  1. I just recently did a trade for this and it is now available. This is complete and unrestored, (I had the owner of the LCS double check it for me), and in pretty good shape with the cover still fully attached. A graded 6.0 recently sold on ebay for $8,800 (best offer accepted though) and I am looking for $5,500 trade or $4,800 cash. It's on ebay for 5k and there is one is worse condition for 3k. Payments through Paypal G&S only. Shipping included to the USA and would be fully insured. No international shipping for this. I would put this around a 5.0 but judge for yourself and ask any questions you have. Trades should be 5 books or less. First claim in this thread beats any discussions in pm. I can provide references if needed. Thanks for looking! Extra value given to TMNT #1 and WWBN #32/#33 for trades. No returns for buyers remorse. Returns accepted within 48 hours if the book is not in the condition I listed it or as pictured.
  2. I think these forums are great. Very informative AND entertaining, that's hard to find!
  3. That's over 31,000 offices, which means on average, each office is processing about 775 pieces per day. Obviously some are going to be much higher and lower but that's the numbers.
  4. This is how I shipped a larger lot. Always leave room on all sides for impact. Its sitting on a 3 deep layer of old Geminis and another 3 deep layer went on top before sealing up.
  5. Thanks for posting the emails to give the full picture. It is confusing to me why there is such a clear discrimination against buyers in the auction world. Buyers are legally bound by their bids, sellers should be legally bound by their listings. On the one hand I see people saying nothing can be done because that's the way it is. On the other hand I see people saying to be careful because all these people and places talk. Which is it? If all these people and places do indeed communicate about bad apples, then why are sellers continually allowed to pull listings at what looks like their discretion? As to the auction house not being accountable to letting that go for 6 weeks, well if CC can't keep up with past sales at least every week, then they need to hire someone to exclusively do that. Letting a $4,500 sale go 6 weeks is ridiculous and if there isn't already a system in place in the company to prevent that from happening, they need to add one. It shouldn't be too hard to have a program written that pulls all sales that aren't closed yet every week for someone to follow up on. We have the technology.
  6. The Brooklyn Brawler was just announced as a guest for this.
  7. Should have asked what font size they classify as "big". 😆
  8. It sounds like this issue keeps happening. From a business perspective, this should be an easy fix. Give sellers 7 days to ship the book with tracking or inform you it is lost. Every week after that is 10% off of the original sale price refunded to the buyer at the sellers expense. And if the seller cancels or can't find it, they cover the paypal fees, or CC does. The buyer should NEVER have to cover fees for problems they don't cause or create. Thats just bad business. See how many books dont get shipped if you do that.
  9. Nah you're right they should just announce another signing and ignore the issue.
  10. Bump for a final discount to $2,500 for the lot cash, PayPal G&S, shipped and insured. Will consider trades of equal value.
  11. You should be able to grow lots of new kidneys if you plant those!
  12. I asked this last week in the fb group and got some good answers. https://www.facebook.com/groups/274684996585171/permalink/820956568624675/
  13. I won't be sending anything in until they publicly admit and successfully address this QC issue.
  14. I gave this some more thought and came up with a basic layout idea for foreign editions. I know it would create a headache for any currently graded ones, but that can't be helped in almost any change to the labeling system for these. I think a split label would be a good idea as it would immediately tell the buyer that they are looking at a foreign edition. I have no graphic skills but you can get the idea from this. Split the label down the middle with the bar code and whatever else you want there, then put 2 columns of information on either side. If an edition contains multiple comics, you can add multiple rows to the contains side. This would be the most informative approach, at least imo coming in with almost no knowledge of these. I would be able to immediately tell just about everything I would want to know about the edition and its US counterpart. It also would prevent any future confusion as buyers would immediately know by the different layout of the label that this was not a normal US version.
  15. I'm just talking about the jurisdiction of the FTC in general, they also are in charge of advertising. My point was if the FTC cared about the comic industry and doing their job, they would enforce their rules against "misleading or deceptive advertising" that just about every publisher and store exclusive does with their "Limited to 1000" etc misleading and deceptive claims.
  16. If the FTC cared about comics, they would make publishers and exclusives disclose true print runs.
  17. Being new to foreign editions and finding that I really love them but dont know much about them, I would definitely prefer a literal label-it-what-it-says-it-is vs a label-it-what-we-think-they-bought-it-as approach so that I can know I have fully correct info on the label, not what could be categorized as essentially "guesswork". Marwood makes many excellent and logical points on why the dog-is-a-dog approach is the best solution for all and it would be the best decision going forward, although it might require a little more work updating the census, but that should really be done anyways if the information is incorrect. I would be very mad if I bought a foreign edition that said "Amazing Spiderman 129" on it and I later found out it was a 3 dollar reprint. That is the responsibility CGC has in this. They have... well, great power in this area to set the future standard and they will either set the industry on the right course or create a huge headache for the industry going forward.
  18. This is gathering some steam in the rumor mill. All I can say is I see a lot of people laughing it off, not necessarily here, but I remember how much most people laughed when the rumor first broke years back that Disney was buying Star Wars. You just never know...
  19. I have what I think is a great deal on these 4 slabs. First up is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #1, 9.4 White Pages, SS signed by Kevin Eastman, newsstand edition. Only 13 on the census and they don't separate newsstands, so potentially the only 1 in this grade or 1 of 2 or 3. Only comparable newsstand is an 8.0 on ebay for $1,000. I've spoke with multiple people who all agree this newsstand has a FMV in the neighborhood of $2,000. 2nd and 3rd are the Love is Love convention exclusives, only 8 total are on the census. It has a beautiful all black cover and I have one of the 6 9.8's and the only 9.6. This is the first official appearance of Harry Potter in a comic book. Graders notes on the 9.6 are "light bend front cover". Both are unpressed. No 9.8s have been sold that I can find and I have the only one for sale. I talked to other sellers who think the 9.8 has a FMV in the neighborhood of $1,000, the 9.6 around $250. 4th is Department of Truth #1 Alan Quah Top Secret red foil cover (cover T on the census), 1 of only 25 9.8s on the census. One is for sale for $650 on ebay, no recent sales the last few weeks to compare against. Estimated FMV $500. FMV on these is in the neighborhood of $3,750, I am putting the lot at $1,000 off of that, over 25% off, so $2,750 and that is shipped and fully insured in the USA for all 4 slabs. I would be open to trades but it would have to be a higher value, that is a cash sale price. Payment through PayPal G&S. These are listed in other areas as singles and lots, but nowhere are they listed as a lot of 4. This is the best price on them listed anywhere. First claim in this thread takes it. I will hear any offers but this is pretty firm as I think it is a solid deal for someone.
