  1. Best mystery box win ever!!! +1 - let's hear the story. The story is I saw one of those mystery box contests show up on my Facebook feed. Initially, I did not do it, as I am 100% convinced that this stuff is fraudulent. Funny thing, I still am. So totally ignoring my best instincts, I buy two boxes at $99 each, which are guaranteed to contain 5 Silver or Bronze age Spider-Man comics per box, with AF 15 listed as the grand prize, and Amazing Spider-Man 1 as second place. The boxes were limited to 999 of them. The contests ends and the boxes do not ship on time. I contact the company running the contest, and am given the option to cancel my entry, again against my better judgment I do not. About 1 week later I get a priority package containing 10 Bronze age mixed title Spider-Man comics worth maybe $50 on a good day, with this slab tucked between them. I have never won anything except maybe 5 bucks on a scratch off ticket before, and think I just used up all of my winners luck this time around. Wow congrats on winning the grand prize of the mystery box contest! I think I know where you purchased your mystery boxes from because I posted all, about it in the general section. Like most, I thought it was a scam and that no one would pull it out of any of the boxes. I guess we were wrong. Same dealer is still doing mystery boxes as we speak.
  2. It is definitely on my watch list. But man, it's just too bad the book looks like that. I would be surprised if it hits $10k.
  3. What about you since you have 2 copies
  4. Happy Birthday Rick! Have a great time at NYCC!
  5. Holy cow I had to see for myself if the book is really up to $15k and in fact it is!!! Couldn't believe it. I probably would not pay that amount for a 9.8 copy, not even close.. The seller is certainly the one benefiting from this in a big way. Congrats to him or her! Him. Very nice Joey! Mrs. Joey already has plans for the money Mr. Joey wants a Hulk 181 in 9.8 See so it is for the both of you Your book, but Mrs. Joey has plans for the money Congrats!
  6. Congrats to the seller and buyer for sure. That copy is a beauty! I can't believe that the sale price has pretty much reached AF 15 levels in the same grade.

  8. I should've bought multiple copies of this book back then. Had so many opportunities to buy 9.8's for like $350 back then
  9. If you plug in the item # on watch count (in the keyword search box), then it should say "Sold for ______". Sometimes that doesn't work, and you have to click the link that says "check price here on eBay" or "History" and it will take you to the U.K. eBay site which shows the offers/final price. Watch count is helpful for current BIN/Make Offer listings too, because you can see the offers (if any) that have been made/declined. Definitely a useful tool. Thanks Action252kid. I can see it now. Definitely a great tool to have. I wish I knew about this site before Uh....you're welcome. -J. Of course you too J

  11. Hi gator. These are the two copies on ebay that just sold for the $17k+. This one has a big chunk out of the lower left hand front cover - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-4-0-1st-Spiderman-/141687139294?hash=item20fd362bde And this one has marvel chipping- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-Aug-1962-CGC-Grade-4-0-1st-Spiderman-/261972342242?hash=item3cfec4b5e2 I'm inclined to agree with dem, there does seem to be some randomness to these results. Buyers just seem to be paying whatever they see fit to pay for whatever copy that they like. -J. The problem with those buy it now or best offer auctions is that we do not know for sure how much they sold for because ebay does not give us the actual sale price. It could be someone bought it for the buy it now price or maybe the seller took it for $15k. Who knows.. I tend to side that 4.0's are worth in the $16k-$18k range depending on eye appeal. Both of those sold for those prices. As also reported to and by GPA. -J. Ok well if GPA reported then those are what it sold for. Just saying in general we do not know what anything would sell for if buy it now or best offer auctions unless reported. You can also see accepted "best offers" here: http://www.watchcount.com/ -J. I've been scrolling through watch count and still could not find how to look up sale prices for the buy it now/best offer auctions. All I see are books that are currently up for auction with the current bid and how many people are watching.

  14. Doc, Rick will correct me, but it looks like that because of the spine roll CGC put it in a magazine case rather then a standard case. The GA's usually are tight in the standard cases, so I'm guessing its the roll. If you look at the back cover scan, you can see how much the roll is I've had this happen before with some of my books. That is correct on why it was slabbed in a magazine size holder.
  15. Will not see the movie. I don't want that movie to stain the image of Dr. Doom in my head.
  16. Looks and smell fishy. I am 100% certain it is a fraud.
  17. Yep, still a nice appealing book for the grade. Sucks about the stains or else the book would've graded in the 5.0 range I would think. But hey congrats on being an AF 15 member
  18. Back in the club boys! Just bought a copy today.
  19. Showcase #4 is on fire!!! Used to own two universal 6.0's about 3-4 years ago. Sold too cheap
