This has been an interesting year. I could choose another three sets of three, to be honest. Anyway... Superman 14! I got it cheap, got it restored, now it looks so fancy. People made fun of me for having a Patsy Walker Church copy (it's TIMELY fer cryin' out loud) so I bought this, since Fiction House is cool. I hadn't owned this book for many years. I love this copy. Honorable mention (not comics) A true grail book for me- 1st Hardcover Neuromancer, signed by Gibson (and presented in a custom case!)

I've been selling a lot this year and I'm ending the year on a high note. This week, I've got a great set of CGC graded books on eBay. I 1000% agree with you. In addition to your comment on the paper and these being trash books (getting trashed!) My feeling is that this had a much smaller print run than comparable comics of the time Even people that have these books (Mile high, Gary Dolgoff Comics, etc.) don't bring them to shows (because why would you?) so you'd have to rely on dumb luck finding them in person. Seeing these books in person saves a lot of churn, since you can accurately pre-screen without the hassle of ordering books and dealing with returns eBay is as eBay always is with books from this era. If you find a collector, selling their collection, or a dealer selling an OO collection you can do okay- otherwise... weep. No one else is going to grade them If I weren't done doing runs like this, I would totally do this run because it would be a challenge and it's an awesome run.

Since I was quoted earlier, I'll add... When I say "brutal" I'm not talking about waiting for copies already graded to appear for sale. Obviously, if that's your plan it's going to impossible. I'm talking about sourcing and grading them- from the perspective of someone who has actually sourced and graded large CGC graded runs of copper and modern books. I feel like these particular books would be difficult above and beyond what the census says. It's a small run, it wouldn't take a decade, but it would take longer than a short run should. Your best hope would be to get lucky and get a nice, uniformly high grade run.

This happens to me all the time. It's the best. Being treated like a crook for honestly valuing books that I wouldn't take, for free.

It took me a while to get the #4. I ended up getting two graded at 9.8 in a few months, but I ran through a lot of duds to get there. I sold the second one for $463. There was a lot of pent up demand, at the time. That sub, above, generated a 9.6 #4. Great lot of books.

I definitely don't hate Chuck. Being banned from buying from him is no loss and it's funny because he (or one of his minions) took the time out of their day to figure out that I needed to be banned, based on postings here or on my site about his prices. He's a funny character.

It could be, theoretically, but it's more likely that it's just someone who was annoyed with Chuck who had some extra $$ (10s of dollars a day? something like that) to spend and knew where to buy some bandwidth for a DDOS.
