    Probably not.

Post-production staples are typically added to secure a loose cover, and blown staples are quite common on Silver Age DCs (even lightly-handled, otherwise high-grade specimens).  Look carefully at the inside spine (on both the front cover side and the back cover side) at the points where the two centermost staples (the original/production staples) penetrate.  Do you see any adhesive/glue or tape on the inside cover?

The tiny hole above the lowest staple gives me pause.

Interesting, thank you! I'll take a closer look and see if I can see any glue. I didn't notice any tape at all anywhere, and I feel like that would have been too obvious to miss, but I didn't look for glue.

That's probably same book I received and returned.  I think it's same book!!!  What a deja vu!

Wow! That's crazy!! I bought it today at a small show at the New Berlin, Wis. VFW Hall. Paid $7. That's amazing.

  3. Sorry to bump a nearly 5-year-old thread, but I bought a Cherry #11 today at a comic show, and the seller said there were no glasses with it. When I took the book out to re-bag it when I got home, it turns out there were a pair of glasses in it, but I was sure there was no way they could be original, so I started searching. Imagine my surprise to find this thread, and to see that I had the same glasses that @JollyComics showed in his first post... But now I'm more confused. Did the book not come with glasses? If not, why do copies seem to have these banana gorilla glasses included? This is weird. Mine is a 1st print:

  4. I got this really nice-looking Batman #152 for pretty cheap today ($10) because they said it had added staples (and it does have 4 staples). But these look to be really well done, in my non-experienced opinion. They're well aligned with the spine and very hard to notice. But in the center spread, they do kind of look different or maybe newer. Is there a chance this was done when manufactured, or is this just a pretty nice job of adding staples by someone after the fact? It's odd too because the book is nice and tight and complete, so I'm not sure why extra staples would have been needed... Either way, I'm happy to own it in the collection for $10, just looking for some info/opinions.

I played Ninja Gaiden endlessly as a kid.  I could pretty reliably limp my way to the final boss, but still have NEVER beaten him.  And if you ever die, you're sent so far back it's just demoralizing.  These kids and their save states they can use for quick and easy practice just don't know how hard it used to be.  :preach:

I did take my Nintendo to college in the early 2000's and DID finally beat Mike Tyson in Punch Out though.  :manhero:

Punch Out is still one of my all-time favorites - I have a Steam Deck handheld and I put RetroArch on it basically just so I could play Punch Out (and old Zelda games) on the go.
