  5. And on the way back through Rockford, I stopped at a garage sale and started going through his dollar boxes. And lookie what I found:
  6. OK. Here's some pics of some of the stuff I picked up today at a flea market in Wisconsin: Journey Into Mystery #82 (last issue before Thor starts) The cover's loose but I picked it up for about $7.00. The following books were picked up at $1.00 each: Beautiful copy except for an impact ding at the lower right corner which can be removed with pressing. Also picked up copies of Rai #0 and #2. Part of a 12 issue run (1 thru 12) that I picked up for a buck each. Nick (Bosco) just posted scans of his two 9.8's of #5. Should I have bought the rest of the run (13 on up)? And for me, the coup de grace of the day: Sports Illustrated Vol. 40 #15 from 1974 celebrating Henry "Hank" Aaron's 715th home run (when he broke Babe Ruth's old record) Picked it up for $5.00.
  7. I have a few good items I picked up today. When I get a chance, I'll take some pics and post 'em later tonight. (thumbs u
  8. A drastically underrated series, Sarah. And some incredible talent contributed to the stories and artwork, so super all-around. My favorite issues are Scout 9 (1st Modern intro of Airboy), Airboy 1, Airboy 3 (return of the Heap), and 5 (I'm not sure why, but something grabs me). It's gotta be the gun....HAS to be the gun.
  9. And belated kudos to kdoginohio for a nice Iron Fist #14 at a great price and to namisgr for a sweet Giant-Size Spidey #2 slab. Thanks guys!
  10. Big kudos to CDaBruce for a total of 8 Spidey slabs (6 received and 2 coming). Great packing job and nice prices. Thanks Cristian!
  11. I'm heading to a big flea market in Wisconsin on Sunday and on the way back I might catch the tail end of a flea market at the local fairgrounds. I'll let you guys & gals know if I come up with anything of interest Sunday night. (thumbs u

  18. Great find! I've been pretty lucky finding comics at local garage sales, flea markets and antique malls. I perform a search a couple of times a week on my local paper's website for the word "comic" and find many garage sales that way. Over the last 8 years I've managed to come up with some pretty good stuff: 1) Iron Fist #14 (1st Sabretooth) for about $10.00. I submitted it to CGC a few years back and it came back an 8.0. 2) A Marvel Spotlight #5 (1st Ghost Rider) from that same garage sale for another $10. It just came back a CGC 6.5 with WHITE pages. 3) A nice run of NM Conan the Barbarian issues from 30 thru 50 that I paid $1.00 each for. 4) A MAD #24 (1st Mad Magazine) at an antique mall in central Illinois that I bought for 55 cents. It came back a CGC 3.0. 5) A pink Harbinger #0 variant issue that came back a CGC 9.4. I picked it up at a local antique mall for $5.00. Treasures are still out there to be had. Just keep your eyes and ears open and think "comics" all the time and you'll find something good out there.....someday. (thumbs u
  19. What? No pics? I posted a few of the books for sale in my Mixed Age Sales Thread. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3976154#Post3976154 I honestly haven't had time to scan as many as I would have liked to have scanned by now. I hear ya. Scanning books seems to take FOREVER.....especially when there are thousands to scan.
  20. Thanks for the heads-up, count me in on the mercy bidding (thumbs u I will definitely be keeping my eye on some of those books as well.
