  1. There is some mystery surrounding it, but there are rumors of him popping up in the upcoming "Marvels" movie and the character has shown up in comics here and there (the last one I remember was the recent "Doctor Doom" series). Still, even with that and the fact that it was valuable long before movie rumors is strange.
  2. The last three are getting sold to offset CGC costs, but I gotta keep the Gunslingers.
  3. If you see the art being put out now as bad, I really don't know what to tell you. It's all subjective, but I love how many of the stories are being told as well as the stories themselves. I'm just really getting tired of people like yourself telling us that we need to do more reading to come around to your thinking. I've read plenty. I have my opinion, and it's just as valid as yours. You are not the arbiter of excellence in art and storytelling.
  4. No, you don't. The quality of art (writing and artwork) is entirely subjective. Stop telling people what they should consider good or bad.
  5. Read your first comment about how everything new is garbage.
  6. I enjoy older stuff too, but I’m not so close-minded as to write everything off in the last thirty years or so as garbage. There was plenty of garbage in the old days too.
  7. I stopped reading after "But that's when comics had stories that were worth reading." Another "old man yells at cloud" moment.
  8. I don't know. I think it's a bit elitist and dismissive of some of the great stories that have come out of the last three decades to call them drek. I don't mind people that try to flip new stuff for a profit as long as the regular customer can get their hands on the issues (limiting sales of a specific comic at your LCS helps), because there is still a lot of risk involved. More power to them. I do some spec, but the volatility of the market keeps me from diving in too much because of the stress and money involved.
  9. I'm well aware of the judgment being made. I can judge too.
  10. And I don't have much sympathy for people who judge others based on what they're submitting, and frankly you don't have any idea what brand new "drek" will be valuable down the line and what won't.
  11. Oh man. I just looked at the prices for Nextwave. I didn't realize. I'll have to dig my copy of the first one out and see what kind of condition it's in.
  12. It's the first appearance of Cy-Gor, but it doesn't appear to be worth more than cover price. You can find them raw on eBay at a pretty low cost. I have no doubt though that some overly optimistic sellers with 9.8 graded copies would put up a wildly high list price.
  13. What I want to know, ma'am, is how so many carp got in your yard. We're not anywhere near a body of water.
  14. That Funko wall is beautiful. I remove mine from the boxes and have close to 400 scattered about the room randomly. Ha ha.
  15. Mine are getting pressed. Delivered about the same time, same tier. Still sitting at "Received at CCS". Gives me the twitchy eye.
  16. I've noticed that they've slowed down on the signing events. Hopefully they're focusing more on getting books out.
  17. I don't have anything really specific. I buy various special, rarer covers now and again when they're affordable for first appearances or other firsts (like the recent Moon Knight #3), and I seem to be accumulating a lot of variants for the Star Wars High Republic series. I buy a good chunk of what comes out each week anyway, and I figure some will really shoot up in the future as some did when I first really started collecting back between 2006 and 2011. Not enough to cover my costs now by any means, but I hope to get some kind of decent money years down the road.
  18. That's funny. I can see every cover in each one of my slabs very clearly. Like I said, others will disagree, and that's fine.
  19. Personally, I like how book look slabbed better. Obviously from the responses on here, many disagree.
  20. Just ignore him. He likes to argue.
  21. A raw copy of Catwoman #51 (2006). That was before I had done anything with CGC. I wish now I had gotten it slabbed first because I remember it being in great condition.
  22. Ah. I misread it. I thought it was a "buy it now" price! I have no explanation then.
  23. $45 a book? Nah. Another eBay seller really overestimating the value of their stuff, probably making the mistake of basing their prices on what some eBay sellers charge and not what these books actually sell for.
  24. Hey, if people feel the need to be rude to me, they can go at it. OP may have been overzealous in posting, but I've seen the regulars be rude to too many new people on these forums for no reason. I don't care how many posts someone has. That's no reason to bash someone for asking simple questions.
