  1. HEY!!! How'd you get pictures of my bathroom!?! Wow - that quite some bulges on Superman.
  2. And hey, that one might actually have a shot at a 9.8, going by the scan. How does that top staple affect things? Buying a raw copy for $175 when a CGC 9.8 goes for $225 is Uh, not really. In fact, it's a steal. Maybe the buyer thinks its a 9.9
  3. I'm happy to bet $20 on Cap 3 not doubling Bats vs Superman in worldwide sales. How do we define the total tally for both movies. Once the rules are set, let me know. I may want in on this since Chip is giving away cash. I'll take that bet. $20 each against you and Andrew. Final totals for world-wide box office are the only numbers relevant in the bet. Cap 3 will be twice the total of BvS. I'm confident in this. The logic for it is sound. It's not "Kool Aid," Hector...it's logic based on past performance of the movies in the current box office landscape. It makes complete and total sense. Also, regarding the general public's knowledge of whatever movies are related or inter-connected...the thing that will matter is that I believe Cap 3 will be a much better movie in- and of-itself than BvS with no other factors involved. It will be better written, directed and acted. Sounds good - I like a good bet. But isn't setting the final worldwide totals problematic. I guess it will be fairly obvious if the bet is won after a while either way.

  5. That's not the point, though. Right now, in the present day, people know Marvel. It's not about Civil War. They know the Marvel films. They know the quality to expect. Plus, they'll see the trailers. They'll see Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Nick Fury and probably Spider-Man. Everyone who sees Age Of Ultron will go and see Cap 3. Everyone who's seen the last few Spider-Man films will go see it. Everyone who saw Iron Man 3 will go see it. Average people that were on-board with the Nolan Batman movies have seen the phrase "Affleck as Batman" and taken a step back. Now it's a "maybe" instead of a "must-see" like Marvel has created. I truly believe that's one of the reasons why Guardians did so well. Marvel has built a cinematic brand recognition that means "quality." If you plunk down your $10 you'll be thoroughly entertained. Superman did well, but nowhere near Avengers-well. The Nolan trilogy was great, but it's not the same Batman anymore. I'm not saying it won't do well, but it won't bring the house down like Cap 3. Cap 3 will double-up BvS at the very least. No way Cap 3 doubles BvS - no how. Are you talking opening weekend or all-together global sales.

  7. That's not really how it works ... it's during the lead-up period to the first trailer or promo where the prices plateau - just look at Constantine for a recent example. It's all about selling the sizzle, not the steak  I think this series will be more like the Deadpool movie. People have been hearing about the Preacher show for years so when people are sure it's going to happen we should see a large jump compared to the current prices. Just my opinion.
  8. I hear ha. I've got two complete sets burning a hole in my collection. I'm thinking about putting them up at a high price and if they don't sell they will when the promo comes out.
  9. It really doesn't matter if the show sucks. The first cool promo on TV will cause the books to skyrocket.
  10. Well, as long as you're taking personal responsibility and not trying to shift the focus to make yourself the victim....hey waitaminutenow.... haha Guys, in all seriousness. I understand why it was wrong. I am sorry to Voodoo. I should not have agreed to the terms if I didn't want to wait. I should have communicated better before selling the book from underneath him. I am sorry. This has never happened to me before. It won't happen again. Great step. After your previous comments there will be people who will want you to do more but saying sorry is definitely the biggest step. If I was you I'd definitely try to open up the lines of communications with Voodoo and maybe offer him some kind of restitution for your error. Maybe send him some books that equal or exceed the cost difference between the book you would have sold him and the price he ends up paying for the book. It's on you to make it right and saying sorry usually is only the first step especially if the other party feels slighted. Best of luck man.
