales is what happens when someone reports misinformation and other sites run with it. Recently, there was a reported post on Instagram allegedly from the production manager of THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER as well as WANDAVISION, who teased a picture of ULTIMATUM (which is really the acronym U.L.T.I.M.A.T.U.M: Underground Liberated Totally Integrated Mobile Army To Unite Mankind). This group has ties to Baron Zemo, Red Skull and M.O.D.A.K. With Zemo as the main villain in FALCON, this makes sense that he would potentially command this group. HOWEVER, a scooper shared his thought that this meant the MCU was potentially building towards incorporating the Ultimate Universe's "ULTIMATUM" into the upcoming MCU storyline.... Basically, this is bad spec. Regardless, misinformation still spreads stronger than the truth which is causing MCU fans to chase these down..."

I had one that I THOUGHT I was burned on.

TOS 39, sold to me raw as Fine, again back in 2002. $1200.

I got it, and there was a tear in the back cover. I contacted the seller and said I didn't think this was Fine. But he offered no return. I asked him to throw in a few extra comics to make up for some value... no.

He then on the 90th day after the sale, he left me HORRIBLE feedback. Said I was extorting him. I couldn't respond to his, since it was past 90 days. I was ripped. But, c'est la vie.

Fast forward to last year. Got the book CGC'd.

5.5 Universal. Sold for $8400. Worked out okay. :)

I bought a raw Hulk 180 for $20 that was really low grade, It was worse than what the seller had listed but I already knew it was a deal and wasn't worth the time to complain about it

PirateShip's pricing is higher than eBay or PayPal if you do enough business to get a shipping discount.  I wouldn't consider myself one of the bigger guys, but my last shipment is $7.23 (Priority Legal Flat Rate) or $8.65 (Regional Box A) on eBay versus $7.45/$8.92 on PirateShip.  If you're selling low margin, single issue comics this way, every penny counts.

What are you using for creating labels? Usually the lowest I pay for PLFR is $7.55.

The movie really projected the value of X-Factor 6 (and 5 to a lesser extent), but the argument here is that the books were always keys.  Everyone knew they were key books but collectors didn't put a ton of value to them because of their oversupply.  An important comic, nonetheless....

    dealers see X-Factor 6 as a $30 book at many shows I go to..but it's not bronze age ;)

No, the logo doesn't show up.  That would be cool, I think.  Although the postal service might not take kindly to it.

You can add a small custom message (text only) to labels called a "rubber stamp".  More info here: https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/1804193-what-are-rubber-stamps-and-how-do-i-use-them

Pirate Ship has made my life so much easier.. I like how the page shows all the details after purchase.. It's very clear.. and it's extremely easy to schedule a pick up vs the tiresome task of entering all the info in the USPS website.
