  1. You just showed me 1st ed boxes LOL. What am I supposed to think when your showing me a certain part of your collection? And second, no it wasnt. 1st ed only gets printed X amount and then thats it. To be fair, Base Set 1st ed was barely printed in the first place. All the 1st ed sets did not have high print runs. Your mixed up with unlimited. 3rd, its not worth 20k. You have to pay fees on the internet to get that 20k, and they are taking at least 10% from you. So its more like 18k. And outside of a decent Toyota or a Kia, I dont know what kind of new car your getting. Your not getting no Tesla with that kind of money. Finally, you have zero auction house experience to say anything (at least from what your telling me). I sell on auction houses and I get what I get along with I watch what stuff goes for. Clearly, you dont. Why are you chiming in when you dont even know what your talking about? Your overinflating your abilities and your experience. Dont try to BS me lol. I dont even know what you think you have to gain anyway. We are just talking on an internet message board. I dont care what you do with your money, but your "investments" are not as great and as well planned as you like to believe. And you miss the point. Im saying the guy with the corona stuff got lucky. If you came to me in 2019 december and told me that you were going to buy out a bunch of hand sanitizier and toilet paper since you think corona is coming, Id think your nuts. Your having results oriented thinking. Your not thinking about the best choices that you could have made. You made a random decision and it worked out. You didnt make the best decisions and got rewarded is what Im saying.
  2. I was using them for Yugioh and sent them some Pokemon too. At 25 a pop, its a solid deal (or was). I sent them 16 more cards today but it was all high end stuff. I liked CGC at the start but now they look like they are probably screwed too. Never thought PSA would shut down and lead to this type of stuff happening. Im going to have to wait to grade anything else and Ill re-evaluate who Im going with once the market stabilizes who I will go with. PSA has the best returns. Even though CGC does good work, market doesnt care lol. I guess we will see who offers what when its time to grade again.
  3. For real. Im at the point to where dealing with distributors is such a pain that I might just take a break. But I got in back in 2016 and made good money. Nobody has that same chance anymore. I dont wanna say Pokemon is the new Amway...but sometimes its not too far off LOL. People buying cardboard for lots of money with no real world application cant possibly go wrong....
  4. The unlimited ones were printed to death. You have 1st editions, you dont even know your own stuff ? Most of the unlimited stuff isnt worth that much unless its PSA 10 quality. At least when inflation is taken into consideration. SAme with all the CD and southern island cards. Your kind of off in terms of your numbers. But even so, 1500 to 100k, with inflation, thats like a 20-30% return. And you have to take out another 15% to auction it all off, so yeah, congrats, you have returns probably equal to the average stock market returns. Not super impressive. Holding on to old boxes was a crazy thing to do. Its like the dude who bought out all the hand sanitizer before covid hit. Yeah, im sure most people thought that guy was nuts and in a way he kind of was. But he ended up getting lucky (in his case, not really since he couldnt sell it on ebay or amazon). Just dumb luck man. None of what you did took any real thought.
  5. Nobody was holding those old boxes either. I dunno what this guy is trying to say since hes not making any sense. There was no groups of people hoarding Hidden Fates for the next 20 years like there was back in the day. Nobody thought back in the 90s that Pokemon was going to make it a decade, let alone 5 years. Some people win the lottery and try to act like it took some skill. Yeah I guess you bought a scratch ticket, that took some effort, but its mostly dumb luck that this stuff has the value that it has today.
  6. I dont think you really read what I wrote if you think that lol. Pokemon was not being slabbed to death or was it being printed into oblivion 20+ years ago. There was no youtubers who were hyping it up like its some kind of life saving medicine like they do today. They also did not have the card quality that they have today with Japanese cards. And kids actually played with them. What about that is still happening in 2021? Since I dont see kids jamming Charizard VMAXs on the playgrounds or do I see less print runs like it was back in the 90s. Just break it down for me how what happened 20 years ago is anything similar to how it is today.
  7. Yeah I wonder how CGC will respond since RIP to their mail boxes. They cant handle the volume from 2 major companies since nobody actually can. Its not possible to scale this type of business to meet that kind of need. Either price increases or insane TAT's are coming. A bunch of people will probably be pissed off. It is what it is
  8. I highly doubt starter deck cards will shoot up like crazy in the future. What your showing was stuff that was not printed into oblivion. That is over 20 years old. That wasnt graded to death. In a market to where children actually played with the cards and damaged them. Where natural attrition occurred and not every new card got slabbed and print runs were not done like crazy. Your not looking at the entire picture. Whats going on in 2020 is not the same as what Pokemon was like back in the late 90s. Its two different worlds that will have two different outcomes. Pokemon today is overprinted, overhyped by social media, overgraded and maybe even overrated in general. I could be wrong, but based on what I know, yeah it just makes no sense to be buying perfect condition japanese cards thinking that they will be worth a ton of money when they are printed into oblivion and have no issues with them. There is nothing about them that makes them special enough to preserve.
