  1. As in 1st TPB? Or the 1st book in the series?
  2. I was wondering the same thing. It doesn't appear as though they're keeping a lot of the more religious mythology aspects based on that trailer. I mean... maybe they're going to surprise the non-comic audience with it, but still... I think we saw Herr Starr, and a glance of Tulip, and maybe Cassidy in the jail cell? But umm... what about Genesis? Pretty sure swerving the audience with angels/demons/Genesis/etc might not really be the best way to gain audience. I like the chances of the series being successful if they don't show the religious parts of the comic. They can still have a good plot without it. Uh...what? The 'religious parts' are the core of the story. Angel/Devil offspring. Search for God. Destroying Angel seeking vengeance. If it doesn't have these elements, what's the point? Why call it 'Preacher'? Does anyone know how much Garth Ennis has to do with the production/writing? Hopefully he has a key role such as Kirkman's on TWD. I would love for the show to stay true to the comic but having the descendants of JC being protrayed as inbreds may not go over well with a lot of the possible audiance.

  4. Not my favorite promo ever but it does its job. I definetely want to see more.
  5. It may not be PC but I'd also take a look into how you present yourself. If you drop off the resume looking like some who will flake on them they will not give you a call back. Get a hair cut - wear a polo and jeans - make a good impression.
  6. Every time you get a 9.4 and below on moderns you should get punched. That X-men 266 CGC 9.0 should make you leave the hobby. If grades are all that you care about, you should leave the hobby. Strange comment for someone who is on a message board sponsored by a grading company and posting in a thread about what graded books you just got back.
  7. That looks like the one Joey Post used when he was grading a book at Baltimore this year.
  8. I was thinking welding because I don't have a knack for anything else. With your pleasant demeanor and seemingly endless ability to turn the other cheek, you should give some thought to something in the customer service field. I think that's something you might be very good at. A good personality and a thick skin are traits that are difficult to find in a customer service representative. As a sales rep? or in general? Sales rep? Start off small and see how it goes. Work at a Best Buy selling TVs for a bit and keep looking for a better job once you have gotten your feet wet. Don't always look for the instant jump to the big time.
  9. Ugh - I must have sold 4 Alias 1 NM/NM+ copies this last year for $50-$55. I bought them cheap before they exploded so I was happy but a could a would a for sure. I've got my last copy in for grading and saw a guy setting his price at $100 at a small local con yesterday.
  10. It's not on E-Bay but I must have had 4 people ask about Killing Joke at my Con today. I of course am all out but it definetely a hot book.
  11. That's sealed it - no more selling of Daredevil 4s until after the show comes out. That was a fantastic trailer. Darker then I imagined it would be. Question is how long can they keep the Purple Man alive before killing him off. I'm thinking the same thing, he looks super messed up and awesome. I hope he makes it out of the series and into Daredevil or Defenders. I think DD4 is still pretty underrated. Based on the work he did on Dr Who, I'd hope they keep him around for a very long time. I started buying up copies of DD 4 the second I heard he was playing the role.

  13. Wow! My 5 SS MFT were shipped today and they were received on 10/1 after I dropped them off at Baltimore. Unfortunately my 1 SS Silver-Age book is still sitting at the Verified stage.
  14. This shows you have sold about 45% of the books you have bought. To see how much profits you have generated you have to compare the money you have spent to buy the $9,802.52 in books. If you have invested $3,000 in buying the books out of your pocket or getting the books graded then you would have about $6,800 in gross profits. I'm assuming you have the $4,469.11 in cash or you spent it on living expenses and did not put the money back into buying the $5,333.41 in inventory? I don't understand the first question you asked me I've spent $9802.52 to buy the comics. I spent the money on living expenses and did not put the money into the $5333.41 in inventory. That would mean you spent exactly (to the penny) the amount you expect to sell the books for. Your last post right before I started writing you back seems a little more reasonable. I'd expect you to make about 20% in profits before you take out all the fees and expenses such as shipping materials.
  15. Great read Ed. Thanks for sharing all the info!

  17. Yes that's true as well a big mistake on my part. It was a ba12 and $300 cash if I remember correctly. Don't sell yourself short(er). Pre show announcement that wouldn't have been a terrible trade if there was $300 instant cash on top of the book. The ASM 129 CGC 9.0 were going for $750 ish back then and a NMish copy of BA 12 would be a quick sale for $500 - $600. Problem is you are trading certainty with a graded book for a raw book. What if the book comes back trimmed or has a stain that drops it to a 8.0? If it should come back as a 8.0 or something that he didn't mention then I'll ask for the asm 129 9.0 back because I asked him if there's anything wrong with it and he said "no other then what I mentioned there's nothing wrong with it" and I'm holding him to it since I held up my end of the deal. Did you all agree to that prior to the trade? What if this happens and the guy says either "I sold the Spidey" or "Sorry, the deal was done awhile back"? Yes I agreed to it before I did the trade so that he knows what's up should he do something I'll file a claim with paypal then and notify comic book group admins what he did. There is no transaction for Paypal to freeze. Your only recourse is to out the seller and hope they live up to the agreement. But just like your question about the Russia guy - always do a benefit to cost assessment to avoid risk. You are looking to make money in comics and there is a lot "safer" money to made out there. Yes you have a point I'm PMing him right now and let's see what he'll say about if he sold the comic or not. Once you trade a book to someone its theirs to do what they want. PMing him asking him if he lied about keeping it will just burn a bridge. Just get the BA 12 fast tracked for $28 and see if it comes back a 9.4 like you think. Maybe post scans in the PGM section to see if you have cause for concern? The 9.4 is what he says it will be without pressing which I know is wrong already. No you do not know what grade it will get. Get it graded and move forward and sell that puppy as soon as you can.

But these are all things you need to think about before making the deal. Hindsight will kick you in the butt if you don't think it thru first.

But you are still at risk especially in a trade. He probably has sold the ASM 129 by now if it's a dealer and you can't even do a Paypal refund since it's a trade. I'd see trading your ASM 129 CGC 9.0 for a long box of hot copper books if you were trying to make some money selling them one at a time but trading a hot key slab for a raw book doesn't leave you enough meat on the bone if everything goes smoothly in order to justify the risks. Now I'm having doubts again he told me it's in his collection to keep which I doubt because it was before the movie announcement but I can freeze his paypal by making a claim on the money he sent me if I would explain my situation. You want them to freeze the money he sent you?? Why worry now - the book has not come back yet. But these are all things you need to think about before making the deal. Hindsight will kick you in the butt if you don't think it thru first.
