  1. I haaate getting back silver in 5.5. It's just such a SH grade. The numbers help a little because I loathe the grade Fine- even more. I consign a lot to MCS and they looooove throwing the minus on the grades. It used to drive me up the wall, but nowadays I'm more likely to auction that book quicker so I don't have to see it with that minus grade in my inventory.  When I used to sell more of my stuff on Ebay/the boards I would never ever call a book fine minus or VF minus.  If it didn't make the mark I'd go down to vg/F or F/Vf.

    Hello fellow collectors,

Not sure if I am posting in the right area or not but hear goes nothing. My local comic book store has released a Walking Dead #1 issue. The book looks exactly as it did when it was first released the only exception is it has the logo of the local comic book shop in the window.   I know its never going to get what the original first print got, but does anyone think it would be worth grading it?  Pic of comic attached

Moore did the cover art for WD #1. Adlard did this cover.

I'm SO excited. My wife and I went to Walton and Forsyth in downtown Atlanta in May 2017, and saw the place where the Season 1 pilot / episode 01 finale was filmed (Rick/tank/walkers).

Today, I have just booked for May 2020 for us to go back to Atlanta and Senoia (we have a hotel booked in 'Woodbury') to see some of the other TWD locations. I can barely contain my excitement :-)

I was a Zombie in that scene (the scene with the horse falling, tank etc). It was suuuuper hot those days we filmed, but it was a fun experience.

It's "anecdotal", but I've often seen both the first and second printings of #15 with multiple copies in the dollar boxes at local conventions (even 25 years later).  If 500,000 is correct for first printing, I would be extremely surprised if the second printing is under 100,000.

Why do you keep talking about #15?

    :baiting:

  5. Has anyone here ever heard of this term in relation to a comics grade?

"This Amazing Spider-man #15 is a VG with oxidation"

    TF does that even mean???

    ox·i·da·tion

      (ŏk′sĭ-dā′shən)

    n.
    1. The combination of a substance with oxygen.
    2. A reaction in which the atoms of an element lose electrons and the valence of the element is correspondingly increased.

Did this comic get exposed to.....OXYGEN???? SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!
Maybe the scientist/chemist who graded the book could tell that the book had increased valence?
Are there any chemistry wizards that can get to the bottom of this?

In all honesty, I think a Mystery Box is actually a good idea for a legitimate seller (like Metro) assuming they are completely transparent re: the "big" prize and the number of Mystery Boxes being sold. If they were to sell 1,000 $50 boxes with one box actually containing a redeemable voucher for, let's say, an Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 7.0 (value approx. $25k - you would send the voucher to Metro to claim the prize) I think many collectors would be far more interested.

Kind of like an Instagram comic raffle or playing pull-tabs.

For all we know the "BIG" prize is a copy of this:

    Image result for big comic

If I paid $50 for a mystery box, I would love to find that inside. That's a pricey book!

Just got droped off by the USPS a little while ago.  Happy on some of the grades, saddened by a couple, and surprised by one.

Was happy to get one of the Killing Jokes back in 9.8.  Needed that one for an upgrade to the registry set.

The ASM212 they hit hard on foxing

Detective Comics 880, a bit disappointed, but, I missed a corner bend that breaks color.  Really small one.

The Vengeance of Bane had a readers crease along the spine.  Was a late addition to the submission, so, while disappointed, not that upset

The Hulk I thought would come back at least a 9.4, possibly 9.6

DC Comics presents, bought it off the boards as a 9.6, so, a bit disappointed, especially after it being pressed by CCS

The Devil Dinosaur was a surprise.  Another last minute addition to the submission.  Was thinking 9.6 at best after press.

Invaders is what I thought, but, hoping for a bump to 9.6

Batman Mad Love I thought was going to lock in at 9.8.  Whoops, guess not.

The X-men 101 was hoping for a bump, as I had it at 8.5 before the press.

The other X-men 101 is a really nice looking 4.5, was hoping for around a 6/0/6.5 neighborhood

You may have missed ink rub/loss on that Mad Love. I used to drive myself crazy subbing that one and getting 9.2-9.4 on copies that looked like potential 9.8's until I started noticing that most of them had some ink issues. It's pretty common with that book.