  11. Nice 3 dollar books as always FD. Higher grade X-Force 11 for $3 - nice!
  12. I understand what you're saying: while the PL serves as a warning, the primary objective of the PL is to get problem transactions completed. Thus, when an offended party proposes a nomination, it's not simply to "get back at someone" but serve as an incentive to get the deal done. So yes, the offended party should have at least a general idea of what would be needed to get the transaction satisfactorily completed. However, there have been some problem transactions were the way forward is not readily clear. Initially, this looked like it could have been one of those transactions - buyer wants the book, seller sold the book and no longer has it. In such cases, I would think the burden of finding a way to move forward would fall on the offender, not the offended. This is why I was nominated. No. You were nominated because you unilaterally broke a deal which had terms that you and the buyer had both agreed upon. So you feel absolutely no responsibility whatsoever to try and make things right with the buyer? I told him I didn't mail the book yet and I would sell it to him, he declined. And why did he decline? He clearly said why: because selling the book to him now would involve doing to someone else what you were going to do to him. What you've done with this transaction is put yourself in the unenviable position of having two buyers who have equal legitimate claim to the same book. If you pull the book back and sell it to the first buyer, you're breaking your agreement with the second buyer. If you go ahead with your deal with the second buyer, you're breaking your agreement with the first buyer. You've claimed that the second buyer would be understanding if you couldn't fulfill your commitment to him. But you also assumed that the first buyer would be understanding about breaking your deal with him - without discussing it with him first. As it turns out, he wasn't. Are you sure your second buyer will be understanding, especially if you haven't discussed it with him yet? And even if he is, should he have to be? He didn't create this situation, you did. Here's a suggestion: In one of your snarky, dismissive responses you mentioned that there are several of these on eBay. Why not buy one of those copies and send it to one of your buyers? That way you can fulfill your commitments to both of your buyers. Of course, you won't make in money on the deal. You might even loose some. But you can chalk that up to a learning experience: don't agree to extended payment terms when what you really need is immediate payment and don't break or alter an agreement without discussing it with the other party first. That's just a suggestion. And since it sounds like the first buyer is dropping the nomination, there's nothing in terms of the Probation process obligating you to come up with a solution. It depends on how much your reputation as a seller on these boards is worth to you. Well said, but my other concern (if I were the buyer) would have been sending a MO after all of this confusion. The Buyer has no protection that way. Jeez, first I dont sell him the book, then I steal his money. What kinda of monster do you think I am? Dude - just say you are sorry with some humility and try to make it right. You admitted you pulled a book out from underneath one of your buyers and now you are acting like its no big deal. But for some its a huge deal. The buyer now has to go find another copy and maybe lose some money on the deal which could be seen as unnecessarily costing him money. Let alone his lost time dealing with this. You dealt with this poorly but don't make it worse by being flippant and minimalizing the issue.
  13. My wife watched the first couple episodes and really liked It so now I've got to put the brakes on and let her catch up so we can watch it together. The suspense is killing me since episode 4 was so good.
  14. I watched the 1st 2 last night also. Another nice Easter egg when they gave Jack Murdock's weight before the fight. 164 pounds. DD 164, classic Miller cover I think you have been playing my number game a little too much.
  15. I'm thinking the Netflix model is something else too... Dangerous. If you're a storyjunkie the level of quality is damn near irresistible. It's like having a bookstore in your house, open one and *boom*, sucks you right in. "On demand" becomes "demanding to be on". There's something to this. I will obsessively stream the new seasons of "The League," "Orange is the New Black" and "Daredevil" whenever they're made available. Thank god I never got into "House of Cards," but if they, for instance, triple the number of shows I feel the desire to stream in a given year, my productivity in life will crater. I feel your pain. I just started getting into Vikings and its been tough to not binge watch a whole season all at once. There just is too many good shows available for a person who has a job.
  16. I'd go for HOS status at this point unless he gets you your money soon. When that Alleycat guy stole a couple thousand dollars by selling a fake Batman 1 there was no discussion of PL list. I don't care if its $150 or $3,000 - taking someone's money and not providing anything in return is stealing to me.
  17. Sad to hear you have to go thru all this BS Hector. Sounds like you did everything you could do to avoid him having to pay for shipping the book and all he had to do was refund your $150 and move on. He hadn't even shipped the book and he already spent the $150?? Side story - Hector bought a nice NM copy of Swamp Thing 37 from me a year or so ago. I think he pressed it and sent it in and it came back 9.6 with color touch and glue on cover. Since I completely missed the restoration, I quickly refunding his purchase price and the cost to get the book graded. In an alternate universe I could have refused to issue the refund and the last year would have been a completely different year all together. Sad that things have gotten this ugly over $150 but people definitely have to live with their decisions.
  18. Wow - just finished episode 4 and it keeps getting better and better.
  19. Three guys at the Con today were lamenting the fact they could watch a bunch of the episodes today. I've not seen this kind of communal buzz since the last Harry Potter book came out.
  20. You guys are killing me. I've got stuff going on tonight and then I'm going to a Con all day tomorrow. Maybe I can watch the first two episodes tomorrow night.
  21. I sold a Cap 110 to Nick and he paid quickly and good communications. Thanks and come back anytime.
  22. I totally agree with everything you are saying. The market has decided that #181 is the money book - and I am fine with that. I just try and let people know that it isn't the first appearance of Wolverine -slym I've never owned a copy of 180 or 181. Too tough to find them for less then FMV. I see a slight "deal" every now and then but its gone before I can think about it.
  23. I think he accepted the deal if you agreed to the $100. The other stuff he added is to try to persuade you to take the $100 or possibly accept the $100 in conjunction with other books. Since you accepted the $100 I'd consider it a done deal and the book sold. I typically respond with a "sold for $100 - please post up the I'll take it in the thread for my book keeping".
