  1. WIth Panter's early items, there seems to be no real definitive info. Here's what I've learned, the 1st pictured one is not a 1st print, but a 2nd or later print, the "copied" signature at the top is the clue. There's a video on youtube I've posted that shows Robert Williams open up his copy and tit's the same size about as that one and there's no signature at the top of that page. I'm unaware of these smaller editions, but know the last one was a high quality printing done in Orange County, CA.with a glossy cover that is about the same size as the early ones. Panter told me that he would let DiCaprio reprint his books and that's who I suspect did the printing with the copied signature at the top of the page. I've got a HUP 1st print by Panter that George DiCaprio used to make the 2nd printing of HUP., which lost the blue color on the cover for the 2nd printing.
  2. This goes to show that you should always keep looiking even it it's been fore ever since the last one showed up. In Jan. and Feb. there were 3 copies of Panter's the A S S individual_without_enough_empathy (1st print) that sold on eBay. So if anyone here picked up multiple copies, I'm still looking for one. There's a 2nd copy of 101 Views of the individual_without_enough_empathy up on eBay now, but the seller want's more than I've got to spend on it, even if it's one of a 100.
  3. Chuck R. posted pics. today on the facebook Fogel's page of his Underground Comix collection and I was rather surprised he posted a picture of himself in drag letting people know he goes across country performing in drag shows. Very interesting man. Is this commonly known before and old news?
  4. After the success of the Black Panther movie, I'm assuming people are going after the first Black hero character comic book?
  5. I believe it is from Dan Clowes, but wasn't familiar it was from the Eightball series. Was it printed like so and included or was it reprinted with the record?
  6. Picked up the first 2 issues of Chad In Amsterdam, a modern Underground. Also purchased the original art for the cover of #2 from a Russian artist who posted it on her Instagram account. http://www.chadinamsterdam.nl/ Also, if you find this '94 spoken word double record, there's a parody of a Chick Track included.
  7. Very cool item, found some for sale by a couple sellers in France and ordered a couple.
  8. https://www.drmartens.com/us/en/c/rick-griffin-boots?hploc=banner1&hptag=rick-griffin Too bad not in my size.
  9. I think that's where the major motion picture or multiples of are going to start from.
  10. Yes, and if one or more of the new TV characters becomes popular, then this book has a better chance than most of becoming hot and going up in value.
  11. Doing a seach I came across this. Looks like there was a numbered 1/100 edition of Gary Panter's 1977 Hup (you can see it's a 1st print because of the blue on the cover in the HUP title). I think I read there were 500 printed, looks like 100 of them were signed and numbered. This is new to me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GARY-PANTER-mini-comic-034-HUP-034-SIGNED-1977-edition-32-100-/183416495228?hash=item2ab4799c7c%3Ag%3ADPkAAOSwkXlbjw3I&nma=true&si=cnIL%2FwMMIzam%2Bf0djdlUhuUHlwU%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  12. I thought I read that Gary claimed to have the first Comic Book shop in the U.S. that only sold Comic Books, what we consider now a comic book shop/store. Every other comic book store before his was always somehow just a portion or counter rented in a store or sold mostly other items with some comics books. I'm guessing that SIdebottom probably started out as selling other items mainly or was not his full shop? Anyone go to Sidebottoms when it first opened up?
  13. After watching Sunday night's episode I went on eBay and bought up a couple 9.8 of #127 due to the time jump and a bunch new characters for possible investment. Anyone else feel the same?
  14. I think I recall that he left it to a couple women he knew. I know Dan knows who they are and where it went.
  15. Thanks! On one of the old Underground Comix forums, now long gone, that we used to post on, Patrick Rosenkranz invited Dave Moriarty (one of the founders of Rip Off Press, and the guy actually manning the printing press for this cover of the first print of Freak Brothers) to come to the forum and discuss some of his memories. One of the things he mentioned was that on the first true print of Freak Brothers #1 there was a black smudge (looks like a thin trails of smoke or curved black lightning) on the center of the cover going from Fat Freddy's head to the cops behind and along the wall to the handrail of the staircase that he "fought" to prevent it from getting worse and spreading as the print went through the run, this was something not previously known. I suspect he meant it's from the first portion of the 1st print, but he said it was the first print (of 5,000 if I recall correctly) that it showed up on and I wasn't going to argue with him since he was the one actually manning the printer. So, now you know what the black smudge looks like if you see another copy and want a true 1st print. Moriarty then was also the one to confirm that Big A s s #1 with the red box (and pages out of order, which was my discovery) was the 1st print, not the white box version (with the pages also out of order, which was only in the first 2 printings).
  16. And about a decade later, after only seeing 2 of these previously in this decade, I happen to come across 2 by the same seller while searching eBay one late night/early morning while not being able to sleep.
  17. That Dirty Plotte vol. 2 #3 that was just on eBay had an insert I believe. I don't see the Raw issues with Maus that went from #2 to issue 7 or 8? Didn't one of the Corpsemeat has an insert, or was that already discussed? Miami Pop Festival had a loose map also.
  18. Those original Dirty Plotte #1, 2, and vol. 2 #3 went for a pretty penny. https://www.ebay.com/itm/DIRTY-PLOTTE-1-1988-MINI-COMIC-FROM-BEFORE-SHE-WAS-FAMOUS/113319959663?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Notice this set of Ron Cobb stuff with set #4 (that I logged in for too late) that sold for in the $50's and the previous ones down to the $30's. So I made an offer for set #5 for $100 thinking that's more than reasonable, but didn't hear anything back. Well, seems set #5 sold for $560. https://www.ebay.com/itm/COLLECTION-LOT-OF-RON-COBB-PRINTS-MOCK-UP-STATS-FOR-AD-MATERIAL-SAWYER-PRESS-5-/292781952751?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137
  19. Matt Huber (1stComix) announced he's selling his Underground Comix collection in whole. One of the finest collections with many of the highest graded examples. Price unknown, probably a few more duckets than I've got.
  20. I don't think the 4 cassette's are different, I think they're 4 of the same copies. Someone was selling a box of these on Etsy and I picked up the last copies. Think they said they found a box of 200 of them in a closet.
  21. Looking forward to reading your book in November. I went to the Oar House a couple times in the late 80’s or early 90’s, what a fun place, but who would have thought it held such history I would become so fascinated with later on.
  22. So, I just received confirmation that most of the Underground art was destroyed in the fire, so they weren’t part of the 1974 art crew that helped repair the fire damage (and was told they weren’t part of the 1973 remodel). He estimated the art was from the late 60’s, but that seems a bit early for the group of Zap that included Robert Williams (thought he join the Zap group around 1970?). He also confirmed it was the same Tony Bell that did the menu above and the “Spaghetti Tuesday” ad as well as co-creator of Wonder Wart-Hog.
  23. This looks like it could also be Tony Bell (co-creator with Gilbert Shelton of Wonder Wart-Hog).
