I think this book can press to a 9.4. The spine roll, all the indentations, and back bottom left will press completely gone.  Spine roll is never an issue and = $ for pressers.

you have a stain on top left, which can be tricky.  An eraser or dental tool very carefully can move that away.  However, with the white background, it is very tricky to remove.  I would start with a pick, then very softly graze with a vinyl eraser.  If no progress, i would try a damp sponge with only dabbing motions.  I would then let that be, but it may come off.

Followed by more conventional stain removal techniques: ez-off oven cleaner, angle grinder, flamethrower, thermonuclear warheads, Galactus, the Infinity Gauntlet... and for those stubborn stains, my mom.

On a lower grade raw book, it should boost the value by $10-20.

On a graded book, it could be $50+, IMHO. 2c

Wow.  The two copies I have are rough graded 7.0-7.5 and 7.5-8.0, the lower grade is the MJ issue.
Ok, that made up my mind, I’m going to clean, press & grade both books and see what happens.

Thanks for the informative feedback!

I think the MJ insert will help.  Call it a 2.5, and auction it with a ton of pictures.

Say I have two copies of ASM 252, and one copy had the insert and one didn’t.  (Which I do.)  Does the Mark Jewelers insert edition go for a premium over the regular edition?

Get out a ruler and measure that top left tic.  If it’s over 1/8”, which I think it is, you’re at 8.5.  Also, with the tattoo being removed, we need to see the inside of the back cover.  Lots of times it’s ripped out leaving damage.

    nice white pages though.

The tic is right at 1/8”F4077FD4-CA38-419C-A100-B207323DD2B8.thumb.jpeg.22e2fac631d074c2ffafd95df763bf3e.jpeg

No damage that I can see...