  9. SGC was a solid alternative to PSA since they did $25 per card and did all other games just like PSA (like Yugioh, Pokemon 3rd party stickers, other TCGs in general). However, today they went up to $75 per card, due to PSA shutting down, making CGC the only cheap option in the game for Pokemon. There is officially zero competition with CGC's price points and TAT's at the moment. I was going to send my Pokemon stuff to CGC since I had a dozen cards that I cant send to SGC due to their value but Im expecting either a huge price hike or TAT's double to tripling in the next week from CGC. Incoming some sort of huge change. Even with all the new facilities and workers, its virtually impossible for CGC to scale to handle PSA's workload. I await to see CGC's response since things are about to get ugly lol.
  10. I dont think you really understand card the market if you think modern japanese promos are going to be good investments. For starters, they are printed into oblivion. Anything worth money in the future will be cards that did not have high level print runs. Especially japanese cards that have high print quality. Those 10s arent that hard to get. Even over time, that just wont change that much. If you want good investments, you have to look at stuff with low print runs and quality control issues, not cards that everyone has. An example of this would be Burning Shadows Charizard GX Secret Rares. Burning Shadows had terrible quality control. Finding those charizards at anything above a 9 is extremely hard to do. Unlike the Charizard VMAX from the starter decks that have been printed into oblivion and that have tons of 10s everywhere. In this case, its not CGC being strict. They grade tons of japanese cards as 10s since lots of them dont have any issues. Its not really that special of a card like you want to think that it is.
  11. That seems silly that you care about 700 when your sitting on 5-6 figures worth of cards. And IMO, betting on Pokemon being relevant 30+ years from now is also risky. We dont know if it will ever be hot like it is right now. Just saying that your kinda gambling even when your largely already ahead. Its like you just won the lottery yet your buying more lotto tickets lol.
  12. Well for starters, most day jobs in america suck lol. Even people with high level degrees dont make great money now a days even with putting in 60 hour work weeks. I quit 2 corporate jobs to flip cards since its much easier and more profitable than whatever bogus career these corporations were offering me. Second, most newer cards are probably 10s. Unless a set has awful quality control, most newer cards, especially Japanese cards, are in perfect condition. To artificially downgrade seems stupid too since if the market has nothing but perfect modern cards, it just is what it is. The production quality is high then. With Shining Fates though, that set has a bunch of quality control issues, so that set alone could have lots of lower grades. It will always probably be buy the label, not the card. Its been this way forever now. The secondary market does not really care that CGC grades better. I know many people think that the market should care, but it doesnt. It just is what it is. And when you think about it, there is no realistic difference between a 9.5 and a 10. Most 9.5's are perfect cards too. The BGS/CGC 10s have always been marketing gimmicks.
  13. Thats money that will be stuck for months. Your going to lose money on not being able to resell it. Its dead money. Thats exactly why I paid and cut the line. Yeah, I can wait 6 months, or I can just turn this stuff over and move on with my life. It sucks that CGC has essential upped their prices for reasonable service, but thats what it is. Wait an eternity or pay at least 20 bucks a card to get it back in a month. Since with bulk/economy, there is virtually no real time table. It says 110 days today, but truck loads of bulk are coming and god knows what will happen with the TAT's then. Pull out while you can IMO.
  14. I dont think their undervalued since they are equal to BGS's 10 scale. Its not like its a scale that we have never seen before. Perfect/Pristine 10s are only really going to make a difference on extremely expensive cards. Random japanese promos are whatever, they get a small premium at best. The 1st ed base stuff or neo shinings or tournament cards is where it will matter. On average though, the 9.5 just doesnt perform on the market as well as the PSA 10. 10 is greater than 9.5 and thats how people are looking at it. PSA has sucked for years but no matter what, their cards still get the most money. It doesnt matter what the grade quality is. Most consumers really do not care about the process behind it. Its all about that stupid white label. And I dont see CGC ever catching up. As much as I like it for the company who does the best job to have their cards worth the most money, the market is irrational and doesnt see it that way.
  15. Id probably upgrade to standard unless you dont want them back this year lol. Not even joking but any bulk/economy that was sent in after January is going to take forever to get back. They are extremely low priority compared to standard. All my standard subs have been coming back within a month. My 12/7 bulk took 3 months to come back, which was like 60-70 business days. TAT's are about to get worse, like really bad due to PSA shutting down. Its strange how a few more bucks will get them to actually work on your cards but it just is what it is at the moment.
