  1. 2.0 for me but great issue to have in your collection no matter the grade.
  2. Yeah I checked the waiver bit again after posting on here. However the comment by @joeypost has got me thinking. There’s no mention in any of the CCS info (that I can find) about wet cleaning or moisture being used in cleaning or pressing process. Also they specifically mention in their FAQ that CGC consider wet cleaning as restoration. I’m guessing the wet and dry cycle they mentioned is part of their pressing process but I’ll probably raise this with them when they eventually reply to my response to their email.
  3. 1st time using CCS. I thought they just dry cleaned and even that I thought was minimal. As I thought the main service was pressing. Lesson learnt the hard way sadly
  4. Thanks man. I’ve asked them if there will be any compensation but I’m pretty sure I know what their response will be, as I’m sure they’ll have covered themselves in their T&Cs.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion. I submit via CGC UK (I send my submissions to them in London and they send to Florida) so I think a US presser would only work if they can also submit to CGC. I got some cleaning supplies recently and have done a bit of practise on some low value comics and I was thinking of getting a press in the future, so I might just learn myself. I've told CCS I don't want it graded now and also asked them if work had started on my other comics (as if it hasn't I just want them to go directly to CGC). The other 3 comics were FF #6 (posted on here a while back), FF #67 (probably around a 6.0) and a very nice copy of Batman #181 that was from a Bat Pac so it was unread. I'm most concerned about the Batman #181 as that could be a big hit on value if it was to be damaged and dropped 2 points!
  6. @grendelbo@scburdet@MrRoboto@jcjames@Mars76@CJ Design@Galen130 Received this email from CCS today "I have some unfortunate news regarding your Silver Surfer #15 (4/70). Your book incurred some minor damage during pressing. The book had some color lift off between the wet and dry cycle on the back cover along the spine. This was just due to the book’s reaction to the process. Our CCS Operations Manager would like to know if you still want the book graded and slabbed? He said the book would have been a 9.0 but is now closer to a 7.0." I'm very upset about this, first time using CCS and I won't be using them again. In total I sent 4 comics to CCS and now i'm concerned about the other 3 (particularly as 2 of the 3 are much higher value). I would have used a different company but being a UK collector my options are limited (either no insurance or extremely long wait times). I've asked CCS to just send it back to me as I only sent it in as I was optimistic of a high grade. Absolutely gutted
  7. I’m thinking around a 4.0 with the tears around the staples and back cover. The front edges are very nice though so that may well pull it a bit higher, especially after a clean. Not sure whether it’s really worth pressing though and it can be more problematic as it’s a square bound issue.
  8. Just picked up this nice copy of #15 for my SS collection (2 issues to go to complete volume 1 ) What grade do you knowledgeable folks think this is? Thanks in advance.
  9. I think this looks like a really nice copy. If the C&P is done to a really high standard I could see this getting a 6.0. As is I think is around a 4.5, the majority of the issues do seem to be dirt/staining etc but I did notice the colour breaking crease on the front cover which knocked it down a fair bit for me. White covers are a nightmare for higher grades and I could see there being other issues which would be more apparent when viewing it in person.
  10. Had this comic on my want list for a while and finally pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago. It took a while but it arrived today! Think I will send this in (after I’ve finished reading it), what grade do you think it might get? Thanks in advance!
  11. Thanks man, yeah agree that a C&P would definitely be needed!
  12. Just scored a couple of dozen issues of early Silver Age DC comics. This issue is pretty cool as it’s the 2nd app of General Zod, 1st app of Bizarro Lex Luthor and the 1st team app of the Legion of Super Pets! In all likelihood I’ll keep this raw but I am currently putting a batch of comics together for my next submission so I might include it. Everything is attached/complete but there are obviously quite a few flaws. What grade do you guys think this would get? Thanks in advance!
  13. My instinct says 6.5 but it is a nice copy, so I could see it creeping up to FN/VF.
  14. I might be wrong but I’m pretty certain the panel cutout in your 4th photo is the Silver Surfer’s 1st appearance. Personally I’d sell it raw as I think it would get a 0.5 due to the amount missing. Also attached is the panel in which SS 1st appears, in case you want to check if it is actually present in your copy.
  15. Looks like a solid 6.0 to me. Nice copy
  16. 5.0 for me. It looks like a very nice copy and I wouldn’t be surprised if it got higher than my estimate. However the big tick by the top staple, wear to the spine, wear to top edge of front cover and tearing around the bottom staple internally are the main reasons for my grade.
  17. I’m a UK based collector and I also use comicspriceguide.com. There are loads of comics that they don’t show as having UK price variants. Just yesterday I was adding some Bronze Age Avengers Issues with Silver Surfer appearances. My issues are a mix of UK and US prices, but they don’t show any UK price variants. I just make a note on the individual comic edit sayings it’s a UK price. I’ve also posted some other SA UK price variants on this forum like ASM #4 and FF #6.
  18. I’d say 2.0 or 2.5 based on the cover alone. Would be good to see what condition the internal pages and staples are in, if you fancy updating your post with some extra pics. A clean and press would definitely be of benefit.
  19. @grendelbo @Bayowolf What do you guys think it would be if the bottom staple was fully detached? I’m pretty sure my Batman #171 had a partially detached staple when I sent it in, but the grader’s notes had it is fully detached. As such I think there’s a fairly strong chance of it becoming fully detached when I send it in. Thanks
  20. Not the biggest fan of Daredevil but I am a Spidey fan. This issue is John Romita Sr’s first work on Spider-Man and I’ve always like the cover. The bottom staple is giving me the most trouble with my own grading. It’s partially detached, in that it’s detached from the front cover but still attached to the back cover (is there a term for this?). I think I will send this comic in, but I am a little concerned the bottom staple could become fully detached during handling by CGC. Anyway over to you guys, what grade do you think this is? Thanks in advance!
