  1. Not another stolen/missing package .. I'm surprised that there was no signature required for the package especially for the value of the books inside Sorry for the board member, hope he gets his books back in one peace.
  2. Flash Comics #1 CGC 2.5 ended at $51,550. Not sure if this was the same one that sold in 2017 for around $63,500
  3. Anyone have a pic of how "pink" pages look? Curious to see how it looks. Also, how on earth did it turn pink? Was it through the reds of the cover somehow that may have bled through the pages causing it to turn pink i'm guessing?
  4. Congrats Bat34 on winning the book. As previously mentioned it is a stunning looking 2.0 copy and you happened to have won it at the price you were willing to pay There are times, like myself, we get caught up in the heat of the moment with bidding and tend to go beyond our maximum bid
  5. I thought the Tec 35 ended right where I expected it to be considering it has little bit of color touch, glue, and tape. Book has very high eye appeal though. A copy with no such notes would command a higher price.
  6. I don’t know if these estimates were a little overly ambitious but I think we’re going to see some big numbers tonight. I think right around $10k is a good benchmark for the more important pages of the book. The problem with a few of these pages is that they are jacked up with rough edges and pieces missing. If it was a nice clean page without any of those issues, I can see it sell for more. Maybe not at the $20k-$30k levels.
  7. I doubt this strategy would actually work that well. Especially when many of the almost invisible tiny non-color breaking creases for which they whack your book on can only be seen if you hold the actual book up at a certain angle to the light. There'as absolutely no way they can tell with these types of NCB creases through a simple scan. Besides, how would they be able to charge you for this service if you simply sent them a scan? Years back, I would send scans of the book asking if a press would benefit, in which I would get a yay or a nay. I believe this was before Classics Inc. merged with CGC. Looks to be a different policy now. I know also another way is if Matt/CCS are set-up in a show, he can look at your book and let you know, with a small fee. I also remember that if a book would need a press, the pre-screening fee would be waived. If the book did not need a press when you send it in, than you will be charged for the pre-screening fee. As a tip for newbies who may have not sent a book for pressing, it would be wise to take pictures of your book before you ship it out covering all areas, with emphasis on the spine/staple areas. I know some people don't really think about this, but I do this if I needed a book to be pressed.
  8. In your case, which would be less obvious and difficult to determine if a press would benefit, than yes sending it in for review in hand is best. I guess they were a little bit more aggressive with your book during pressing unfortunately than a more conservative approach or it just happened so to speak. This is generally the risks involved in having books pressed from anyone no matter how experienced they are, mistakes can happen. Hopefully CCS compensated you for the damage. I was looking over the online submission form right now and there is an option for pre-screening under "Additional Services" where you select your tier. As others have mentioned, I wish that every press would automatically come with a "pre-screen." Just makes a lot of sense. I'm sure not every presser works this way.
  9. If there were any doubts or questions regarding your book to be pressed, I would've sent scans of the books to CCS first and get their opinion about it
  10. If I was a Centaur collector, I would've been all over that AMF 2/5 book.. It's absolutely beautiful and stunning! Looks more like a Mile High copy to be honest. Congrats to whomever won it.
  11. Upon closer inspection of the book, I do think that there might be some color touch on the cover, appears slight-mod is my guess.. Dunno why at the top of the pages there is a black marker line in the middle. Seems odd.. Then again I am not a professional and it's best to spot resto. work in hand. I'm hoping though that it is unrestored. Definitely have it checked out by an expert and graded. I'm going to give it a 6.5 Slight/Mod.
  12. I've sent in books both lower and higher end to CCS and never had a problem with their pressing/pre-screen services before and after the merge with CGC. I'm sorry to hear a few have had bad experiences with them, hope they made it up to you in the end.
  13. Received all emails as well which goes up to Session #5. Maybe they're in your junk folder?
  14. Wow this sucks!?!? I hope you get your books back!! We've had so many success stories here with books being recovered, most notably Harley's. Will keep my eyes out for them.
  15. Yup another cost of collecting until something changes in the future. What sucks for the states that are being charged a tax is that it's not an even playing field with the states who dont have to pay for it. Only way around it is to apply for a resale certificate I guess..
  16. Yup the sales tax would affect me buying and bidding as well. I believe all major auction house now charges sales tax, at least in CA.
