  1. It's inevitable there are going to be some Thanos comparisons for the audience unfamiliar with Darkseid, but he could be something entirely different if they get the character right. The whole tone of the film should hopefully work in his favour being as bad as he is. Plus I know he's not likely to be involved in any battling with the league but I want to see if they can top the Doomsday battle. Perhaps the true finale with Steppenwolf will put them to the test.
  2. Crazy to think Darkseid is actually showing up in this film. All the more reason to hope it does well so the character gets a chance in future appearances, he's just too big for DC to let him go to waste.
  3. It certainly makes sure the keys stay special. However I fear my opportunities to try and complete a run of early ASM issues are dwindling as fast as those prices are soaring. Owning more than a few keys would mean having to sell the rest of the collection to fund them!
  4. I didn't rate WW84 too much either. But it has made me look forward to her character in JL more as I loved the way WW was in BvS and this will be a continuation of that badass warrior style.
  5. Do you think it would have an impact on ASM 5 too? His first appearance outside of FF...
  6. Does anyone know if there has been any further update on the option for submitting cards from the UK? I know that for comics there is a list of authorised dealers on the CGC website that you can submit through, however I've been unable to find anything similar for cards. Googling it has brought up a dealer called 'Ed's Gaming Emporium' who look to be able to submit on our behalf. (Sorry if there was another thread for this topic but I couldn't it find one via the search function)
  7. It is confusing, he clearly got along with Snyder and perhaps he feels like he wouldn't want to let him down if the opportunity to make another JL actually came up. Yet due to the overall relationship with WB and the execs I just can't see how that would work out. Never say never these days but it would take a lot to happen.
  8. I must of bought my first slabs over 10 years ago now without knowing too much about them or their place in the market. My overall comic collecting also went on a hiatus not long after but since discovering these boards I think I've learned more about the marketplace than ever before and suddenly my comic interest has hit another peak. I recently did a submission so I finally got some new slabs and I must admit it was so nice to open them up and marvel at them. Really gives me the bug to go and get more but I'm trying to stay strong and stick to going after just some key stuff I've always wanted. The problem I find is that slab buying in the UK is mostly reliant on ebay and it's hard to find fair prices. It's definitely a sellers market right now.
  9. When I heard about those re-shoots I thought it might be related to some cliffhanger moments that he was going to use to create the 4 episode style mini series. I guess they are actually parts of the story he was unable to complete based on an original vision.
  10. Perhaps the hype is due to start soon with the release of some footage but I can't tell either what this is shaping up to be like. However (under normal circumstances) this is the type of film I would love to see at the cinema just to get the full experience of the sound and scale when the action hits.
  11. I agree, if it's a book you just really want to own because you love the issue and it looks cool in a slab then the 9.6 is absolutely fine. I'd only be interested in the 9.8 if I had the intention to sell or pass along at some point.
  12. I did my first submission recently and it was more out of curiosity to see what grades I got and help me understand how to better value my collection. They were comics that I knew had some re sale value that I'd picked up many years ago for low prices, so at least £100 if I got the grade I expected. That seems sensible to me if I haven't spent much on the original comic. I included a couple of 'big hitters' like NYX 3, a comic I don't have much of a connection to and really wanted to see if it could get a high grade so I could sell to fund a purchase I'm really after. I only aim to slab a small amount for keeps and then the rest I will only slab to sell.
  13. So it's a 4 hour movie according to recent posts on Snyder's Vero account, no longer thought of as a 4 part mini series. I actually don't mind that as it means getting the whole thing in one go, maybe there will be an obvious half way point for anyone starting it too late in the evening!
  14. I see the Carnage 1st print is up for pre-order now for end of March. Probably be tons of orders put in for it but I'm sure if/when a virgin cover pops up then the variant will sell out pretty quick and be the one to keep for a while. Marvel are going to milk this one whilst the ASM 55 hype is strong and with Carnage coming down the line in Venom 2 it's a recipe for over pricing....
  15. Yeah this is the BCW box/bin that I purchased for my slabs. I find it very sturdy and a nice looking storage box. There is about a quarter of an inch gap either side of a slab when it sits inside but I've not got mylites on them so not sure if that would be enough room for you.
  16. In regards to movie trailers, I often wonder if just a well made teaser would be enough to draw in the same level of audience. The first Man Of Steel teaser was excellent, barely showed you a thing but gave the impression of something grand. However without the full on action trailer following further down the line, would people have still flocked to see it?
  17. It seems that way, reviews of the issue itself suggest nothing special happens inside. Here on UK ebay it's still going strong and the virgin variants and pre order slabs for the 1st print are crazy. The 2nd print has plenty of availability, tons still on pre order at cover price (apart from the virgin variant of course). It's amazing how stuff like this takes off, it almost seemed obvious when the cover image was doing the rounds a couple of months ago that it would be very popular. Then within that final week or 2 before release the market dictates a premium!
  18. Hopefully the reveal of his look will be saved for the film itself. I've read rumours that there will be 1 more trailer to come before the release in March and as much as I'd love to see some new stuff I also think it would be nice to leave a few surprises.
  19. I got myself a few of the BCW plastic boxes, mostly as I've been trying to trim my collection right down by selling off a bunch of stuff so I only have a few boxes to keep. I like the look of them in the room more than having the carboard boxes that generally had to live out of the way. One of the boxes is the CGC size and they sit fairly snug, I'm not sure what size the mylites are for slabs but would probably be a tight fit. I've nothing against the traditional cardboard box, my collection has lived in short and long boxes for a long time with no problems, it's purely an aesthetic thing for me to reduce down to a few BCW boxes.
  20. Here in the UK I’ve had excellent experience with Comicanadirect and Scott’s Collectables. Im always on the lookout for other good UK sellers if anyone else has any recommendations
  21. He's done well to avoid watching the theatrical cut, maybe further down the line he'll give it a go just to see how it compares once the real deal is done and dusted. Although he may struggle to get over that very first scene of the monster Superman face.....
  22. That Venom cover is pretty cool. King In Black has started off well if you like Cates 'blockbuster' style writing. The artwork by Stegman has always been great and he does some amazing crazy splash pages when it comes to the big set pieces. I've also pre-ordered a selection of Future State issues to see what they're like. I'm a sucker for DC when they do their alternate futures/reboot stints so will be interested to see how this goes leading into Infinite Frontier.
  23. I do like both, in particular the extended cut of BvS. Perhaps the comment of 'not well received' should be more along the lines of 'studio interference' as it was unfortunate that the circumstances leading up to Justice League changed the direction and ideas that were being seeded. The release we got of JL couldn't of been more out of place in relation to MOS and BvS, the fact the directors cut is coming was a welcome surprise but proves they have the belief it can do well. So here's hoping it does. Something I'm looking forward to the most is the proper score and a continuation of what was done in the other 2. BvS is still one of the best scores to still listen to in my opinion and I even managed to find the un released tracks via youtube. At some point soon there is likely another trailer due that might contain some of the Junkie XL stuff.
  24. Nothing wrong with making an offer if it’s through a dealer, providing it’s reasonable then they may be willing to haggle. Average prices always go up at some point and become the new average if it’s a comic in demand.
  25. Cool photo, must of been one of many interesting ideas at the time for other characters. Who knows what could of been if MOS and BVS were received better.
