  1. I'm going to go 8.0 to 8.5 because of the small tear in the cover to the right of Medusa's head (3rd photo from top). I'm not sure how CGC would count off due to this. Otherwise, I'd say 9.2. Very nice book.
  2. @CMatthews, thank you for the break-down. Return shipping for each of these two submissions was supposed to be FedEx Ground (at $18 per)--which is what was selected on the submission form--but, for some reason, 4088178 came back shipped via USPS Priority with signature verification ($35). I was credited with the $17 difference when I spoke with customer service since it was returned using a shipping method I did not select on the submission form. 4088179 is now at the "Grading/Quality Control' step. Is there anyway to make sure it is returned using the proper shipping/cost before it goes out? I see in your breakdown you have the shipping fees for this one as $35 as well--which is not correct.
  3. 52 weeks/year x 5 work days/week = 260 work days/year.
  4. More like about 250 days. 52 weeks x 2 weekend days = 250 days. Most companies have about 9 to 11 holidays. So more like ~250 business days.
  5. I returned a slab last week due to a mechanical error. The order number is CGC4226371705, and it was received at CGC on the morning of 7/28. Will this item show up on my submission tracking page when it is logged into the system? If not, how can I get a status of this order? Thanks.
  6. I'm pretty sure this is an authentic Jack Kibby signature.
  7. @WernerVonDoom, sorry to break up your consecutive run posting.
  8. I always wanted a Suscha News. Finally got one. Sorry about the horizontal lines running through the scan. My scanner just started acting up.
  9. I would say 6.0. If that spot near SM's thigh can't be removed, it might drop to 5.0 to 5.5. CGC seems to really hit stains hard on post-silver books. It's a really nice looking book and one of my grails.
  10. If this had a chance at 9.8, I'd probably send it to be graded. But there is a faint "finger bend" to the left of Namor's head that can barely be seen when angling the book to the light just right. I don't think I'd chance a press on this book to get rid of it. Thanks for looking. I'm not sure what's going on with the back cover scan.
  11. I wouldn't go any higher than 5.0 - 5.5 as is. I think it could get as high as 7.0 with a clean and press.
  12. I think this might squeak in at 9.0. Nice looking book!
  13. Unless the OP arrives at CGC and convinces the mail carrier to give him the books he submitted, they will be in CGC's possession. So, technically, if they are already mailed, they are in CGC's possession.
  14. @MattM CS Thank you for sending the statement. Are these statements sent on a regular basis without one having to request it? If not, they should be. Looking at the statement you sent, I should have a credit balance of $60. Instead, I was billed $34 to my credit card that shouldn't have been billed, AND the $34 was also subtracted from my CGC credit balance--leaving only $26 instead of $60. In short, CGC basically overbilled me $68. Combined with the mechanical error which required me to send the comic back for reholdering, this was definitely not the best first impression for CGC to make.
  15. @MattM CS, thanks for the response. How can I get a detailed statement showing my credits and debits? The $26 credit you say is left in my account is way below what it should be.
  16. Is there a way for me to check to see what the credit balance is on my account? If I access my account by clicking "My CGC" --> "My Account" it just shows my e-mail address, password (or rather a bunch of * to represent it), customer number, and shipping address. I would like to see how much has been used of my membership credit and other credits I've received. Thank you.
  17. I agree. Either 7.5 or 8.0. That will probably be the nicest looking 8.0 ever once it's slabbed.
  18. The book finally arrived today. I thought it would get 9.4 with a chance at 9.6, so the 9.8 is really surprising--as it will be to those who offered grades since no one went higher than 9.4. Unfortunately, it was only in my possession for about 2 hours because I noticed a 3/4" x 1/4" piece of plastic on the back between the inner well and slab. It's already on its way back to CGC to be reholdered. I own about 80 graded comics (98% are CGC), and this is the first comic I've ever sent to be graded--all others were purchased over the years already slabbed. So it's really disappointing to have to send this first one back to be reholdered. Also, when I submitted the book, I chose FedEx ground ($18) for return shipping. Instead, CGC sent it USPS Priority with signature verification and charged me $35 for that--and it took from 7/21 until 7/27 go go from Sarasota, FL to East Tennessee. They are supposed to refund the difference ($17).
  19. I don't think CGC hits Marvel chipping as badly as having a missing piece through some other means. I've seen plenty of CGC 5.0 slabs with worse Marvel chipping than this. For that reason, I'm going 5.0 - 5.5. Beautiful book!
  20. 8.0 - 8.5 Those spine ticks look to be color-breaking (even though the color they break is white), so I don't think a press will make them go away. Also, the edge of the back cover appears to overhang the interior pages--allowing it to bend. I have an X-men 111 that has on spine tick, but the cover overhangs pages, and it got an 8.0.
