You would need to submit for regrade with sub grades. It will be the same price as submitting a raw card, but you are guaranteed the same overall grade.

    Paul

I think this policy needs immediate reconsideration. Nonsubgraded CGC slabs should be treated just like a PSA/BGS/etc crossover and graded as a brand new card. I don't see why or even how this card with binder ding should be grandfathered in to a 8.5 w/ subs just because a defect was unfortunately missed during initial grading.

Customers pay a significant premium for subgrades, and they wait longer to receive their cards back, because of the confidence that their card was closely examined through CGC's expert and impartial authentication. Would this card receive an overall 8.5 if subgrades were initially purchased? I think that answer is exactly why this policy needs immediate reconsideration.

  2. @PaulS. If that is the policy, will CGC eventually offer the ability on the submission form to add subgrades to a card if it meets a certain grade? i.e. if the card grades at least a 9 or above, opt in for subgrades, if it does not grade a 9, no subs. If this is too much to manage at the individual card level, allowing Customers to apply it to an entire order would work as well.

Standard 7 cards no subs received 3/20/21

    scheduled for grading 4/26/21

    grading/quality control 5/3/21

i can almost taste it it’s so close. Still can’t see grades btw.

Good to see this, I've got a Standard sub Received 03/23 and has been stuck on "Scheduled for Grading" for a while.

Seems like they're really picking things up though, lots of my stuff is progressing lately. Shout out to @PaulS. and team I'm definitely noticing the velocity increase on older received orders.

Its that simple, I'm able to log in 1071 bulk / 24 express on the 22th - 23rd of April without any form of hiccups. There isn't any big server lag experienced like yesterday and today. I guess you could only blame yourself to have not foresee the amount of fomo that people are rushing in logging submissions that they will paying x1.5 on the 28th.

  5. Sup guys. Got piles of Cad Saver 1's around me filled with Pokemon cards and they've got nowhere to go. Mountains of cards as high as the eye can see that never quite made my previous 10 submissions for various flaws or other reasons, but were somehow prime candidates to get in before this price change.

I know I'm not the only one. 80 items in cart and couldn't get it in (giggidy).

    Whatever. Time heals all right.

The 164 card submission that I've been working on inputting for 3 days wiped out clean after entering the payment details and clicking 'submit'. I dropped the customer care a message that I Got the "internal server" error and the SHOPPING CART IS WIPED CLEAN.

I work in the field of APIs. Get your microservices to work properly or take the entire site down to fix it rather than letting customer face this issue.

If they ask me to redo it, I'm just going to sell off a few cards raw and send the rest to PSA. This Redoing of the entire submission process is totally unacceptable.

Hey this exact thing happened to me on a submission a few weeks ago, check your email you may have received the confirmation email with your packing slip like I did. My shopping cart was wiped clean as well, just as FYI.

Can someone please show me where the centering is off on these 2 cards? These just popped this morning from a sub that I had cherry picked for 10s and I ended up with a single 9.5.....

    https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/3761582007/

If this is what constitutes an 8.5 for centering these days then I think it is actually impossible to ever get a 10.

Editing my post: CGC as a continuous improvement initiative I recommend Q/A testing/reviewing Centering grades across different cards (specifically Vmaxes as a focal point) as well as comparing Centering grades on sub-graded slabs vs non-subgraded slabs for the same card (again, Vmaxes as a focal point).

    Keep kicking !!

Personally think things might be speeding up a bit unless my December received submissions were in a downswing of volume for CGC.

    Sub 1 Economy:  Rec 12/11/20, shipped 4/16/21
    Sub 2 Economy: Rec 12/11/20, Shipped 4/22/21
    Sub 3 Economy Rec 12/15/20, Grading/Quality Control

Sub 4/5 Bulk Rec 12/23/20 both hit Scheduled for Grading the past day or two

PaulS mentioned in a random thread the other day that they just got into their bigger facility. I bet that has something to do with things moving along quicker! I’ve had 3 different submissions across different tiers all go into scheduled for grading in the last 48 hours. Let’s gooooo!!

  9. This is 100% nothing negative towards CGC, I just know that in business sometimes the only way things get done quickly is if a competitor threatens to take significant biz away. At my company, we've been developing a 2nd gen software for literally years and it hasn't come out yet because we always have the 1st gen to fall back on... so there's no sense of urgency. And a Product team with no sense of urgency is bad lol. Anyway...

I think this PSA news has CGC moving with a little more pep in their step at the moment, because let's be honest, CGC has been taking uncontested layups for months and have only stood to gain business given external factors. There was very little incentive to push cards out quicker when the 'big guy' wasn't even accepting cards unless people want to spend $300! But that's all different now, right, and I'm happy to see things moving along quicker. We all win with competition!

    Bulk Submission

    • 97 Cards, sub-grades
    • Received 12/23/20

Does anyone know more about this company?  It was a small, four person company that claims it has developed an AI technology that scans a card and can grade it instantly, far faster than the most experienced human grader.

Today it was bought by Collectors Universe.

Yes, it is a game changer. AI was always the future of grading... I know some people — like the guys from Gem Mint middleman service — live under a rock and were absolutely sure PSA would never go the AI route, but anyone with a functioning business-brain could see this from a mile away. Another L for PSA middlemen lol. Anyway...

Hopefully CGC can make moves to further involve their AI that they’ve mentioned previously, because they’re going to need it to keep up now. I’m hopeful they (CGC) have had something ready to deploy but have kept it at bay or haven’t fully utilized it to maximum capacity, but that could just be me being a CGC homer and rooting for “my guy” to counter punch.

But when you couple this PSA bombshell of an announcement with the CGC price increase being announced the same day, there’s a lot of interesting things to consider for the future of grading TCG cards.

Make no mistake, every grading company has been put on notice to adapt or die. I’m optimistic CGC has something very comparable to what PSA purchased in Genamint and can deploy it quickly to blast through the backlog and stay competitive. At least I am extremely hopeful they do because I want “my guy” to win this fight.
