  1. Got to give it up for that Mysterio cover! One of my fav's!
  2. Nice grab! Looks to be somewhere in the VG range. Yeah... I'd definitely say you pegged that one for well below guide value KoW. And Cap, you better get back to Aces... whole bunch of 's gathering around here.
  3. Yeah Cap, you don't want to land yourself back on The List !
  4. Ok ok ok. I've been chatting without contributing pics of new books. Here's the most recent addition to my longbox o' Spideys! Not only sweet low-graded goodness, but I was able to pick it up at the minimum starting price on ComicConnect tonight. I have to give credit to Vincent over in Metropolis for pointing this one out to me the other day- very cool on his part.
  5. Big thanks to Point Five for a great deal on ASM 191, 197, a freebie BA X-Men 146, and.... a FANTASTIC looking X-Men #50! Thanks for helping me this classic Steranko to my box!
  6. Always liked that cover... then again, I liked most of McFarlane's ASM covers. I still have love for those SS guys who got me a Todd siggy on my 298 (yes, yes, I realize he's not an SA guy but there's always room for a little Tood praise ) And since there seems to be an impression that this thread hasn't seen much action lately, let's see what y'all think about this: A number of collectors and dealers I've spoken to have talked about the increasing rise in both the popularity and prices for Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man comics- this includes those sweet low grades that yours truly loves so very much. I know Rhonda has also been doing some legitimate work on collecting and processing info on this, but what are your experiences? Do you find low-grade ASMs are getting harder and harder to find below OSPG in the LCS? eBay? Other online locations? I don't want to to taint the water with my own POV just yet, so what do the rest of you think?
  7. So John... are you planning to send in the coupon for free sea horses?
  8. Couldn't agree more Doc. I think what I like most about the forums sales is that it takes the good from online sales (i.e. eBay) and that of the LCS (don't have to buy it over before figuring out what's wrong with it). Of course, it's not always perfect but it is better than "lucking one from some anonymous seller on the other end of cyberspace." The sellers I buy from are always helpful in providing scans and detailed grading notes about their books beforehand; it's a rare eBay seller that will do so. Plus, there's always some great conversations to be had in between sales! To be fair though (since I know Sharon will correct me if I don't say so ) there are some good eBay sellers out there. It's just the consistency is much better here
  9. I can't help but think there must be someway to contact his local authorities in order to help "motivate" this deadbeat. I normally don't like to call others names, but when you take someone's money, don't follow through, and then don't even respond, well... I call them how I see them.
  10. One more thing- if this future son of mine ever DOES sell my comics after I'm gone, I'm going to haunt him.
  11. Do you HONESTLY think I'm ever selling my stuff? Shame on you. This place is like an adoption agency for me- I come in looking to bring home the poor, unwanted, and unloved books. And I want to be able to read my books as this was the run my brother collected and got me hooked into X-Men. So, I'd like to have a set for myself. Of course, if someone wants to sell me their mid-grade collection for the price of GD, then no complaints on my part. Besides, if my personal collection ever does get sold, it means I'm 6-feet under and my kid turned out to NOT be a comic collector after all.
  12. VG would be A-O-K. That lovely little run can get dang pricey when you get too high. $10-$25 an issue can add up rather quickly. I'm tempted to post my entire wishlist up in the WTB forum, but Id hate to get flooded with responses and not be able to follow through on them all, you know? (p.s. your 13 and Aces STA2 are in the front of the line )
  13. Yeah... the writing in the title is a little bit of a bummer, but the price was right. And I think the newer writing helps compensate. On another note... my fellow ASM collectors, I think I'm taking a temporary break from my Spideys (except for those purchases I've already penciled in from some of you out there). I'm not going to stop picking them up when a great deal presents itself (of course). But I do think it's time to broaden my scope a little more as I'm finding as there are fewer issues I need and fewer available. Anyhow, thanks to Doc Watson's amazing looking BA X-Men posting, I'm going to do a little more work on building my BA X-Men collection (pretty meager offering right now). It's not good bye... just taking my time to wait for a good buy
  14. No doubt about that, just not the titles I'm cruising for. It comes and goes in cycles I guess.
  15. What a mess... if this fella ever shows up on the boards attempting to sell again (which I doubt), I'll be passing on his thread.
  16. Kudos to heinlein99 for the quick and easy transaction!
  17. Now you need get the pic that has a bunny with a pancake on his head.
  18. I had previously agreed with Jon's point... but the thread I started basically got side-swiped by an angry member on sabbatical. Can we give this a try? I think this thread clearly highlights the problem with combining Probation Discussion with a Probation List- someone got lost in the crowd.
