  1. Amazing list. Given that Mad had such an impact on satire and comedy in general I would think either Kurtzman or Gaines copies of Mad 1 should make the list.
  2. A stand up boardie. A real pleasure to swap funny books with. Highly recommended.
  3. I avoid giving dealers advice about prices as it can sometimes be taken as condescending and dealers generally know what fair market value is. I just make my offer and hope we can reach a compromise that we are both happy with. TOD 10 also has some heat so, as others have said, averaging 2020 prices is not the best way to price the book. Best of luck!
  4. Ended the year with a cool some cool Harvey horror art. A complete four page story from Witches Tales #4 "the Bells of Doom". I believe the artist is Rudy Palais:
  5. I've had books get 9.8 with very small amounts of overspray. But most have come back at 9.4/9.6.
  6. I was thinking 0.5. For a comp here is my book with a large fc tear (which is smaller than the IH181 here and less noticeable).
  7. I think with the spine scrape and dust shadow on the BC I'd put it at an 8.0 too. Is it a River City copy?
  8. That's a tough one. The front presents so nicely. 4.0?
  9. If you like old funny books it's the place to be. I think you have to be a bit more wary of scammers than the boards but there is a big community of good people.
  10. I think message boards are a slightly antiquated medium. The IG comic collecting community might account for some of the decline. That community is very active.
  11. Don't quote me but I have a vague recollection that it had been destroyed in a fire.** **the possibility that I am totally wrong is very high.
  12. Wow! What a coup for Comic Connect. It will be interesting to see where this one lands! https://www.tmz.com/2020/10/13/first-punisher-cover-hits-auction-block-valued-2-million/
  13. What a thread! Wished I hadn't missed it. Very cool stuff!!!!!!
  14. I think it effects the price some. But you get a return for taking the risk of doing the CT removal and getting the blue label. This isn't as recognisable a book but it lends some credence to this point. Slight ct on a 9.0 Strange Suspense Stories 19 originally sold for $3120. 10 months later the same book sells in the same venue as an 8.5 blue for $11,400. https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/strange-suspense-stories-19-charlton-1954-cgc-apparent-vf-nm-90-slight-b-1-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7211-95264.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/strange-suspense-stories-19-charlton-1954-cgc-vf-85-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7231-92073.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  15. I don't own either book but I much prefer 2, it seems to come up for sale less often and census is lower (62 for #1 vs 47 for #2).
  16. +1 I also thought it would do a bit better. But I guess 174k is nothing to sneeze at.
  17. Less than a week left and the Tracy highest graded bondage cover is currently at $12 which is less than it cost to get graded!!
