    Also add in to the mix “First cover appearance” which is sometimes and sometimes not noted by CGC depending on the book.

    Definitely does. What’s funny is, in hand it doesn’t look it, but that pic really shows it. Luckily I bought it at a price taking into account possible restoration. Thank you all for your grades and opinions! As usual a stellar group!

    Just picked this up. Cover solidly attached to staples although a little pull on the bottom one, bug chew on back that goes through about 8 pages but does not impact story or art. Gloss is pretty much gone but colors are decent. In addition to a grade, any advice on whether a C&P would help is appreciated.

    So cool. That took me back! My character (in the spoiler below to not take up too much room) has Remarkable strength and Monstrous Iron Will and Incredible Chemical Mimicry. And I'm an accountant. When I was a kid I would have drawn (badly) and colored what he would have looked like. They had those sheets where you could write in all the player characteristics and draw the character in the box in the corner. Thanks for sharing!

    A group of us kids transitioned from D&D to Marvel Superheroes RP and played for years. I remember waiting so long for the advanced set to come out. I still have this book and a few missions. The content is fairly incredible- there is almost every super power conceivable in here and still holds up. I created so many characters using this book…

    It’s Summertime - doesn’t that always coincide with a bit of a lull? People outside and spending money on vacations? My guess is that this Winter when all turns to ish again things will pick right back up.

    I recently paid a premium for a low-grade IH181 because it was signed and had a Wolverine sketch from Trimpe. To me, having his signature and sketch on a first appearance of the book where he created the character was why I went for it. Otherwise I prefer Universal books.

    Agreed - if you want full value. Maybe go to your local comic shop and see if they have a CGC account to submit? Then they can take care of all the steps it sounds like you don’t want to deal with. For those big books (X-men 1, IH 181, DD1) especially - where you can lose a decent percentage in sale price if you sell them raw. Of course I say this assuming no restoration is found. But, IMO you’d rather find that out first rather than selling/trading them raw and having the other person come back and say you sold/traded them a restored book.

    I picked this up over on the Bay (and immediately I regretted going down this rabbit-hole), but I was wondering what would happen if the artist only signed the top cover? Would it still come back as Qualified, or would they give it a Universal grade based on the inner-most and cleanest cover not being signed? I know that's not the case here, since the artist signed all three covers (which I thought was cool), but was just curious.

    Something similar happened to me a few weeks back. A board member (who right after deactivated his profile) PM'ed me after I posted a WTB and sent me the email of someone they said had one. I contacted the person and they had a good price and insisted on Zelle or Cash App and wouldn't use PayPal so I figured it was a scam and backed out. The pic they sent me was copied from MCS I think. It also seemed to me that the person was using some translation service to respond.