  16. Whats funny though is that even though CGC does do a better job at grading, the secondary market doesnt seem to care. PSA still commands higher prices within the higher grades. With lower grades and lower rare cards, they tend to be the same. But when it comes to grading the top tier cards, for some reason, the janky PSA slabs and stickers are still more sought after and people will pay more for them. I quit PSA back in 2018 but after seeing some of my CGC auction results in comparison to their PSA counterparts, yeah Im starting to think things over. Obviously right now you cant do PSA and CGC is one of the few options avaliable, but money wise, in a perfect world CGC cards should be worth more but they arent. The secondary market just not seem to care how things are actually graded. They dont care if the card inside actually has issues or not. All that matters is that number and what card has that number. Also subgrades are just a waste of money and give the illusion of transparency. Thats nice that my centering is a 9.5, but if the overall grade is a 6, what is the point? I also dont like the 9.5 being the psuedo top grade. 10s seem to barely exist, so that means lots of cards get graded 8-9 more often while at companies that use the 10 scale more often, give out more 10s and 9s. Again, in a perfect world, this would matter, but consumers just care about that final number. 10 being greater than 9.5 is all that matters.
  17. Im not made of money either but im losing money if this stuff doesnt come back in a certain time frame. Each month that goes by and i cant turn over product is less money to reinvest. Ill take a small loss now so I can regroup and make it back later on down the line. But yeah, the TAT's between those two make zero sense. I think I had a bulk order actually get done before economy. Anything from december will be done within the next month or so. Anything from January on, who knows. I wouldnt recommend having CGC hold anything from that time frame unless you legit dont care if you get it back sometime this year or not. I thought for a while that things would stablize, but this PSA news, rip CGC bulk/economy lol. Its dead. People should not try to submit anything slower than standard at this point. And its not that nobody has an issue with being annoyed at CGC, since right now yeah the service kinda sucks unless you pay and cut the line. Its just the people who go on and on and start acting like its this huge injustice being casted upon them. Im not super old, but I been around long enough to know the difference between actually getting screwed over, verses a card company wanting to take a bit of my profits essentially by asking for more money. Some of these people need to leave their house once in a while (at least when corona is over).
  18. Yeah sadly the $8 bulk / $15 for economy was just too good to be true. I ended up paying to have my stuff cut the line and got stuff being sent back to me already when paying the extra $12 per card + 15 service fee. It sucks, but it just is what it is. The free money off midrange cards is just gone. I was lucky to get my 12/7 bulk/economy return of mostly vivid voltage stuff last week. I have a 12/30 bulk + economy order that i expect back 2 months from now since anything from december Id expect to be done soon. Everything that was january-on I paid and had it bumped up. Everything got magically worked on when I paid the extra money. Kinda sketchy in a way but im just trying to get my stuff pulled out and move on. Just a live and learn type of experience. CGC for real should kill the bulk and economy service if they arent really bothering with it. Its become a waste of time to grade any modern stuff since too many people are doing it. It makes sense why the tier is now unusable, but CGC should officially kill it since its not a useable service. I hope nobody is actually submitting bulk right now thinking they will get it back in any reasonable time frame since with PSA doing what they did, there is just no way that they can handle the 100s of stacks of shining fates that are able to destroy their post boxes.
  19. hey buddy im a lawyer who graduated 1st out of 4 other people from the university of phoenix online linix campus and i must say that shining collectables has a HUGE case! the crime being commited is treason in the 4th degree along with emotional distress and force of will pitching brainstorm. My trial experience includes a baby with one leg who had her milk stolen from her dog, a dog who was not given treats for 4 hours from his neglectful owner and a guy who bought sword & shield but didnt get all the pokemon in it. Shining NEEDS to contact me ASAP and wire transfer me $10k so i can get the JUSTICE HE DESERVES!!!
  20. dont tell me what to do bro! its my 5th amendment right to free speech here in canada eh. im going to grade every pikachu from burning shadows and nobody can stop me from going broke and living under an overpass. ill keep myself warm with all the cheap plastic. cgc NEEDS to return my 10k submission of common pikachus tomorrow since if not ill take this all the way to the supreme court and amy conen obrian will make them grade all the cards in my backyard!!!!
  21. cgc needs to take in more cards if anything. they need to open grading up to FORNITE cards!!! get logan paul to tell his fans "if you dont buy these cards, u will be a loser like me" and then cgc will take over the world.... or people should just stop grading every new card. thats an easy solution providing you have some self control
  22. i dont feel bad for the people who keep sending in stacks of shining fates bulk and wont get their cards back until 2077. it takes some effort to not copy paste what people are doing on social media.
  23. everyone is doing it wrong. ex cards are too old and cgc wont give them priority. you need to write vmax or gx on your box. i wrote vmax gx gigantimax buffalo butt pikachu and got a 12 HOUR turn around time. my cards skipper received and went straight to graded. yall are just not up to speed.
  24. my stuff is coming back just fine. shining prob works for gma and is trying to bring cgc down. maybe he never sent in a submission and is trolling all of us.
  25. the ignore user list is a beautiful thing. i didnt realize how it worked until i figured out that you need to be on desktop to use it. this guy keeps rambling yet im not seeing his posts. prob something about gma being better or how jake paul is ths goat and we all suck. its not worth anyones time to read it so just add him to your list too
