  1. Avengers #161, CGC 9.0, White Pages, Western Penn, $28 **Take 20% off listed price**
  2. I have a few CGC books for sale. Shipping will be $12 in the CONUS on these. I accept PayPal or cash. Returns accepted within 7 days of receipt if you aren't satisfied, but you'll need to pay for return shipping. Fantastic Four #173, CGC 9.0, White Pages, $18 SOLD
  3. I paid $4.25 for my copy of IH 181 in 1975 when I was 10 years old. My LCS had several copies that they were charging a premium for about a month or two after it came out. Up until that point, the most I'd ever paid for a comic was a copy of Fantastic Four 73 for $4.50 from that same LCS. I really felt like I was getting ripped off to pay $4.25 for a comic that was only a month or so old. I guess I did since I still have the comic, and I didn't recoup my $4 over the cover price. Here is a scan of the copy I bought.
  4. Has to be the Kangaroo. Glad to see the Mind Worm wasn't on the list. ASM 138 was actually the first spidey comic I purchased myself as a kid, so I still kind of like MW for sentimental reasons.
  5. Patrick grades his books accurately and ships them quickly in bullet-proof packaging. I hope to make more purchases from him in the future.
  6. Hey Barton, beautiful copy of #38. I've always loved this cover. Does this reprint FF #51?
  7. The first comic I purchased as a kid was FF 149 (from my local 7-11). So, I grew up in the bronze age of FF comics. I'm trying to put together a CGC run of FF 140-200.
  8. I know it's a MHII, but I've been trying to get a CGC'd FF 151 for quite some time now.
  9. Very nice book. You must have picked this up from Barton. I'd recognize his scans anywhere.
  10. Thanks guys. That's pretty much been my approach (with one exception). I try to find the best presenting, well-centered copy I can get in 8.5 or above. When I first started collecting CGC FFs, I was lucky enough to pick up the FF 149 CGC 8.5 and FF 148 CGC 8.5 as my first purchases for a really good price. They both present very well, and I thought "if this is what 8.5s look like, I don't need any higher grade." These however have been the exception--other 8.5s haven't looked quite as good, though. To be quite honest, several of the 9.4s I have don't look as good as these two 8.5s. I'm not sure what brought the FF 148 down, but I called for the graders' notes (when they were still free) on the FF 149 (light spine stress, fading at spine)--I think the fading at the spine is what really caused the lower grade. The fading doesn't look that excessive to me, and I'm not sure it's not just a printing defect. So, the FF 149 has been my only exception to just sticking with a nice presenting, well-centered copy and not worrying too much about the grade. FF 149 was the first comic I purchased off the rack at my local 7-11 as a kid, so it holds a special place in my memories. I came across this nice CGC 9.6 copy of it (but I've held onto the CGC 8.5 copy as well). Sadly, I probably could have gotten two other books I need for my run for what I paid for the FF 149 CGC 9.6. Here's what the 8.5 and 9.6 look like.
  11. Not the highest grade, but goes nicely in my "not the highest grade FF collection." I'm trying to get a nice run of #140 - #200 (which is the time frame I collected as a kid). I need to get a #144 and a #146 to complete #140 - #150. I've got a few 8.5 clunkers in there, but the 8.5 #148 is a really nice looking book.
  12. I have a FF #188 with the staples situated like that. It's always bothered me a little because it's a white cover--so, the staple are very visible. They're pretty hidden on your Conan #1 because of the dark cover. It is a beautiful book. Congrats.
  13. Beautiful book! What a great artistic combo on that cover -- Buscema, Romita, and Sinnott.
  14. A couple of recent pick-ups. Unfortunately, they've got the indentations on the back of the inner well ( link ). I'm about ready to quit collecting CGC books because of the recent defects in the encapsulation method (since about 2012).
  15. Wow! You almost never see centering that good on an ASM #122.
  16. Inching closer to my FF #140-200 run (FF #149 was my very first purchase as a kid).
