  1. Unless Spider-man made a crossover appearance in Batman #315 you've loaded pictures of different books in the one thread
  2. Dave Sim didn't hold back parodying Marvel characters, hey I read Spider-Ham was Marvel replying in kind to Dave's Cerebus character. Funny stuff
  3. I own this too. Jim Lee's art is cool and distracted from at times less than great writing. He has his critics; saying his work lacks depth and intimacy. His X-men (volume 2) is regarded by some as one of the events marking the end of the Copper Age. I know my collecting as a kid petered out after that
  4. Yes, GoCollect doesn't acknowledge the copper age, and according to them the Bronze age ends in 1985. See image below
  5. Batman #366 1983 first Jason Todd as Robin (unofficial), Jokers Wild - Walt Simonson cover is consistently selling on eBay for a fair bit more than the $20 USD high average in Key Collector. Some of the copies (not these 2) but others are clearly mid grade too eg. plenty of spine ticks, small stains & rough corners (I'm still getting used to 1983 being in the Bronze age. I always thought of 80s = copper. Anyway.....)
  6. I'm sure it's just a coincidence I don't remember either of them being interested in bronze age books. Comics can be like the innocent children caught between the parents
  7. Jason, maybe it's time for a reunion Just kidding. I'm mainly a copper guy but I LOVE Bronze age X-men. My UXM129 first Kitty,133 first Solo Wolvie & 109 first Weapon Alpha are 3 of the favourite books in my PC. They're not 9.8 contenders but I treasure them anyway.
  8. Good pick up, MAR1979. The first issue of the "Fists of Konshu" (2nd volume) says nothing about it being a limited series on the cover, indices etc... either. So Key Collector is wrong.
  9. Wait, jokes aside some of the spec has trickled down! Time to put it in a fresh bag & board and cash it in on eBay. So the answer to the original poster is yes you should start treating your Moon Knight books better as we all know how important condition is to sale price
  10. Hi. I resurrected this thread as I've thought of another type of comic loss. The book you regret selling. It's different to the other categories as you chose to let it go. In my case when I got back into collecting a couple of years ago I did a big clean out of all the dreck in my collection. I managed to find a buyer for the bulk lot, who was going to resell them through her market stall that raises money for abandoned dogs, which to me is a great charity. Anyway in the midst of all the books I gathered up, one slipped through the cracks. It was basically worthless and I wasn't attached to it at all. But after I got home from giving the books to the lady my son asked me. "Dad, where's the Young Justice #1?" I thought I'd left that one out, but no. He didn't say anything, but the little look of sadness in his eyes was hard to take.
  11. This week I got my first ever slabbed graded comic! Hey for an Aussie collector that's a big deal And I've basically completed my collection of McFarlane Spidey keys thanks to the generosity of a member of our amazing CGC community
  12. Can somebody let me know when the Moon Knight spec trickles down to volume 3 #1? Have to say it has a cool cover as shown below & Carl Potts is an underrated copper age artist. Yes, it's currently in a sh$tty bag I've also got the first issue for volume 2 the fist one. Honestly, how many volumes and reboots can 1 character have? If there's a limit surely he would be getting close
  13. No probs I think that can be pressed out for a grade bump. Same, Hulk 340 is one of my most treasured keys. It's more than just an iconic cover. It features one of the best & most violent Hulk v Wolvie battles ever. Yeah Peter David is one of my favourite writers too. I've added the few McFarlane Hulk books I don't have to my hunt list
  14. It's worth more than most people might expect; $55 high grade average according to Key Collector. I'm a McFarlane collector & like his Hulk nearly as much as his Spider-man Anyway I was thinking 7.5-8. Copy presents well with an accumulation of light edge wear and spine ticks. My biggest concern is it looks like there's spine roll
  15. OK. Was hoping for some magic remedy like rub it with a little methylated spirits or something. Anyway thanks for the responses
  16. Hi. As a kid I purchased Justice League #1 (1987) off the wall from an LCS. When I got it home I realized the little round sticker I'd seen was actually on the inside of the bag and I removed it. Anyway it left a mark. See a picture below. Can I do anything about it now? Any suggestions on how to fix or lighten it will be appreciated and acted upon. I'll post the results in this thread in the future. Will the fact it's mostly on a white area help? Thanks .
  17. Hey copper crew! Here's 3 books which are new to my collection in the last week... Crisis on Infinite Earths remains arguably the greatest crossover event in comic book history. I've got a scattering of the 12 issues & I was happy to pick up one I didn't have cheaply from a country LCS while on holidays. Saddened to hear about George Perez's health; an all time great A bunch of minor 1st appearances in this one, but interestingly it's Hellblazer/John Constantine's 2nd full appearance.... This next book is heating up, you might even say it's on fire... Sorry visual dad joke Featuring the 1st appearances of X-men Forge & villain Naze/Adversary; it's UXM 184. What's the chances of Disney including this North American Indian X-men in future MCU movies? The work of another of my favourite artists, Art Adams, X-men annual 10 is the 1st appearance of the X-babies (de-aged X-men, as opposed to the baby clones in annual 12) and also introduces Longshot to the team. Will Disney produce an X-babies cartoon to entertain the little kids, while the bigger ones are enjoying the aforementioned movies?
  18. Sorry if this is off top but I was annoyed by this documentary which aired over here recently that insinuated being a Punisher fan was a factor leading to a mentally ill man's violent crimes https://www.9now.com.au/australian-crime-stories/season-4/episode-8
  19. Most peoples goals are to buy less it seems, but mine is actually to spend a little more but still modest aspirations compared to a lot of boardie's usual investments ASM #298 to complete my run of McFarlane Spidey keys Batman 357 or 366 etc to add a nice Don Newton pencilled Batman key to my PC Swamp Thing 37 to complete my run of Alan Moore swamp thing keys. Probably too much to get approval from the missus. In a similar vein New Mutants #98 This is a cheap one. It's just a matter of finding it on the hunt as I don't want to pay postage for it. Justice League America #33 (1989) to complete my Adam Hughes' Justice League run. There's also a couple of Alan Davis Excalibur's in the 40s I'm missing. The Miller Wolverine & the Zeck Punisher minis would be cool too. That's enough for now Getting back into collecting a couple of years back I realized the reason I stopped buying certain titles as a kid was due to an artist I liked leaving, rather than laziness. For a while I considered being a numeric completion-ist collector. Getting every issue from 1-50 for example. But when I actually picked up a couple of the gap issues and read them, even decades later, I still couldn't handle paying good money for bland, unappealing, hack artwork. In that regard at least I haven't changed over the decades Anyway Merry Xmas everybody and I hope Santa brings you all the books you want
  20. Sorry, here's a shot outside of the bag. CBR shows this as being Max's first appearance. It's time Key Collector caught up And here's a shot of Max from the Netflix Punisher series for good measure
  21. Why get a copy of Punisher 54? It’s the first appearance of the Punishers dog, Max, as per the official Marvel online database. It’s not currently a key in Key Collector, so get it while it’s cheap. It’s a low key - key you could say, or maybe a Loki. Max the Punishers pit bull pet has already featured in the Netflix Punisher series. If and when Disney brings the Punisher into the MCU you can be sure Max will feature and will perhaps be used to make him more family friendly. Maybe they’ll do a series like Turner & Hooch but with a bigger body count. Castle & Max, I can see it now. Or maybe even his own series like Lassie! Anyway, if you’re a fan of the Punisher and dogs, this under the radar first appearance of his pit-bull pet is a fun book to own. It’s also the first (and hopefully last) appearance of the Punishers Liefield-esque pouch costume.
