  1. I've also taken into consideration that i think it is tougher to find a complete coverless copy than a complete copy and that it is the entry level for collectors so bidding will always be more since complete copies are out of reach for most. In today's market, ANYTHING can happen. And I agree with jgallo that a complete copy with supple pages is in that price range.
  2. Back covers look funny or is it how it was angled when the pix were taken?
  3. So basically the "new" grading rule for tape is that say a cover to a book is completely split and detached, but it is taped back together and now attached to the book, CGC would grade the book as if there was no tape to fix the problem. Back then the book can get away with a grade of around 2.5, now that same book would most likely grade out as a 1.0/1.5.
  4. Let's see: In LA House of Secrets - Burbank Earth 2 Comics - Northridge / Sherman Oaks Blastoff Comics - North Hollywood Collector's Paradise - Winnetka In SD So Cal Comics San Diego Comics
  5. Oh ok he was the seller.. I thought he was the buyer hehe. Congrats to your friend. What a record-breaking sale!!
  6. Good for you on your purchase! Yeah, I agree that the price can still go up especially when FF 52 are selling for crazy money right now, I don't see why FF 48 can't sell at the same level or higher!! I'm glad I bought my copy years back, but wished I bought more back then lol.
  7. The FF#52 CGC 9.0 that sold for $7,600 wasn't a fake sale. I am friends with the person who sold the comic. It's completely legit, but definitely crazy! Oh wow!! Yeah crazy price paid for sure I think. Let me ask, why didn't your friend shop around for a similar 9.0 copy elsewhere? I'm sure there were other 9.0 copies that have a lower buy price.. Is there something about that 9.0 copy that demanded that kind of price?
  8. Which is great for the hobby as a whole. Maybe not for buyers
  9. Can't go wrong with a Cap 1 in any grade. Congrats!
  10. You are correct about that both were flat/dead.
  11. And also that copy looks much better than the one just sold. It makes sense why this went for lower.
  12. No talk about the CGC 8.0 at CC that sold for $70k Even with the tanning on the covers, it still sold for a strong price!!
  13. Yep, because pre-robin tecs are so sought after and hard to come by periodically at auctions, I can see why tape on the interior wouldn't affect the bidding. May be affected if tape is visualized on the spine area of the covers or at random parts of the cover. But as long as the covers look presentable with nice eye appeal, it really doesn't matter anymore I guess.
  14. I used to own that Tec 29 3.5 before and it had that tape already before it was resubmitted after a spine roll press. I believe it was after the announcement of the new tape rule by CGC. So it is technically still a 3.5.
  15. I seriously doubt that this is the new price/point for a Tec 33. My gut is that owners will hold their copies at that price level. I will. I agree wholeheartedly with all of those who have said that this was a supply/demand issue tonight. Too many copies of pre-Robin (and 1st Robin for that matter) Tecs being sold all at once. Flooded the market and overwhelmed buyers. Just have to see the next copy up for sale publicly to really make a better assessment. I certainly hope it is as I still need a copy
  16. The Tec 33 CGC 6.5 copy sold for roughly $12,460/point.. And being it was a "higher" than usual grade, I would think lower graded copies would sell for lesser if this is the new price per point now. You should've taken the $18k/point when offered. The ebay seller who sold his 1.5 copy for $30k made out like a bandit. Good for him!
  17. AF 15 will NEVER be hard to find, just need to have the $$$ to buy a copy. You see one in practically every auction from CL, CC, HA as well as on ebay and dealer's websites. There's never a shortage to buy a copy. Only exception would be in higher grades.
  18. I agree that Action 1 will sell for more than a Tec 27, but just to point out that there were 2 Tec 27 copies up for sale at around the same time period so it would seem that there is a huge gap again between Action 1 and Tec 27. I think that if only a single copy of Tec 27 were up for auction, then it would really be closer in the race between the two. Looks like that Tec 27 CGC 2.5 with tape sold for a strong price at CL. Gratz to the seller for making out well!
  19. You also have to add in the 18% buyer's premium to the Hakes final sales price
  20. Now we can put to rest hopefully the PQ debate with this auction. The Tec 31 CGC 1.0 with supple pages has a huge lead over the 2.0 copy with brittle pages. Not only that, but I think the 2.0 has a much superior eye appeal. Why does the 1.0 have a higher bid... PQ.
