  1. maybe....maybe not... I can hear the collective groans of the people who were hoping to score one of the many copies at auction right now as they read you saying this. Several to choose from in the next month. The 5.5 at HA, a 4.0 and 6.5 at CL and a higher grade but toasty looking 7.5 at CC. I really like the 3.5 comics4less has ending on ebay this weekend. Solid looking book for the grade. Thanks for the heads up on the other auctions... I kinda have my eye on this one for the last 9 hours..The book looks solid for the grade http://www.ebay.com/itm/311355831454?_trksid=p2055359.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Same book sold last month for $3,050. I guess the winning bidder didn't pay. He must be kicking himself now
  2. I just made a private deal with the seller j/k some pinoy sneakiness Just add some tocino you have it
  3. I just made a private deal with the seller j/k
  4. I still think SC 22 is the most undervalued key right now..
  5. +1 -J. +1 Yes, just looking at GPA90 or more might not get the job done with all those green arrows. Most dealer prices on key books tend to start over GPA. On books like this (where majority of sales appear to be private) GPA is usually the low-end of the pricing negotiation. DC keys seem to be more subject to private deals than Marvel due to their relative rarity (or perception of) and the higher frequency of Marvel sales in general. At the end of the day it really depends on what the owner paid for it to begin with. FYI - I love how in one thread data like GPA is vilified and in another it is glorified... (Yes I am taking some liberties with exaggerations, but it is funny.) My thoughts exactly
  6. I'm glad I do not have to worry about picking up a copy. The 4.5 Bats 1 is already at over $77k!?!? I think this book will sell for more than the Cap 1 5.5. It's been neck and neck between these two books and we may now see a clear winner.
  7. Most dealers would sell a book over GPA. Again, GPA is not all complete with their data. It is a good basis more or less on what a book is worth. Private sales take place and some auction houses big or small as well as some dealers do not report sale prices
  8. Could be the timing of it all and/or most of the 1.5's that sold are visually weak?
  9. Holy smokes!!!! What a book you have there! Congrats!!
  10. I think for a regular BB28 is around $1000 a point roughly. If book looks better visually and has good PQ, then a slight bump in price seems fair. I just don't see a 4.5 sell for more than $5000.
  11. All Star 3 is a great book to own. Never owned one but would love to someday.
  12. I agree. I think BB28 will pass SC4. But will be interesting to watch. I, on the other hand, do not think BB28 will surpass SC4. It might close the gap between the two books in terms of value when the movie gets closer, but I think SC4 will be priced higher at the same time. SC4 has a few things going for it to make it the top SA DC book. First, it was the book that started the SA era. Second, it is the first appearance of a major superhero. Third, it is rare to find this book in any grade than BB28. These are some if not all the factors BB28 lack. It is like saying AV1 will surpass AF15, Hulk 1, TOS39, JIM83, etc. which I don't think it will also. AV1 is a newer book and does not have the historical significance at all that BB28 has. A better comparison is FF1. BB28 is by many accounts the reason there even is an FF1. The historical significance of BB28 is huge and it is a real first appearance of a team. SC4 is not the first appearance of the Flash... it is 'just' the first appearance in X age (here silver age)... I really like SC4 for the great cover (up there with BB28 and SC34 imo) and it has some historical significance for perhaps (it's debatable) starting the SA with the return of the Flash. But I must say that these 'false 1st appearances' that are only first in x age - are not the same as the real first appearances. What do you mean by real 1st appearance? The GA Flash and SA flash are two completely different heroes. Both have different aliases, costumes, and backgrounds. Same also with Green Lantern. The Flash that most of us know today is the SA Flash character Barry Allen. Also the reason why I compared BB28 to Avengers 1 is because the superheroes in that issue had each of their own 1st appearance issues before they became a group, similar to BB28. Only difference is that BB28 is the start of the 1st SA group. And yes BB28 is more valuable than AV 1 because again it is harder to find and less in high grade. But if AV 1 was just as hard to find than B28, I think their values would equal because Marvel is more popular overall than DC in this day and age. Also, BB28 is not the 1st superhero group ever assembled. That would be All Star 3 back in the 1940s. Could this book be the one that started the team assembly of superheroes? I would think so.

  14. Seems like there have been a lot of shill bidders on ebay recently. Almost all big keys have some low feedback bidder bidding multiple times. Then again, we wouldn't know for certain if it is a shill or an actual bidder.
  15. I sold a 3.0 last month for $7500 to a fellow boardie and really felt more like a "friendly" price than the 9K or so I was going to price it at It's definitely not out of the question that a 3.0 can potentially sell for $9k. I guess we shall see how the other higher graded copies at auctions fair up.
  16. I think I've seen that book before in a CGC slab Certainly looks familiar
  17. I believe not late last year, a boardie sold a 3.0 on here for roughly about the same price. Must be the going rate for 3.0's now, could be slightly more now.
  18. I think if this cover was complete with its interior pages, I can see it grading out as a 5.0
  19. Just finished watching Episode 8. Will likely watch 9 next week. Boy those flashback scenes of Fisk when he was a kid was brutal and well-done. No wonder he grew up the way he did.
  20. Did Bud Plant die? If so, I didn't realize it. Or I guess one other person still living. I'm sure someone will know.
  21. Well, I'd certainly want to hear a 2nd and possibly 3rd story behind the SF books. It's too bad that the people who were involved in selling the batches back then have passed on (except for Bob). I'm wondering if any of their family members had an recollection about stories that they may have told them or even a diary or journal about the find and what books were in the collection. There had to be a piece of paper where all the books were jotted down and accounted for. I can't imagine that none of them would make a list.
  22. Well if your wife ever decides for you to get rid of your comics, you can send them to me and I will kindly accept em
