I recently submitted a set of 25 cards for bulk grading because the Services and Fees page says "25 card minimum":

    https://www.csgcards.com/submit/services-fees/csg/

Now I'm concerned because people are talking about a 50-card minimum...? What should I do? I just followed what it says on the Services and Fees page...

Think they dropped it to 25 when they reduced price to $12 at beginning of Oct

How difficult is it to crack open? Any tips on that? lol

Use dikes to cut a corner off the top of the label area. Slide a thin flathead screwdriver into the recessed label area and work it across the label. Rest of the case should pop apart as you pry up gently. Reference a YouTube video if you're not certain at any point. Just make sure to keep the screwdriver well away from the card.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

This happens ANY time after a submission has been received and one or more cards that were received and verified were not yet in our system already. This means the card needs to be created in the system by our graders. Rest assured this submission has not gone backward in the process. It is still going through its normal process. Please note this status will not change until after the submission has been graded.

What's the next grading status you should expect in this scenario? Mine did the same and I was wondering. Will it show hitting QC status or just show up as shipped. Not sure if you mean the grading phase, or grading in it's entirety in that post. Thanks.

Same, I have never used PSA and don't intend to because CGC's slabs are far more attractive IMO. But they need to lower minimums or lower prices to make themselves more attractive, or this division of their business will suffer.

We could quickly realize a "race to the bottom" as far as grading goes heading into 2023, in a dramatic 1-2 year swing from where we've been recently. CGC is still the new kid on the block. I just want them to be okay and survive whatever's coming, and I hope they're making allowances to do that.

Definitely becoming a race to the bottom. Everyone has lowered prices. PSA opened bulk then dropped the price shortly there after. Think they may still be doing the $15 for TCG if that was them I saw the email from. The margins on sales are getting hard to overlook. Hard to justify sending to CGC at the moment for selling. I hate PSA with a passion. Feels like they have a dart board in the grading room as a determining factor based off of some of the returns. At least CGC still whooping them on turnaround time though.

Becoming harder to grade cards at the current prices, a 9 is pretty much break even. People probably aren't subbing that much anymore, coming off the heels of card market going wild and all the company's expanding. I foresee prices going lower still and turn around getting faster. Eventually prices have to go low enough to create volume so they can warrant these expansions and not lay off the people they hired last year.

  5. Last bulk sub went into SFG for like two days then back to received and one that was received after it seems to have jumped it as it's now in SFG status. Just curious if anyone has noticed that happening on their subs before.

Looks like it must trigger the Scheduled for grading status when you're billed, then reverts to received since other one did it as well.

  6. Opened a bunch of retail and every die cut was trash. Finally got someone on the CS line and they said submit a ticket for every card and wait a few years😂 I was like what. This is like 70 cards. If it was a couple of cards here and there it would be whatever and I'd probably just let it slide, but this is this worst batch I've ever opened. Other replacements have been there over a year. They must be cutting these cards with a rusty spoon at this point.

How do people get their names on the back of a label? I just seen a card that was graded and their company name was on the back of the grade label, it was the standard blue label, doesn’t that contradict the outcome of the grading process? I just read that after step 2 “the verification process” the submission paperwork and collectible are separated to ensure complete impartiality.

The graders don't know who the card belongs to, but at some point the paperwork and card are reunited. Otherwise how would anything ever be sent back to us?

Its an option on the submission form. Think it's pedigree or something like that.

Based upon my personal experience: 25%.

Kind of scares me on the crossover I sent in, seeing as that makes 2 people on the forums that've gotten whacked and not many active people on here. The raw cards in same order finished up mid week and should be delivered today. The crossovers been in GEI for I think 4 or 5 days(Might just take longer though, I have no idea to be fair). Don't want an email with bad news 😂 I really liked those cards.

Quick Update on this: I sent the Black Label 9.5 Scottie Pippen back to CSG to be reholdered to a 10. (It was originally a Green Label 9.5, which crosses over to a 10 with CSG's new grading scale.) CSG informed me they made a mistake and accidently put it in a Black Label 9.5 when it got reholdered the first time. So I sent the card back to CSG to get reholdered again.

Today I was informed via email by CSG that they damaged the card.

I wonder what their rate of damaging cards is.

  10. Starting to get a suspicious feeling about a crossover order. It's still well within the estimated turnaround so not going to complain, but seems very strange. Sent in 10 raw cards and 2 graded. Raw cards were graded and shipped already, crossover has been in G/E/I for 4-5 days now. Figured they would've made it out faster or at the same time due to being 2 cards vs 10.

Wasn't something I necessarily needed to crossover, but for PC items the Darius Garland tiger print and Kyle Pitts Genesis would look way better in CSG slab over SGC. Black insert looks great to me on the old yellow border pokemon and 60s baseball cards but doesn't with modern cards.

