I'm not entirely sure what CGC has to do with it. Let's say CGC went belly up tomorrow. Then what? High grade Silver and Gold will still sell for thousands of dollars, tens of thousands even. Do you think people will stop micro-trimming because CGC folded? If anything they will do it more. This thread pertains to CGC HG Silver & Gold will NEVER reach the same hammer prices raw that they have with CGC. The same? No. But that doesn't mean they won't sell for a lot of money. You seem to be equating micro-trimming with something that happens because of CGC. Micro-trimming will still happen if CGC folds tomorrow. Just because an FF 1 in NM "only" sells for $25K instead of $125K does not mean there will be no financial incentive to monkey with it. I'm not sure that we disagree. I'm trying to understand why consumers would continue to submit their books to CGC if CGC can't consistently detect trimming. If CGC = raw in regard to micro-trimming, then wouldn't consumers rather pay 25K for a NM FF 1 than 125K? Because even if they can't detect it all the time, they can detect it a lot more consistently than 99.9% of the collecting community. 99.9%? C'mon now. Please don't just make mess up. I'm really not making up that number. How many people in this hobby do you think can reliably tell if a book was micro-trimmed? Honest question. Give me your opinion. First I'd have to know how many people are in this hobby..... Well that's kind of where I'm going with this. I think the number of people that can accurately detect it is a list we the board members can probably come up with. It will number less than 100 people, of that I'm sure. It would need to be either resto people like Matt, Trace Heft, Susan Ciccone etc. or long time dealers who deal in Silver and Gold predominantly that have seen literally tens of thousands of books and would know what to look for (Storms, Yee etc). There are how many comic collectors do you think? 400-500K? 1M? Do that math. Dupkak proclaimed he could, and I believe D&S stated he could as well

My start back into the FF foray

My take on it is that overall the quality of the show is better than most out there, with the exception of premium channel offerings, such as HBO (Sopranos, Trueblood, GoT, True Detective - Absolute BEST show I have watched since Breaking Bad), Showtime (Shameless, Masters of Sex, and Dexter - Before the sucky last season). The level of production is so much better due to the fact that HBO, etc, are not limited by censorship as are broadcast and even cable offerings, and they can get premium talent to star in them. Our standards for TWD are tainted by expectations that every season, every episode HAS to be as good as the last, even though every successful TV series has always had krap episodes, even seasons, from M*A*S*H. Cosby Show, The Wire, Entourage, Seinfeld, Friends, and any other long running one you can think of. The bar for TWD has been set so high over the first couple of years, that we have been spoiled and demand the same quality each and every season/episode, and when it doesn't happen, it's a letdown. I know people who watch the show have never read the comics but love the show and the overall direction it's going. I like it. I grew up loving The Hobbit and LOTR and after the Rankin/Bass fiascos of the 70's, I thought there would NEVER be a good adaptation until Peter Jackson knocked LOTR out of the park. Even the Hobbit, his follow up is well done, but we unfairly compare it to LOTR. The Walking Dead will lose popularity over time, but as long as there is gratuitous zombie killing gore, and are characters people love (and can't stand as well), they will tune in to see what happens. Bubble isn't bursting any time soon. Just my thoughts.

Two, very easy, yes or no questions: Were the offending images created by you? Did you PM the offending images to anyone? This. The question WAS answered, though evasively. What Rupp is saying is that he sent the PMs with the memes to select people, but didn't send the PMs with the memes to the people the memes were actually about. Regardless whether or not they were posted publicly by Rupp, the Boards were used as a vehicle to distribute hate propaganda. And let's not mince words, it IS hate propaganda. Makes me nauseous. Grown effing man stooping to this level, in this day and age. I have been away for a long time, and don't know the history between all of the parties, but this exceeds the limits of a simple flame war. I have seen (and been involved in) some bad ones but never seen anything like this. I DON'T CARE WHO IS AT FAULT. I don't care who started what blah blah blah those images were uncalled for...It makes me sad and sick to my stomach to think people you THINK you know on the Boards come out with this BS. Then instead of just being manADULT enough to admit fault, just continues with the coy responses and playing the victim card. Regardless of who dug up what and found ON A PUBLIC PAGE these memes, the fact remains they were created by Rupp. Thought, effort, and intent was put into them...Stop deflecting. Doesn't matter how they were found, THEY WERE FOUND. IMO someone who received one of them, who you thought you could trust probably dropped dime to one of the people it was about. Ever thought about that? This whole situation

Thanks for gathering the info Nick. I want to preface the upcoming tirade by saying his isn't directed at you in any way. He's mistaken on a couple of points. One as Schmidt said, he wasn't holding anyone to proper grades. If he was, when he sold the books he'd sell them at lower grades than when bought, not higher. Two, the bold section above, it's not because of this situation that he's banned. This forum is for adults, 18 and over, and children do not have the legal capacity to enter in to contracts and transactions. The only way he was able to gain access to this forum was by lying, when he signed up, and stating he was 18. This "horrible situation" would have never happened had he been honest enough in those first minutes of signing up and realizing this is not a place for a 12 year old. The father may be on the up and up in this, but the child created some of the most intricately detailed lies to conceal himself and (in some cases) for no reason at all. The first moment of sign up was a lie. Who he held himself out to be was a lie. His hay bailing business? A lie. His children? A lie. 40 years old? Lie Frankly, the "solid transactions" we're supposed to dwell upon were all based on a lie. From their most basic origins people believed they were dealing with someone else entirely. How can a transaction be "solid" when it's built on a foundation of pure balderdash? His argument for leniency and what he wants people to remember when thinking of their interactions sounds a lot like...."Cool Books"....as if all that deception, and the deceptions heaped upon deceptions don't matter because "I got my cool books". Much of what I'm hearing sounds like "not my kid", which is unfortunate given the length and breadth of the prevarications perpetrated across the entirety of these boards. I think you make some solid points here. No offense on you, Nick, but I call BS on the father. Anyone can sound sincere on the phone. His father wasn't saying this on his Facebook posts, when he was commenting on how great his son was by having everyone on the site thinking he was an adult. Also he stated he monitored the email activity, so he knew what BS his son was flinging.
