  1. hey, dont ;ook now, but Fighting Yank is back, starring in The Twelve. A dozen forgotten Timely heroes were frozen by the Nazis and just woke up Pretty interesting so far.
  2. I agree. the copy is placed neatly but another cloud or bkgnd element and NO words would have been awesomer.
  3. d'oh!! Drucker was on the tip of my cerebellum I swear! I always think of Grandenetti from his looser and heavily brushed work of ten years later on, (Spectre and mystery stuff). The pen work on this cover reminded me of Morts brilliant style.
  4. who drew the 115 cover? is that Mad's Mort? (Im blanking on the last name.. damn senility!
  5. for late silver and all bronze I think you have to say 9.4 They are scarce now because so few are slabbed. But in time I believe many more will appear. Not nearly as many as mainstream superhero titles, but more than we see now in the census. Theres no reason IMO to believe that the % of collectors who were condition freaks in the 60s didnt take just as good care of their war books too. Just fewer total collectors.
  6. Kapelka as in "take-a-number-Feeding-Frenzy" Kapelka??
  7. those are incredibly strong prices asked... and paid! I was thinking of starting a thread to question the ask prices... and then they sold just as quickly.
  8. nice to be humble Mick, but you is the king anyway!
  9. hes castigatin' up a storm south of the border, huh?
  10. when the Punisher is done right (pretty much most of the time recently) he's a great character. Like Clint Eastwood movies only he doesnt get beaten and locked up before winning as often. He's also like Batman versus run of the mill criminals and crooks: three steps ahead of all the mooks and scares em to death.
  11. curses! hoisted on my own petard! ouch.
  12. sweet sweet set! like revisiting my childhood, from 120 on... such covers, such memories!
  13. true, but that lowly 70 was probably considered (and sold) as a NM book way back when. It looks like a typical old school "keeper" that today drops down all the way to a FVF.
  14. well. Bangzoom assured me he always puts a pillow under his feet while reclining...
  15. no they arent. check out the mirror reflection in the rear center. And anyway, nobody said the original pic couldnt be enhanced for clarity, contrast and sharpness. AGAIN WHY REPLACE THE COMICS? Who benefits?? Just enjoy the images of a time gone by.
  16. yeah. just blur them up a little bit more. A lot more. But why? dont you think the newsstand pics are real? There's photoshop and then there's common sense. Mine sez the pic is real. What would be the point of doing that and then seeding it online somewhere? And if I did it Id pick keys just to make it more sensational. anyway, I was just pointing out the limits of photoshop magic vs peoples motivations for doing something like this.
  17. no problem, but I think your over estimating what's possible. Yes photoshopp artists can do amazing things... but spending 100 hours to completely redraw that magazine printed image to look as crisp as the original still would not be worth anyones time. But maybe we are misunderstanding each other. The comics in the magazine photo are the real comics that were on the stand that day. But the ones in the 8x10 still were definitely photoshopped in to replace the originals. Thats an easy job! just reduce and rotate and skew them til they match and mask them under the metal wires and add a few shadows here and there... voila!
  18. not really. The better pic was photoshoppable because it was a much higher quality, probably the from a publicity 8x10 still. But the top pic was the same photo printed in a magazine and greatly reduced in resolution. Theres no way the top image was retouched to look like the bottom one! You cant add clarity back to that extent.
  19. whats great too about these pics is how silly they make all the movies where the crime is solved by enlarging a tiny spot in an old photo! Especially a photo of someone holding a newspaper... You zoom in on these and you just get mush!
  20. I think the orange one was the error/mistake first print. This one looks like "normal coloring.. doesnt it?
  21. I d have to take the Adventure (the comic, not the one hour adventure with her!) because thats why! I get to keep the book forever but have to return the girl in an hour! In reality, Id fly to NY and pay a lot less than 4300 by saving the travel expenses to bring her to me!!
