  1. Yeah.. just bad timing perhaps and also not having it in a signature or main event auction hurts too. The deep pocketed bidders I would assume only look into the main auctions and not the side auctions like this. Also sorry to say and I know the seller is a boardies but the eye appeal is lackluster at least with me. If I didn't have a copy I would have easily passed on bidding and wait for another copy. Let's not forget too that there have been numerous Tec 31's that were auctioned off this year alone.. so those same bidders who won a copy didn't have to bid again.
  2. Based on my observations, Any marker writing, chipping, ugly dark stains, etc can severely lower the price of this book. A nice clean copy no matter what grade it is would sell well. I've seen lower graded unchipped copies that looks much nicer sell for more than a higher graded copy with chipping, and not only AF 15, but with almost any book across the board.
  3. Yeah i lucked out on the sale, having known that sale prices of AF 15 were at its peak that time and had a gut feeling they would go down later.
  4. Couldn't agree more. It's especially silly with newer books. People chasing 9.8 copies willing to pay absurd amounts of money compared to 9.6/9.4/9.2 copies that 99% of collectors can't differentiate between. It's all about the number. You can't argue the genius of CGC to pinpoint and capitalize on people's obsessive tendencies though. Hats off for that. It's indeed real! My best friend would only buy 9.8 moderns and that's it! He doesn't even bother with anything lower. I asked why pay for a 9.8 when you can get a discount by buying a 9.6 instead and the difference between the two is very very small? He said because of the number and that's what he wants. Trying to talk some sense into it but he seems not to listen Sure I do like the 9.8's as well if I can get for a good price, but I don't mind buying a 9.6 or lower if it looks just as nice
  5. Glad I sold my CGC 4.0 chipped copy for $35k last summer
  6. Yeah.. surprised it sold for that low. I think auction fatigue is setting in too and the upcoming heritage signature auction coming up soon with multiple copies of Bat 1 and Supes 1.
  7. The FF 1 CGC 3.5 ComicConnect copy just sold for $8400.
  8. Yep saw that last week. If that copy sell a for that price id be happy
  9. I would've bought a cap 2 instead of a 3 if I thought otherwise. Just glad to be a club member
  10. I agree and it's the way I've been saying it but my friends seem to think othetwise. Here is the article he sent me https://screenrant.com/venom-movie-symbiote-pronunciation/
  11. There's some controversy about how that female actress said the word "symbiote" lol.. kinda silly
  12. There is a teaser trailer and I enjoyed it. Can't wait to see more. Before Spidey 3 when we first saw Venom, I really thought that WWE wrestler/MMA fighter Brock Lesnar would have been perfect for the role because of his height, built, look, etc. I guess that will never happen
  13. Agree about the difference between 9.8 and 9.6 being miniscule, and usually not worth the big jump in value common between 9.8s and 9.6s. However, regarding ASM300, there are almost 3x as many 9.6s as there are 9.8s. For comparison, another popular CA key like NM98 has only about 30% more 9.6s than 9.8s. So basically a 9.8 ASM300 is significantly "scarcer" for being a major CA key, which may be a factor as to why ASM300 9.8s are almost 3X the price of the 9.6s while NM98 9.8s are only about 2x the price of the 9.6s. ASM300, it's a tough cover to get in 9.8. Good point made, I did not look into the census before I made my statement, but good to know. With any black cover comic book, getting into the uber uber high grade 9.8 and up is tough! I guess it makes sense why 9.8's sell for so much. I remember the days not too long ago when 9.8's could be had for under a grand. My friend actually was on the verge in buying a 9.8 copy that time for $900, but backed out. Boy he regretted that so much and is kicking himself to this date.
  14. Bought my ticket for Friday night. Can't wait!!
  15. I think the reason why is because 9.6's have the best value for the buck. Currently, 9.8's are selling for around $2300 give or take, 9.6's for around $750+, 9.4's for $500, 9.2's $400 and so forth.. It seems that 9.6's are undervalued compared to how much a 9.8 sells for. If a 9.8 sells for around $2300, shouldn't a 9.6 sell for at least $1200? Not only that, but the grade difference between a 9.8 and a 9.6 is so minuscule that a grader can grade a 9.8 book a 9.6 or vise versa.
  16. Can you imagine if the winning bidder was from another country.. What a mess that would be.
  17. I agree that consignor knows what's up and was wise enough to choose CL to sell knowing full well they don't image the back cover unless it's a major pricey book. Looking at the front cover only, it seems like the grade fits the book. If any I highly doubt that the miscut had little to no effect on the grade, but compared to other 3.5's eye appeal is lower because of the back.
  18. I'm sure CL will work with the OP on this should be decide to return the book. They are a reputable and major auction house and business, it would be hard for me to think they wouldn't. The consignor though may not like it if a refund is to be made and maybe re-auction the book, me thinks. Hopefully he/she would be fine and understanding.
  19. Yep I completely agree. Other books such as SA keys (ASM 1, X-Men 1, SC 22) and IH 181 have spiked up out of nowhere. Could possibly go the same way for B&B 28, but I treat this book like an Avengers 1 where it is not the 1st app of any of the team members, so it makes me believe that a huge spike like the former books I mentioned will probably not happen. But if you're a pure collector, than seems like a good time to buy .
  20. Congrats on the grades Tabcom! Great buy!! As long as you don't use those books as firewood for your fireplace behind the box, you'll be A-OK
  21. Seems like now would be a great time to snag a copy for those who have been waiting. Who knows later on what the future holds on value, but it's pretty low/affordable now.
