  1. You sold them? I might give you call when I'm in the market for some of those others you have that I'm missing... Really nice copies you have there, especially that ASM 1 and AF 15!
  2. Boy, and I was just in my LCS today and sitting up on the rack right behind the cash register was their copy of ASM 9. I was thinking how cool it's going to be when I finally own a copy of that issue as I always really liked Electro as a kid. So, I'm reading through all of the ASMs I own again and it just makes me better appreciate what a loss it was when Gwen died in 121. I grew up with MJ, but really... thank goodness they grew her character up cause I forgot how annoying she could be in the older stuff.
  3. Hey now! Go take a look- they were submitted in the PGM Thread. Ballpark on each was ASM in 2.0 - 3.0 (down in my books as a 2.5), and the ASM 5 somewhere between 0.5 - 1.5 (again, in my books as a 1.0). BUT, when you consider the fact I only paid $100 ($85 on the 3 and $15 on the 5)total for the two of them... Where are all the funny remarks about my low-grades now?
  4. Rhonda- I'm probably going to throw your numbers off since I'm a raw, low-grade collector, but consider my hat thrown in the ring. And Cap, it's found on the upper left corner from the front cover of old SA Spideys.
  5. Any time you can add more SA Spidey to the long box is a good day. No arguments from me!
  6. Iron Man and Ant Man for Spider-Man? You aren't really disappointed are you? That's ground for having to turn over your webslinger books...
  7. And by cute she means I'm dork. Which wouldn't be far removed from the truth! No, I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss this earlier thank you as well for the books you sent me. You DID fill some big gaps in my early ASMs so making sure you get the public as well as private kudos is important!
  8. (thumbs u for Skypinkblu for a big pile of early SA ASMs! Thanks Sharon!
  9. Jon- that is an AMAZING deal you got for the ASM 300/ASM1! And really, nice presentability on the front cover. As fast as my SA ASM collection is growing, I know that #1 will probably elude me for a little while. Still, 30+ issues to worry about before crossing that bridge. Richard, since you seem to have the "diease of completionism," I would suggest going with the ASM series for three reasons: 1. you've already got 201-300, why not get the whole damn series? 2. it's a title that is always in demand and I can't imagine seeing it drop off anytime soon (so prices probably won't get toooo much better), but more importantly 3. they're a lot of fun to read. Cap- same reasons for you too!-) I really can't say about the Timely comics as I don't have any experience with them. Still, MrBedrock's advice sounds pretty solid. I know that when I've had people offer to make some trades, I'm pretty limited on what I have because my collection is really, really focused; there's nothing I can really afford to trade off. If I had a wider spread of titles, might be a little easier for me. And Blue... that ASM 45 is really, really beautiful. Wonder what it must have been like flipping through a book that old in that condition?
  10. 201-300-- This is the run I grew up during and initially got hooked on and it's probably the biggest distractor to my SA run I'm working on You'd be proud though Richard; my ASM 201-300 run is actually a high grade run (F/VF - NM). BAs are closer to the mid grade range though... kinda drops off in grade the further you go back.
  11. Thanks! Yeah, its been coming along really nicely as of late. Less than 40 issues left to go before 1-100 is finished! Don't ask how many are high grade though...
  12. Yeah, that is a nice one. There was this one I was looking at that presents really nicely, but has the issue number cut out (WHY on earth would you DO that?) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170127539708&ssPageName=STRK:MEBOFF:IT&ih=007
  13. Kudos to Pirate for getting some beautiful John Romita Sr. signatures on my Amazing Spider-Man 39, 40, & 50! (and thanks to Jonjesper for referring me to Pirate). I'll be posting pics up in the SS Thread shortly!
  14. Well, looks like ASM 25 (FAIR) is getting added to the pile as well! And maybe, just maybe Piper will be giving me the assist on a certain 13 in the near future...
  15. One of my two targets has been acquired- ASM 15 along with copies of ASM 8, 10, 12, 18, & 19! 8, 10, & 18 are probably somewhere in the Fair range, 15 & 18 somewhere around 1.5 - 2.0, and the 12 (Poor) was thrown in for free. Needless to say, a big advance in the progress of the collection.
  16. Sorry Piper, but I'm a fan of the Prowler-- always liked the way he looked, and he definitely served as a Spawn-prototype (there was a thread about this a while back in the CA forum I think). Still, each to his own. (thumbs u
  17. Shocker? C'mon now... I always kinda liked him. And ASM 72 is a great cover. Now Kangaroo... I just feel bad for him. 1st Appearance- ASM 81. 2nd Appearance- ASM 126 which also was his last appearance thanks to jumping into a nuclear engine or something goofy like that. What a maroon!
  18. Bug Kudos to Jonjesper for getting my ASM 298 McFarlane, UXM 201 Portacio, and Batman 608 Lee signatures! They look fantastic! (thumbs u
  19. Oh, I have a feeling it might a little while before I pick that one up. Looked really, really nice-- around a solid VG, and a great price at only $150, but I'm still short this month. The 15 (again, a solid VG) was only sitting around $90, so I might aim for that first.
