  1. Maybe that explains why his name is Grimm.
  2. Maybe that transformation gave Ben a Prince Albert...?
  3. Interesting that in your copy the Panther seems to have a circular "badge" in the centre of his chest, just like in my copy. The post after mine, that circle has moved to his leg and then in many other copies it is not there at all. This must make our copies very rare cover variants worth much more $$$. ;-)
  4. I did likewise, spending $100 on FF#1 in mid-70s. Your book is in better grade than what I got though.
  5. The obverse of this question is that the white on the mis-wrap shows up soiling and tanning more. How much do these affect grading?
  6. Yep - a lot of things bought for $100 back in the '80s would have lost all value, so it was a good investment.
  7. You have a great alias! PS Agree with the score too esp after C&P
  8. The problem with the tape on inside cover is the stain has come through and we have seen that by itself invokes a -1 grade penalty. Otherwise it presents nicely for such an old book. 3.5 to 4.
  9. Congratulations! I feel a warm glow for helping you get that... ;-)
  10. Regardless of which it is, you would have to say that, like Zabu, he is getting long in the tooth.
  11. +1. I was also thinking it was easily 8 or above. It is always hard to judge from these pics how much above 8 books should be.
  12. 5.5 Get it pressed before you submit it.
  13. You paid in A$ but the value goes up in US$. So, nice investmentent!
  14. Congratulations on getting this book, and it looks great for the grade. I am not sure that books should be deprecated so much for what may have happened to the back cover. No-one ever looks much at the ads and certainly no-one ever proudly displays their trophy books' back covers. If they really want to bring the back cover into the grade, they could establish a moe equitable two digit grading system where the cover can be graded as normal and the second digit grades the back cover on a scale of 1 to 5. So for example a good looking book with a dinged back cover could be a 6.52
  15. Haha, yes it can be! But none of my rugs are as valuable as my AF15 or even Hulk 181. Also, unlike them, they will not increase in value over the years.
  16. Does that mean ANY water damage automatically reduces the grade to 2.5?
  17. This was the first Spidey I owned back in the '60s and was just so impressed by that great cover. Your copy looks much nicer than my well-loved copy does now. It's tough to get it in high grade It's in the 4 range and I will also extend to 4.5.
  18. Great to see your rationale and all those notes! I also scored them 2.5 and 4.5 FWIW.
  19. Everyone should get all the BWS Conan books. They were one of the best highlights of the '70s and terribly undervalued IMHO.
  20. To follow up, is it the implication that color rub is not deprecated? In that case, how to distinguish between that and soiling/staining?
