Googling found this topic for me as I have a couple SS books that I would like pressed while retaining their SS label. From my view, if a business can start a chain of custody with your SS series with their own in house signing, and then send those in to CGC to receive SS labels, they should also be able to receive an already sealed CGC SS comic and start a new chain of custody by opening those cases and adding a new sig and/or cleaning and/or pressing if they also offer those services in house. Allowing them to create a new chain of custody with new books but not start an updated one with already graded CGC SS books doesn't make sense from a business model, not to mention the potential added revenue stream for CGC. Want to use a non-CCS service? no problem but there will be a $4.95 - $9.95 upcharge per book, it would all go to CGC and you would get a revenue boost without having to do anything aside from some new paperwork and website updates. CGC wins, the customer base wins, there is no downside to this business model. CCS will stay plenty busy and some people who won't use CCS will generate new revenue in fees for CGC that would otherwise never be generated. win/win.

Summit comics in Lansing, Michigan has the custom store variant here for Kaiju #1, as well as some Eniac #2 and Tankers #1 left, both first prints.

Talked to the LCS manager earlier today about this as he just got his 1/1000 back as a 9.8. Beautiful book. He said they are allowing full returns while keeping variant covers, he is expecting to send 500+ back, so while 600k may have been ordered, most of those are getting the covers ripped off and sent back for credits while keeping the variants. Long term this may have some actual potential if 400k+ get returned

I wanted to start a thread where the people who do buy mystery boxes and participate in raffles and such could talk about their experiences with it. I would like to keep this from becoming a debate on the merits of this practice, we all know how those opposed to them feel and there are multiple threads where we can see their opinions expressed. Please keep posts in this thread to participation only, thanks! I did a decent amount of research on ebay and instagram and have watched a ton of unboxing videos and it seems that instagram has far superior boxes right now. bay seems to be largely big lots of dud boxes, usually hundreds, with very few scattered hits. Instagram is largely lots of much smaller boxes where each box tries to at least achieve close to the purchase price with several boxes exceeding it. These range from 25 bucks to $1,000+. There are a few dedicated box sellers on IG and then there are a lot of people who put boxes together sporadically, sometimes only offering a single box or two with great value. So I bought my first IG box, from t_ravis_comics_spineticks for 50 bucks shipped, top prize was a Logans Run #6 *** graded 9.0, so nothing huge but a decent comic, he only had 11 boxes up so I bought one. Got it and nothing big in it but a decent mix, 17 books total, mostly copper. I'm waiting to try a box from eye_candy_comics and chuchucomics, they seem to be the top 2 in the game for the higher end boxes and usually only offer single digit boxes, I've seen some amazing unboxes from them. The worst seems to be torpedo, but I still ordered a $25 box from them to see, but they do a lot of boxes and offer larger lots closer to the ebay model.

I can see several boxes next to Dormant Keys lol... "Potential Keys" "Future Keys" "Undiscovered Keys" "Non-Key Keys"

This is now the scarcest slab I own, 1 of 1 at 9.6 and only 1 9.8 on the census of 4 total slabs. Scarce final issue!

With the comic market exploding like it is, will it mean the end of the dollar box? I've already seen one store switch to a 2 dollar/3 for 5 box setup.

I got my first submission ever back today, didn't hit the 9.8 but it's a fair grade looking at it. No newton rings that I can see!

I have a picture of a pristine annual #1 that I can offer as a NFT for the low low price of $99 and I promise to never use the image again. What a deal!

Did he foot the entire bill for it?

It wasn't ebay, it was one of those smaller local auction houses so I have no idea

I've encountered a little confusion around this elsewhere so let me clarify a couple things: There is a movie with Sylvester Stallone called "Samaritan" where he plays Stanley Kominski, Samaritan. This characters first appearance is in Astro City #1. That movie is in post production according to IMDB. There is ALSO a TV show for Astro City itself in development since 2018, but it is currently on pause due to covid, but that appears to be the only delay. So this is a double spec book, Samaritan trailer should drop anyday and should push this issue for Samaritan first appearance and then in the future at whatever date the TV show debuts it should spike again.

This is my secret spec I've been promoting for a bit. I just posted the video on IG. This is set for release June 8th of this year and no trailer has dropped yet. It stars Sylvester Stallone and he plays Samaritan 20 years after he is washed up. Only a few pics leaked back in January and he wasn't in any costume. It is listed as post production on IMDB. The trailer could literally drop any day! Good luck getting your copies, 203 total on the CGC census! This also has a ton of other first appearances that could be in the movie. Alex Ross early cover. Venom 3 9.8s are down to 275 on IG and sales on Ebay seem to be a bit down. People might be dumping it on the KiB leak from yesterday.
