  1. I'm also in the midst of grinding out the last of my ASM run. I think I have around 15 books left and they're mostly Lee/Ditko issues but there are a couple major keys sprinkled elsewhere that I'm missing... #50... #129... I really only got back into collecting a bit over a year ago. Completing the ASM run was something 10-year-old me thought would be literally impossible. Now I'm on the cusp. Not sure how I'll feel when I'm done but I enjoy collecting, flipping, looking at my run... think I'll keep it but who knows. As for you... if you're looking to sell at least time it up with one of the Spidey movies dropping. When the trailer for this winter's movie hits and we learn who the villain is there will be a real feeding frenzy for ASMs. My worthless prediction is that we get Scorpion, the groundwork is laid for the Sinister Six, and the main villain is a bronze age character. Maybe an ally under the misguided leadership of JJJameson... it'd make sense for Kraven to be the one hunting for Spidey now that his identity is known... but it'd also make sense if it were Silver Sable instead. Ultimately only you can say what will make you happiest. If you think selling your books and dumping everything into a 529 for kiddo is what'll do it for you, do that
  2. Late on this but the spec cycle has a couple waves... The initial announcement sets the new price FLOOR, not ceiling. Then the trailers cause another boost provided they're not terrible. Finally, if the project is successful, the release will cause another boost but this is a gamble. A bad movie can kill values too(See: X-Men #101 after the Phoenix movie and X-Factor #6 after the underwhelming Apocalypse feature). So as crazy as it seems we haven't necessarily seen the peak of say, ASM #300 or ASM #361. If Venom 2 is more well-received than Venom 1 those books will keep rising as crazy as that sounds. Just imagine millions of people see the movie and even half of a percentage of them decide they want a copy of ASM 300 or ASM 361 after seeing the movie... that's a TON of new buyers even though those aren't uncommon books. That's basically the same thing we saw with WandaVision, what we're seeing with Godzilla, and what we will see with Loki and this fall's comic movies IF THEY'RE GOOD. Last caveat carries lots of risk for speculators
  3. I picked up 3 copies from my LCS yesterday, one of covers A, B, and C. Think they have plenty left might go back and double dip. Think I should stick to Cover A this time? The other covers are genuinely pretty dang cool for this one
  4. One of the greatest covers of all-time, in amazingly high grade, and I'm sure it's up quite a bit since last year too. Nice buy and an even nicer book!
  5. Should we be paying attention to which villains feature in AAA video games? Do you think the villains announced to feature in the Spider-Man 2 could cause movement? I feel like Tombstone's first appearance heated up last year and the only thing he had been in recently was a kinda big role in the Spider-Man PS4 game. I always pick up WOS#36 because my first Spidey comic ever featured Tombstone and it had always been a cheapie I liked but now it fetches more like $30 or $40+ in good shape. Used to trade slightly above a random back issue kinda like Omega Red's first app...
  6. My LCS can do pre-screens of 5 books... now it's all I ever sub for moderns and bronze age ASM run filler

  9. I'm going to. They also have a run of Daredevil 8-31 that I want to pick up too so going to have to list some books tonight
  10. I'm sure I missed it but if this is still out there E: It was not
  11. It's immoral but I get it now. Even though this isn't real and I know it's not real I'm thinking about picking up the ASM Annual 1 nearby. Only has half a cover, think it was a returned copy back in the day but I don't have one and now I want it

  13. Foil stamped or os this like a Ren & Stimpy #1 sort of deal?
  14. IMO this is the granddaddy of all Carnage keys. Bigger than his first app IMO. Super rare period and especially in high grade. I want a nice one of these boys bad. This is one of the biggest grails in my scope for the next year or two. Need to finally start a sales thread here Mind Bomb has a better cover and is Carnage's first solo title but the sequel It's a Wonderful Life is pretty low print and worth looking out for.
  15. 41 was the other one I was trying not to mention, you sly dog! Ah well, shouldn't have taken my time. Same story as the GR1. Congratulations sir those are good buys! I'm shutting up for the rest of this thread and forever more
  16. It's always going to be in the eye of the beholder and relative to what your collection already has. There are still some nice ASMs unclaimed, IMO. Not super high grade because they're early issues but decently higher than mine. I have a higher grade ASM 20 than the one in this thread, but I do think the one here is at a fair price. Pinups weren't removed at quite the rate of the infamous tattooz but I do think people should pay more attention to those particular ASM issues than they do. And I think Scorpion will definitely be in the MCU. They didn't tease him in Homecoming for no reason. Few other ASMs I'm considering in here but won't spoil those since the one here WOULD be my highest grade copy of some of those issues
  17. Video game comics ARE on fire right now and are worth discussing but yeah this is an odd thread. A 9.8 of SMB #1 sold for almost $900 last month. Another copy was listed at $1,500 but they accepted a best offer so idk. As far as I know these early Valiant books had pretty low print runs, I've never seen any Nintendo comics in real life. Definitely something to keep an eye out for I think a lot of shop owners would assume it's junk and just dollar bin it
  18. I mean I have a hell of a lot of old video games but they're not in good condition, box and manual and all, until it gets to the Playstation 2/Gamecube era for me. I have plenty of N64 games, but I didn't keep the cardboard boxes... Pretty amazed at this trend honestly, it didn't matter whether you had the box when reselling games until pretty recently
  19. There are some very nice books left. Some that I am thinking about pulling the trigger on. Some nice books that I already have but these would be niiiiiiiice upgrades
  20. Thank you! It's a longshot wrapped in a bigger longshot - me getting to go at all - so I'm not holding out hope. It's okay, life is good! My Holy Grail is AF15. Not super rare and they change hands all the time so eventually, after saving for a few years and unloading my duplicates, I'm sure I'll score one. There are only two really rare books that I'm looking for: Maximum Carnage #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #184 All/No-price variant. I stupidly let a sealed copy of the #184 variant go in a big lot that ultimately sold for under $1,000. Also had a NICE copy of #194 and #238 in there. I soon learned that the no-price copy of ASM #184 was probably worth a grand on its own. And I think the 238 in that lot was 9.4+ so it was probably worth a grand by itself. Oh and the #194 was 9.4+ as well so it was close. There are very few auctions I've lost out on that I remember, especially from over a year ago but I don't know if I'll ever forget that one. Just me and 1 other bidder. I tell myself that that guy probably had a reserve price of $3k or something I wouldn't have paid... but I should've at least tried up to at least $1,500... haven't seen a sealed copy of the no-price ASM #184 come up for sale since... And then there's Maximum Carnage #1. Really rare reprint that came with the deluxe edition of the Maximum Carnage video game, and it used that cool CGI image of Carnage they put on the box. Would love to have a high grade slabbed copy of that one. A 9.8 would be a literal dream
