My first batch of Pokémon cards just came back. Sent March 03, 2021, received June 14, 2021, standard tier (max value $1,000). Wafting on three more batches of cards. Now I have to figure out how to sell them.

I’m actually trying to complete a CGC 9.5 skyridge set, I’d be interested in the entire bottom row here. Let me know if you’d be open to discussing a price point for a few of these via direct message. If you’d rather just auction on PWCC or eBay just let me know so I know where and when to look for these lol.

    3) Charizard 39/165: not graded yet

    4) Crobat 147/144: 9.5

    5) Crobat H5/H32: not graded yet

    6) Dark Gengar 6/105: 9.0

    7) Articuno H3/H32: There were two of these. One graded 9.5, the other 9.0. I don't know which one this was.

I really hope you paid for sub-grades on such high end cards in such good condition! Subgrades will tell you why they got the grade they got as well.

  3. CGC -

Reconsider going back to the long shoe method of returning bulk (slabs stacked against one another snug in the long box). The new process of shipping the slabs with the individual cardboard slits provides 0 protection for the slabs and they are dinging each other up on their way back to us. Some of my slabs have blunt force dings, others have scratches, it's a mess.

Fortunately this go around I got abysmal grades on my entire Bulk submission so there's no need to re-holder any as I will just be selling these on PWCC, but going forward I'd like my slabs to be delivered in the pristine condition I'm accustomed to.

    Thanks,

I think what the gist is here is why isn't the prioritized stuff pulled, the box resealed and put in line behind everyone else's? Why is that order that has nothing to do with Ex or Wk getting pushed ahead of everyone else who's had stuff sitting there unopened for months? 42 business days of standard order unopened, yet seeing this post. What kind of impression do you think that leaves.

What happens when everyone sends in 1 Ex or Wk card to get their order opened faster shoving everyone that didn't farther and farther back in the line.

Your last paragraph... that’s literally what everyone is doing.

    Hey guys!

Been a while since I said much cause I hadn't had time because I was working on the last 2 Collections of my 2021 Pokemon Collections.

I'll reveal "Collection #3" another time when it's ready(oh boy can't I wait) but honestly I am a bit away from doing that.

I had to pause #3 because I had come across the rarest English Pokemon and I had to jump on this big time.

Waiting on a couple more items to come in before the reveal as well as sleeving/loading 1000+ cards from the Collection.

Whaaat? 1000+ doesn't sound rare- you wait ;)

    Update:

Here we go. What I dub as Gapless is commonly and badly referred to as 4th/UK Print, the confusing Base 2000 or stale 1999-2000 print of Base Set.

Here's some of my collection. Still waiting on the rest.

Hey man, just want to say it’s really cool that you enjoy this nuanced set this much and have been able to find so much of it. It’s clear you’re very passionate about collecting and you enjoy the journey which is what it’s all about, and I’m sure you’re far from finished! I appreciate you giving us a look into what you’ve been able to amass.

I am equally as passionate about early ex era, but mostly the reverse (stamp) holos, regular holos, ex’s, and gold stars. I buy way, way too much of it and thankfully my day job pays me enough money to support my early ex-era Pokémon polydipsia.

Keep hunting my dude, I know these aren’t easy to find that’s for sure. I also know the chase and what it’s like to want it all, and that ‘collector rush’. Hard to put into words but you pick up what I’m putting down. It’s a fun ride man. Catch ‘em all.

Similar to PSA, I think the majority of their business is in the sports card realm. I think this will have a bigger impact on CSG, where there will be a whole month or so where PSA and Beckett aren't available at all for sports card grading.

I assume this will tick up a bit for CGC, but I doubt there's a huge volume of graders who are opting for Beckett over CGC that wouldn't just hold out a month for PSA to open back up. Idk, but this one will likely not make a dramatic difference for CGC.

Did either PSA or BGS explicitly state they will be out only the next month or are people seeing what they want to see in these cleverly worded shutdown announcements? And isn't PSA going to trickle in tiers over time, starting with their $150/card Express tier?

Also, doesn't the Magic community heavily favor BGS? That could definitely impact CGC.

  7. https://www.beckett.com/news/beckett-announces-plans-for-2021-national/

    Starting June 7th:

Beckett will suspend all grading submissions other than our Premium Level. All orders that are submitted under the Express, Standard, and Economy level will be returned to the customer, ungraded. The reason behind this decision is simply to allow us to focus on the growing backlog we have and to get as many cards back to customers as possible, before the National. This is not ideal for anyone but something our competition has done. We now feel this is right the move for Beckett. Again, this is going to be temporary and something we believe will improve our availability for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022.

Is CGC next? What a wild industry card grading is.

Finally got a hold of customer service. Apparently they hadn't received payment from my previous walkthrough submission. Odd because I got the card back over a month ago and have 3 credit cards on file that all work. Nonetheless they were apparently holding this submission hostage without telling me lol. Seems like everything has been cleared up though and they have stated this will ship out within 48 hours. Very odd turn of events.

Same thing happened to me, and I still have no idea when I’m getting my shipment and no one can tell me.

    I hate card grading.

  9. Is there a minimum # of Express cards required in order to mark the package "EX" so that your package is opened sooner? Or can people just send in literally 1 Express card with a bunch of Bulk and then cut the line by 2 nearly months?

Assuming the minimum is 1 Express card, I see opportunity here to raise that minimum # to at least 5 Express cards per order in order to cut the package opening line, and using that extra revenue to improve their operation, i.e. hiring additional mailroom staff etc.

