Bottom back corner of this recently sold or ended ebay Mark Jewelers ASM CGC 9.8 301 sale? Seen some crappy 9.8s but this book is a nightmare to get CGC to 9.8. Take what you will and investigate. Not sure if it was just a hatchet grading job or something's up..............

Now every ASM 252 CGC 9.8 looks suspicious to me... currently on eBay (see pics).
I guess buy the book not the grade applies all to well here.
That couldn't possibly be a swiped book.
Judging by the ebay seller name, they may have glasses for U that while wearing will avoid being able to see this nasty ding.

@kimik you're probably like me just wanting the best Sci fi stuff to drop. We get what we get ;-) Argue with ya on that show but no point. We all have our opinions.

Most of the books I've found on worthpoint relied on that "$$$ and Hard work" line. This is NOT one of those books that contains that phrase. That tells me there may be a whole lot more books out there this seller has touched. The seller location jives with one of the known addresses. While the shill bidding/manipulation was certainly going on for many years, I'm not so sure about the label swapping/reholdering. I think that didn't get wings until 2021-ish.
Pandora's box. Hopefully less than we are praying it's not

I suggested they put hologram stickers on all 4 edges but the moderator said that would be a 'waste of time'. I still wonder why he would say such a thing.
not a bad suggestion. I amped it up with comic link stickers Plus 1700X adhesion about ahhhhh 50-60 pages back. I think my follow up was based on your original suggestion tho

The blue label indicates that the MVS is intact... at least it used to. I wouldn't buy a 181 graded before CGC fixes their processes.
Yeah exactly. Same here. Guess adding it at this point would make the other blue labels look like they don't have it so probably not a good option at any rate. Free resubs on any questionable books that ppl were worried about hopefully with some form of compensation if something was not as it should be would be a start. We'll see what transpires though.

New Hulk 181 submissions should come with a "Marvel Value Stamp Intact" on the label....

Make no assumptions about where this might go.
The same Purple label Hulk 8.0 cert # that sold on 11/21 for $2.040, sold on December 11th for $3,800.
There's money in everything, including lower grade purple reholdered in to a higher grade slab.
Speaking of books sold on December 11th....
Recent purchase though so likely wouldn't get through at this point.

The over under date is likely January 2nd for a CGC reply

I feel this is still localized within the CGC fan community and spreading slightly elsewhere. Casual collectors(which still make up the bulk of potential CGC customers) are completely unaware of this situation. Until it hits the media, it's not going to have any measurable impact. Google "CGC" then hit the news tab and all that comes up is a publicly traded pot company.
