    tl;dr, next thread!

Seriously, great read, and while every story is unique, this one isn't like any I have read around here!

    Condensed version:

Bill sold him a showcase 4. He's happy about it.

  2. If no physical pencils exist, then I'm totally fine with the inks. It's the only original art that exists for a given page.

If pencils and inks exists, pencils all the way because that's the original. The inks usually look better to me, but owning the superior and first version of the work is ultimately more important to me than what I like to look at more. I only own a couple of inks where there's a pencil version floating around somewhere, and they actually bug me a good bit. A good example would be Secret Invasion pages. I'd be buying the heck out of them if they were pencils/inks together, but they are separate, so I only have a couple of them.

I'm kind of shocked that Budd Root is the #4 search in the last 30 days. Perhaps I sold my load a bit too early!  lol!

I'm not surprised...Budd's work continues to be amazing.  I'm not just saying that because he's a friend and I have a bunch of his stuff. I don't think... :insane: I do know that he's one of very few guys I get commissions from, and it's a thrill every single time.

Any Thoughts on new avengers 54 sdcc variant. I believe it is an affordable alternative to strange tale 169.

Do you know of any tires that are going to increase in value? I've literally never made a penny on any of my tire investments.

Is there any reason I shouldn't buy multiple copies of Batman 89 and Hell Arisen 3 for $20 each? My LCS has 6-8 more 89's and 8-10 Hell Arisen 3's. He's offered them to me for $20 each and I picked up 2 Bats and 3 HA3 from him. I hate selling online but have 10 shows in the next 12 weeks so I have ample opportunity to turn them. Is this a no-brainer and I'm just over thinking it?

Why would you do that when you could just put the money into He-man/She-Ra promos and baseball cards? Priorities, bruh.

A bit tangential because it is a book versus a comic, but supposedly Almost Got 'Im (golden book) surpassed BA 12.and WD 1 in FMV for a 9.8. Two websites reported that a CGC 9.8 copy of Almost Got 'Im was sold for $2,288 late last year. I still haven't seen where this book was sold so I can't verify first hand.

Huh. There was a sale recorded on GPA for that, so it would have been an Ebay sale or one of the other sites that report to gpa..I had 4-5 of these still sealed a few years back and was told that CGC wouldn't grade them. My copies were flawless, and no doubt would have graded 9.6-9.8. I sold them for decent $$, but nowhere near that sale. Has CGC changed their stance on this book, or is that one that slipped through?

  7. There is almost zero chance that this book would receive a 9.9/10.

I've subbed nearly 20,000 books, and have gotten exactly 2 9.9's and both were lenticular covers done onsite.

With few exceptions there is no reason to sub books with the expectation you will get above 9.8. Unfortunately it doesn't matter if a book looks flawless as even then the chance of it getting a 9.8 far outweighs the luck involved in it getting higher.

  8. I've had a sub for years now, and just tried to navigate the new site for the first time. It's ugly, and it's cumbersome to get data quickly. I know I'm just repeating what others have said, but it's true. Lots of extra clicks. Pointless.

I now recall that I did buy something a long time ago, and he cut the price a little when I asked.

While a lot of posters are getting a bit gushy here, and I agree he is fair and pleasant to deal with, don’t forget he is still a dealer who is there to make money. He is not your Aunt May.

    He's not my aunt?
