  1. I think he paid an additional 25k for the rest of the run.
  2. If I remember correctly (and I can check the catalogs later) the 1 sold in a single lot and then many of the other Daredevils were sold in a group lot. I've never seen any of the early ones come up for sale.
  3. That's as close to the #1 as I've seen in many years.
  4. Some thoughts, even thought I think the whole line of questioning is He didn't make the many (many!) savvy purchases he's made over the years by being a big dummy. Transporting books like the Church Actions to get graded carries significant risk. Realistically even taking it out to photograph it would carry significant risk. And why? To show off? If he is concerned that other people know he has the best copies of all the best books- mission accomplished Also, keep in mind he would have been at the top of the usual suspects list when all of these other copies of Action #1 originally surfaced. He would have had the opportunity to upgrade if there were a better copy presented (see- the Allentown Detective #27)

  9. There are a ton of Batman #1. It's still surprisingly low average. It's abundant in high grade though. Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. 10. The average (!!!) grade for Superman #1 is 2.48. Detective #27? 4.86 Action #1? 4.10 Marvel Comics #1? 4.48 Cap #1? 5.02 Batman #1? 3.48 (from a very high number)
  11. There are about as many total copies of Detective #27 as there are unrestored copies of Superman #1. Superman #1 is, without a doubt the toughest major GA key in mid to high grade. It disappears over 6.0.
  12. A Superman #1 in 6.5 (there isn't one) would be alone as 3rd highest graded. And there aren't a bunch of raw high grade copies that I know about. There's the one that made the Church copy irrelevant and then... I've never heard about another high grade copy. They may be out there, but no one has ever talked to me about one.
  13. There's also the top end being IMPOSSIBLE pushing prices up I wrote this today about the Heritage Superman #1

  16. Working on it right now... I'm initially struck by how many of the Golden Age books are in two collections.
