  1. If you're buying to flip it...yes. If you're buying to keep...who cares. agreed. but if one is buying to keep, it feels like a bad time to be chasing the hottest book around, right? Then again, its moving so fast its also irresistible to lock in a copy now while its still rising. I just hope its not a summer fling, After all, its been a major key but sleeping soundly for a long long time. Actually reminds me of the Showcase 4 hysteria back in the 80/90s, when it was suddenly THE DC book to have. Of course, the movie is deal changer here.
  2. hey, will Showcase 22 cool off as fast as its reached molten hot status? Doesn't this sudden hysteria concern anyone here? Or does everyone already have a copy that rapidly appreciating in value?
  3. anyone here picking up the Salida Star Spangleds in Heritage ?? Sweet copies, though I was surprised some were not even highest graded. Can there really be enough to go around after all?
  4. Tim & aman, I agree on the 9.0. It is the highest graded. Unless it sold recently, I believe it went for $20k and some change awhile back. thanx. 20K isnt so bad, especially if it stays top copy and no 9.4 or even 9.2 appears. Its a super tough HG book, but if I were a betting man, I say there IS a copy out there waiting in a mylar. We've seen nearly every other comic show up, why not Showcase 22?
  5. anyone remember what the 9.0s sold for? I barely remember what I had for lunch!

  7. boy seeing all this SHOWCASE 22 enthusiasm is making me wish I went after the 9.2 last year! THIS and the movie hype, that is.
  8. you really think so? My take has always been that Alan Moore came to his own writing style and approach on his own, 3000 miles removed from our American comics, reading them from afar, absorbing their motifs and genres and creating his personal take on the absurdities and strengths and weeknesses of the medium on his own. Im not even sure he was reading Millers DD as his stories early on all played off the Silver Age DC motifs. And if he was up to date on 80s comics, his voice was well established long before than. This is my opinion. If Moore has at some point given kudos to Miller over the years, ooops.
  9. Im glad to hear him talk about the weird coloring! Many of the war covers are great, but there are too many that are hard to look at due to the coloring.
  10. Tec 29. lotsa Bat 1s out there. but a solid midgrade blue 29 is a better get.
  11. Archie for me. Twice. So we can catch up a bit! All star 3 has more enthusiasm in this thread than I ever see at shows!
  12. Is Roger Reed a former illustrator himself? Who published a book on th egreat Illustrators fo the 20th century??
  13. ...maybe longterm, Robin wins out due to sheer worldwide recognizability over Torch and Subby.
  14. MM9 for me in a landslide. Tec 38 and the Allentown copy is sliding backwards, while MM9 has reached prime time right about now!
  15. boy, I still love these covers. I wish the logo panel wasnt there though, and the art went all the way off the top.
  16. that guy's head could be Ditko, no? could he have pencilled the cover? or is the artists known?
  17. Im looking for the new thread about the 9.6 WM ASM 1 selling for a record $130K.... but where is it? Is there no discussion because there wasnt a flurry of last minute bidding and it closed where it sat at 130 all last week?
  18. wait, looking again, the bridge is empty, so there must be a civilian lockdown or curfew... due to the attacking missles?? I cant remember the story.
  19. I never noticed that battleship cruising into a head on with the docked ships... actually, this is quiet city scene, so why the militaristic Naval display of power??
  20. I dunno. with Bedrock buying war books, There Goes Da Neighborhood!
  21. low res scan so its hard to evaluate the detail.. looks sweet though.
  22. I was blown away by the 20K it took to win the FF6... didnt see that coming!
