The OP asked about not closing flaps. There was some discussion a couple of months ago with some people saying to leave them open to allow ventilation from outgassed byproducts of oxidation. (We know that happens - you can see it from the yellowing of bags in long-term storage). But what do most here think about leaving the flaps open? Think of the savings on tape if nothing else ;-)

Commiserations! That has happened to me, too. It was with a different auction house and with a book that I needed but is not of much interest to anyone else. I got sniped with literally 2 seconds to go. I wonder if it was a real snipe or a safeguard that a book does not sell for too low a price.

Yes, I updated as recently as 3 minutes before the end. It is taken off now as it is no longer live. It is weird that the price didn't update for me. Maybe they knew I was not a chance to bid!

I agree with everyone else here. Looked way better than a 3. Seems that your "lucky" run with CGC fizzled out with this one! :-)

A 5 for that is a good call - looks like they did not penalize the "10" in marker pen too much.

I didn't see this first time around. I would have said 7 without the staple pull, so on my scale at least that was worth taking off a whole point.

yes, it is too bad that the front cover got all the bad treatment while the BC emerged so nicely. I am a front cover guy (not interested in admiring ads on BCs) so 2.5 IMHO

There's also that issue of Not Brand Echh where he is shown being thawed out of the iceberg. ;-)

That's the worst tanning I have seen, but think it could be a 6... maybe 5.5 for the severity of tanning.
