  1. I LOVE the cover to 136! Very dramatic cover. Definitely post it up here when it comes in.
  2. Though I suspect our budgets normally look a bit different at full-strength, I hear you. Which Spideys are you picking up?
  3. Silly me for thinking the 9.6s were impressive! Very, very nice books WB! I just realized that we don't have an actual thread (until now) dedicated towards general Bronze Age Spideys. Good call with putting this thread up!
  4. Gibbon... kinda ranks right up there with Kangaroo. Regardless, those are some heavy hitting books you've got there WB
  5. :o You haven't cataloged your books??? How do you keep track of grades, etc?
  6. Not to be picky... but shouldn't "good" be on the right and "evil" on the left? I always learned when I die, GO TO THE RIGHT!
  7. You and Captain seem to think I'll be upgrading soon... good thing my wallet's shot to keep this from taking place. Maybe years down the road I will. But I have a bunch of other comic-related goals that I want to hit before I begin walking down that expensive road And I find most of my nicer shaped books fall into the BA and CA ages. I might have a few mid-grade Silvers, but generally in the G/VG range or so..
  8. Topher- I can't even bring my laptop near my copies- they'd suddenly realize how low grade they are in comparison to yours .
  9. Was it? I always tracked it as 96. Still, my older brother always told me, "Don't argue with the guy who's loaded with tats." And I stand by that advice still.
  10. Silver Agers (BA for ASM kicked off with ish 96 and the comic code-defying drug storyline). Still nice covers though
  11. First... wow- looks like I was mildly clueless as to my good fortunes! Anyhow, I make no pretenses about being a wizened old collector. I'm still in the learning process here. So, here's a sales related question for y'all: When you are trading comics with someone, at what value do you trade the books? I know when selling comics, you usually look at the FMV or at least the typical % off the OSPG for books of that title and grade. Does it work the same with trades? Stupid question perhaps, but I'd still be stupid without an answer if I didn't ask.
  12. Picture is in 8-bit from my end... am I missing something here?
  13. Well there's no sunlight in the room, I have very dark tint on that window. I don't think the 80 watt bulb in the ceiling fan will do much damage. Plus I hate to have my favorite books packed up where I can't see them all the time. Couldn't agree more- if I ever own these books, they will certainly be up for display. Almost seems like a waste of money to buy grails like these and not put 'em out for viewing enjoyment. Just make sure they're on your insurance policy
  14. couldn't resist huh? C'mon guys! We've got to do better than Dennis the Menace!
  15. Well... my collection is nearing the $10,000 marker but still a little way to go. Of course, this figure should be taken with grain of salt as it assumes that I would get full OSPG for ALL books (and we all know the reality of that happening).
  16. Mine is half detached. Fun cover art though isn't it?
  17. I knew you had it in you. (thumbs u Hey, a guy's got to keep a couple surprises up his sleeve. General rule of thumb for me (though it's a flexible rule) is: SA= Low grade BA= Mid grade CA= High grade. There are a few exceptions here and there, but this is generally what I stick to. And I'd agree- this ASM 87 is a really nice looking cover. It doesn't have a lot going on with it (like some of the later SA ASMs do, but it works. It's also slightly reminiscient of the ASM 50 cover so that scores points for it as well
  18. You've got to at least hold on to the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Pedigree until after the holidays
  19. It's going to be a little before the book comes into my possession, but Black00SS agreed to sell me his undercopy of ASM #1 (Blue label 1.0) since he just upgraded with QualityComix's over in Sales Forum.
  20. *** Alert! Alert! *** Grail.................ACQUIRED! More to follow (when I get back from shopping with the missus).
