  1. Thanks for the reminder guys. I guess Typhoid Mary does have a Harley Quinn kind of vibe. Completely forgot about her.
  2. Just for future reference - If you call someone a liar and untrustworthy and it turns out to not be true would that be liable? Just curious if I understand the definition correctly.
  3. Ugh. My pair of magazines got graded early this week so I keep checking a couple times a day to see if its been shipped. Sounds like I've got a bit of a wait.
  4. I knew he was innocent the whole time. Well maybe I didn't know it but I had a good feeling. Glad it all worked out.
  5. Using this timeline and according to your PM in the spoiler tag, at 5:46 he already knew that newsstand copies were tough to find. He said it himself in the PM. If he knew that they were tough to find, then he was able to differentiate between them before the book was no longer available. Also, I have personally passed on deals on this chat forum (both publicly and privately) because someone else wanted the book, or because someone realized I was buying it too cheap and it was someone who I did a lot of business with and didn't mind leaving the extra coin in the seller's pocket. I've also passed on purchases so that others can make money on them. It happens. Is there any proof that there wasn't another buyer or is everyone just assuming it was a lie? From what I'm reading, right now both outcomes are possible. So, what you're suggesting is: 1) Sometime between 6:05 PM to 6:53 PM, the book was sold. 2) 7:38 PM, Junkdrawer posts in the sales thread. 3) 7:48 PM, within TEN minutes, the original "buyer" saw Junkdrawer's post, PMed Spectre and discuss his reasons for cancelling the deal out of some showing of good will and then Spectre was able to see these responses via PM and un-ignore Junkdrawer and offer the book to him? OR At about 6:05 PM to 6:46 PM, Spectre had a change of heart and realized he priced his book too low and instead of admitting that, he made up a fake sale to get out of the deal? All things are possible, sure. Then why doesn't the phantom buyer just post in defense of Spectre? They're friends, right? He was just giving up a deal so that his friend could sell for more? Why won't he just post - "I was the buyer." So you are saying there is no way that the "buyer" and the seller couldn't come to an agreement between 6:53 and 7:48 that he should find another buyer for more money? No way in 51 minutes two people could discuss this issue and then have the seller respond to a request that pops up in his thread? October could sell 100 books in 51 minutes - that's an eternity on the boards. I don't know either way but I definitely wouldn't call anyone a liar and attempt to disrupt his business with more proof then you have. I'd think his mystery buyer would pop in but deciding if a person is a liar because someone doesn't back him up is pretty severe.
  6. Junk says"I did just notice the thread after it had sold. At one time I was looking to pay $2500 for one. I have never seen one, this is the first. The BIN price seemed fair." So he is willing to pay the $1,900. Guy offered you the book for $1,625 or something and you did not accept the offer but instead decided to go the combo deal route which to me was trying to lowball the situation. Why not just buy the book for Junk for $1,625 when he offered it or even $1,750 which was his first offer. Both were much lower then the amount Junk was willing to spend. You are CLEARLY missing the point and I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you didn't read everything because the alternative is I PMed Spectre for Junkdrawer as Spectre had Junkdrawer on Ignore. Spectre chased me with counteroffers after MY initial offer was rejected. Spectre realized that he COULD get more for the book, not DID get more. Spectre renegged on his own offer citing a lame "sold via PM" Junkdrawer thought Spectre was full of mess and posted in the sales thread "whoever bought this book, please contact me and I'll buy it." Spectre immediately unignored Junkdrawer and PMed him saying the book was still available. It wasn't hours later. It was immediately. Junkdrawer baited him with higher offers. If he just offered $1,625 don't you think Spectre would have rejected that offer. Junkdrawer waved lots of $$$ in front of him to see how he would respond. Why would Junkdrawer really say he would pay $2,500 and that $1,900 was a fair offer? We both thought it was high and he TOLD me to offer $1,500. You REALLY believe there is another buyer? Where are they? Thank you for the summary. Seems fair to think this is what happened. BUT if its not what happened, there's ZERO incentive at this point for the 'real' buyer to step forward, certainly not while he's already paid AND hasn't gotten the book yet and everyone is ready to jump on someone. Definetely doesn't sound like there ever was an exchange of money (unless Junk bought the book afterall) The maybe phantom buyer (friend) told him to cancel the purchase since it was too good a deal.
  7. I missed important pieces of that puzzle. How long was it between when he made the offer to you and Junk saying in the thread he would buy the book from whoever? I don't know if there was another buyer but it doesn't mean there wasn't one. If this other buyer was PMing him during the time between you getting the offer and him saying it was sold why wouldn't he immediately be able to say the book was available if his buddy had backed out by then. I don't have the full time line in front of me but it does look at least feasible (all though not the most plausible).