This was finally resolved with then shipping back my cards today via UPS Next Day Air. One card was downgraded to a Black three from a Green Gem Mint 9.5. The other card went from being a Green Mint 2*9.5/2*9 to a Black Mint 9.

I *ABSOLUTELY* have no idea how to get a black 9.5 from a green 9 with high subs. Maybe it's for 10/9.5/9/9 & better.

Have you seen a card graded a 3? That's a lot of damage. Must have dropped it, rolled over it with a chair and spilt a can of coke on it all in one go.

The point of the post was I was wanting people to see damage on the card, and let me know what I'm missing, because i dont see a 6.  Only way i see a 6 is by mistake or being graded by expensive computer (but not real "AI") compaing the card to a yellow refractor (non auto)....      So far the only real damage was major roller marks, which I'm not completely sure about.   Roller marks (to me) are lines where the rollers move across a sheet.  This card doesnt have those so, Im assuming he is referring to the textured appearance.  Something similar to if a paint roller is low on paint, it will pull up some wet paint leaving it with an orange pull/textured look.   I pictured that on the back left (where major marks were) on both a 10 & 6 and they are identical, so guessing that wasn't it.

I don't think anyone is going to realistically see the issue through a pic on here unless it's egregious.

But same problem. SGC/CSG dont bring anywhere near the PSA ROI. I think that is totally wrong. If the grading quality is all the same, the ROI should also be the same. But it is what it is and I can't do anything about it.  GMA and the other alphabet soup graders have other issues. They, I dont feel they are even close to the same quality grading as PSA/CSG/SGC/BGS. (why does nobody ever ever mention Beckett. Its like the dont exist).  HGA is an enigma. If you can solve the rubicks cube of submitting. They are still just a pubic hair above GMA. Again, just my opinion. Tell me Im wrong and why.

BGS blew it the biggest in terms of backlog. I can't think of anyone I know that's sent them anything recently and others still have subs there from like a year ago. PSA continues to carry a premium, but from my last few subs I feel like they have a dart board in the office and use it to determine grades. SGC I use for $2-400 cards because the ROI isn't terrible but the turnaround on my last sub there was 16 days that finished up yesterday.

CSG will be my go-to for $20-50 cards to get inventory for the shop. Affordable cards of hot players that will still be affordable after grading. Can't justify spending $50 of a 90 day turnaround time. So for the time being I'll be pushing CSG for base and low end parallels of LaMelo, AE, Mac Jones, Tlaw, etc.

I've sold a bit of CGC slabs for pokemon in the last year, so I'm hoping CSG eventually catches up to a similar point. Not the highest ROI, but at an affordable time to price. Most people aren't coming in and buying singles over $300 anyways so assuming they move I think CSG will have it's place. Most of what moves is under $100.

I don't think GMA is considered legit by anyone.

You won't be able to do that. Fairly certain that they would need to see the card under high resolution imaging to validate a 10 surface grade.

The only way I can see a min grade perfect 10 would be a 10*3/8+ centering green label. That would, in theory, ensure all the other subs are 10s, and 8+ centering on green scale has a possible upgrade to 10 if the 8 was solely due to reverse centering.

Through the previous grading scale I assumed a Pristine 10 was more in line with a BG 10, and perfect was a black label, with 9.5 being Gem Mint. 9.5, 10, and black labels command vastly different prices. If 9.5s are now 10 GM, I struggle to figure out exactly where the previous Pristine 10s fall in this unless the reholder on 9.5 GM is now Mint+. Feel like a Pristine 10 going to Gem is a big downgrade if previous 9.5s are now Gem Mint 10.

The most recent official response is that Pristine 10 (without subs) would be considered for Perfect 10. Personally, I think this is a *tad* unfair, since a 9.5 centering 10*3, which would be the very definition of black Perfect would get the 10 GM designation.

Yeah, haven't checked sub form to see if Perfect 10 minimum is an option. I'd rather keep it in a Pristine 10 case than get downgraded to Gem Mint on a resub lol.

You're very welcome! I reached out customer service yesterday.  They are looking into this, so I will follow up with them on Monday.

    Question in regards to reslabbing.

Got a Juan Soto back as Pristine 10 when the Perfect 10 was only if you purchased sub grades. If I reholder does it get reviewed for Perfect 10, or do I have to regrade for that one .5 sub determination that I previously would've had to pay for.

  17. Anyone had an issue where stuff was shifted? How badly did it tank the grade? Front side is a little off to the left but not that bad, back side is down, gold showing at top and the TM icon doesn't line up with the ink. 🤦‍♂️ Assuming it'll tank the centering grade, but first one I've gotten that was this bad.