This of course assumes people are pounding this loophole, which in the ruthless rat race known as card grading, I assume people 100% are lol. lol

    Hahahahaha

I mean they are not finishing stuff in the order, seems some orders just take longer than others. I got back stuff that got marked received on 3/20, 4/5, and 4/8 but my 3/17 marked received is still in Grading/Quality control.

Just happy to see that overall from a larger sample size they are moving quickly on the standard stuff in general, even though it seems they increased the turnaround time estimate to 65 business days, it seems to on average be going much quicker than that.

Yeah it's all good, I've had some stuff come back sooner than others in some previous submissions. It's all good, we all know CGC is slammed and we'll keep on sending cards in, and just like any other loyal and entitled customer in any industry, we're going to bicker when things deviate slightly from our extremely high expectations. lol

Everything coming back all at once!

Got back 4 Different Standard Orders and a Bulk Order today!

Bulk Order was 99 cards marked as received by CGC on 12/23, Finalized/Imaged/Shipped 5/19

Standard order of 16 cards marked as received by CGC on 3/20, Finalized/Imaged/Shipped 5/18

Standard order of 18 cards marked as received by CGC on 4/5, Finalized/Imaged/Shipped 5/20

Standard order of 33 cards marked as received by CGC on 4/8, Finalized/Imaged/Shipped 5/21

Standard order of 20 cards with subgrades marked as received by CGC on 4/8, Finalized/Imaged/Shipped 5/21

Looks like they have been busy over there!!! Was really nice to receive back 5 different submissions in the same day but a little overwhelming!

Also just noticed today that a 3 Card Standard Submission of Error cards with subgrades that got marked as received on 4/28 got changed to Finalized/Imaged/Shipped today 5/24

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing that you got your 765 submissions returned in hand when my 1 Standard submission (21 cards) that was literally received before yours is still in grading/quality control.

    LITERALLY.

    NOTHING.

    GIVES.

    ME.

    GREATER.

    PLEASURE.

@Oreos That’s sounds like one hell of a scam. Essentially, any chance of recovering the stolen goods are thrown out the window considering the problem won’t be reported for 1-2 months after the fact (when CGC gets around to opening it). This could be a full on scheme of people identifying packages to CGC specifically. I’ve dealt with USPS for a package that got stolen/was never delivered, and I was basically mess out of luck. There’s gotta be some recourse if everyone takes the time to report it/file a police report, as well as CGC flexing their muscles a little bit.

Yeah I hate all of this. What a horribly anxiety inducing thing to put into collectors' heads, especially when packages are now taking 2 months to open.

Does anyone know if FedEx or UPS viable options to get cards to CGC? Do either of them leverage the Sarasota USPS as a drop-off for USPS to make the final mile delivery?

Just seeing if there's a way to avoid USPS altogether as I know they sometimes partner on parts of routes.

Has anybody sent bulk orders to CGC via Ludkins USA recently?

I sent 2 submissions via Ludkins USA back in January when the estimated turnaround times were only 45 business days.  I am currently sitting at 100+ business days and have not had any updates on either submission and it  is now double the estimated turnaround time. I understand there has been massive delays, and CGC turnaround times are only 'estimates' but what also concerns me is that the proprietary Ludkins submission tracking software has had no updates in months, but the CGC website says that they are opening packages received March 22nd?? If they are opening packages received at the end of March, and I sent my submission in January, shouldn't I have had some updates by now?

Is it possible Ludkins isn't updating the tracker? Are my cards delayed or lost? I am just curious if anyone else is in a similar situation because I really don't understand what is going on.

OH, and finally, to top it off, I sent a bulk submission to PSA via Ludkins at the same time as my CGC orders and its already entered the grading phase, while both of my CGC submission have had no updates. Weird times.

I really struggle to find any actual value these middlemen services provide to customers. Seems like the only value being gained in the entire charade is them making a few cents on each card they aggregate and send off. Why send your cards in, to be bundled with other people’s cards, resulting in delays in shipping to CGC/PSA, and adding additional return time in the whole process?

And don’t tell me they get special treatment blah blah I’ve actually seen plenty of examples showing the exact opposite — that these “middlemen services” get put at the back of the line, whenever their cards show up, which could be literal weeks after you think they did as they have to aggregate all kinds of customers’ cards, which again... who is benefiting here?!?

@KimibokoThis is alarming. I'm a part of a very large discord of individuals who submit cards to CGC/PSA (not only Pokemon) - and in the past 6 months there has been a very large amount of individuals who have stated USPS (Sarasota, FL) opened their package, took the contents, then delivered the package to CGC.

All of the individuals this has happened too; tracking shows it was at the 'Sarasota Office' for longer than it should have been. If you look up the reviews of the Sarasota USPS...it's scary. Employees stealing packages seems to be overly common.

You might want to give them a call if you shipped with USPS. If you did not - I'm not sure what to tell you =/ Sorry

    Wow. Unbelievable.

  15. image.png.5e029ba5bd0b9c9850cfed18e6e81403.png

Edit: I don't think they're going back to charging up front, I think it means that you agree to pay the full amount of the Submission at the time of clicking "submit", and this gives them the ability to charge someone up front if they have a history of payment issues etc. At least I think that's what this means.

@PaulS. can you confirm? With TAT's continually increasing I just can't understand a scenario where it'd be appropriate to revert to the old 'pay up front' model for everyone who submits.

Also, @PaulS. while I have you.... can I use the CGC scans of my slabs to sell on Ebay? I know the images are copyrighted, but can I credit the actual image to CGC and maybe add a watermark saying copyright CGC or something? Taking good pics of slabs is such a timesuck and it'd be nice to just use the scans already available via cert lookup!