  8. Junk says"I did just notice the thread after it had sold. At one time I was looking to pay $2500 for one. I have never seen one, this is the first. The BIN price seemed fair." 9. But sadly, I don't think that was the truth. Junkdrawer posted in the thread for the buyer to contact him if they wished to sell the book and Spectre PMs him. What do you know, the book is still available! And at a higher price nonetheless! Nothing like not knowing what you have for sale then offering the book for a price you don't want to sell it for and making up a phantom sale to get out of the deal. Just figured I'd share. Cool books! Did Junk think you would get a better price than he would? I thought all lawyers were rich Being a middle man seems to cause more problems than solutions when it comes to sales on the boards. xxx ooo Rupp The seller for whatever reason has me on ignore or I would have attempted to buy it myself. Swick asked me if I wanted him to make an offer on it on my behalf. So he took you OFF ignore, when he saw your post about paying the new buyer more to flip it to him, to PM you about selling a book he had just told Swick was sold? What did he tell you the circumstances were that the book was now available since he had said it was sold? Based on what he said above it sounds like he wasn't lying when he said the books had sold (to Harvey). Not saying I 100% believe anyone on the boards would let anyone out of a deal with a bunch of money left on the table - friend or no friend but maybe its true. So what did he do wrong? He offered a book at a lower then retail price and had a buddy say he would take it when in negotiations with someone trying to lowball and combo books from his original offer (considering Junk had recently offered $2,500 for the same book). He says the book is sold and then buddy decided to give him some free info and told him to keep the book since it was worth more then $1,900. He accepts this offer (I'd have probably just sold it to my buddy for $1,900 at that point since I got my full price and could wash my hands of it) and tries to sell it to the guy who really wants it as a keeper and had offered $2,500 for it. So what did he really do if you believe a buddy temporarily bought his book?
  10. I bought a couple X-Men 244 and a Harbinger 1 and it was delivered quickly and in great shape. Thanks.
  11. My two magazines submitted on 6/24 just moved into the graded column. Hopefully they will get shipped early next week!
  12. Merchandising is were these super hero movies make their money as well. Ant-Man is a brand now which can be sold on anything, while Paper Towns only has going for is it`s box office. Ant-Man will probably sell additional millions in merchandise over the years, while Paper Towns is a one trick pony. I'd also say the number of indy low budget movies that do really well is very small compared to the number of movies being made. Its kind of like investing in penny stocks - you win big when they hit but you kind of expect most to be direct the Netflix flops.
  13. You can keep the rest I'll give you $120 US for the BA 12. Score!
  14. I love a good discussion. I typically try to wait a bit before bringing a book back to the boards (if its not snatched up on other outlets) but it came in right before I started a sales thread. I never begrudge anyone flipping the books I sell them either here on the boards or elsewhere.
  15. 2 Standard magazines Received 6/24/15 Verified 6/30/15 Scheduled for grading 7/29/15
  16. Maybe they invested in their top ten hot books?
  17. Ironically, hiring more resources can result in longer times in the short-run. Resources are dedicated to hiring and training the new people. Additionally, those new people will not be operating at the same quality/efficiency level as the more experienced workers. For now, i am blaming Star Wars. When I called them last week the rep said they had hired some new graders but it takes some time to get the new guys kicking out books as fast as needed. He also said they are experiencing and exponential growth in books being submitted which they are having a hard time getting a handle on. Considering the new grading company must have taken some of their potential work load it translates into a LOT of books getting slabbed. Damn flippers!
  18. GR 3 was at the news stands so I guess your new nickname is... SON OF SATAN! What a coincidence - my nick name as a child was Satan's Spawn.
  19. I paid $150 for what is shown. Would I have paid for it if it was shown in an auction? I'd have been on the fence since I've already got tons of TPBs and random books but the low grade key books would have paid for my investment and the rest would have been fun reading and the figures look fun - so I'd say yes to buying it in an auction but just barely.
  20. I know this is slightly a moot point since mystery boxes are not outlawed but I wanted to clear the air in terms of how my last mystery box turned out. I posted my previous mystery box contents which I felt was way light in value and Jason let me know he would make it right in my free second box. Here is what I received from the two boxes: The key books are fairly rough but complete and readable except for the DD 158 which is right on the edge of high grade. I will have to say this is the best $150 box I've ever gotten from Jason but it was his Birthday thread so maybe it was his intent to wow people with the second box. But to fair I thought it was important to show the good after showing the bad.
  21. Just got out of a double header of Ant-Man and the recent terminator. I liked Ant-Man but it barely was better then the Terminator. There was definetely some funny parts and I really enjoyed all the fight scenes. All around good B+ flick.
  22. I'll take that bet. I should have made the bet. The set is now listed as shipped/safe but none of the data has been filled in yet. I assume they are filling it in right now. I have the Grading/Quality as of 7/20 also..Maybe I'll get to see my grades today!!! Strangely I have 3 SS books submitted at the same time and those three are stuck at the Graded stage. Does it take longer for SS books?
