  1. Awesome books. Love that AW11. Yeah, they could've done a better job with slabbing that book. The book looks fine, seems like the guy who slabbed it was either drunk or hadn't drank his V8 that morning. They should reholder that for you.............for free.
  2. I got that room. It was either that, or my wife knew I'd want to hang my comic art in the rest of the house. Win! I had to split a basement room in half. Framed it, put up the drywall and all that jazz. Then the wife converted the "good" half into an office and I got shafted with the dinky, unfinished half, including the water heater and furnace. This is our 2nd house and I still don't have what I consider to be ample room to pull off the man room of my dreams. Probably won't happen until house #3. Until then, i'm how do you say...........ed.
  3. It stinks. That's frustrating. I bet the seller was bombarded with so many inquires and I won't be surprise it will end up be a in CGC holder and up for auction in the future. My other theory was that as well. That the seller might not have known what they had and when they saw the interest perhaps they realized that it is a valuable book. I would not be surprised either. And by then it will command a "ton" of $$$ to obtain most likely. MYSTERY SOLVED! I finally got a response from the seller: "Thank you very much for your interest in my Detective Comics, number 35, Batman issue. I was so inundated with so many questions concerning so many aspects of the condition of this comic which I just could not answer. One Ebayer was kind enough to advise me that I would be better of, since I know nothing about comics, to send it to CGC for appropriate grading instead od providing Ebayers with my own, perhaps incorrect, grading of this comic. Please contact me in a few days and I will let you know what the grading is and what I plan to do with this comic book. Thank you again." Also sent me a message with their e-mail and told me to e-mail in a few days. That's good DETECTIVE work Bat-Man. (thumbs u I'm interested to see if they do send it to cgc. And what the grade is. As with any book CGC makes a transaction safer for both the buyer and seller! (Also might drive the price up!) That will be true...no ifs or buts. Looks like it will be a universal grade. Yeah it does, might turn out to be a stunner. I am glad they are thinking cgc because when I inquired about specifics I was left with more questions than answers. Like she called the covers "wrappers" and things like that which really confused me. Hopefully the book will end up in a blue holder and find its way back on to an auction site so everyone can have a shot at it. As that joke referenced, wouldn't be surprised if HA and Clink contacted the seller to try and get a piece of the action. Or, after the grade is made known, if it is indeed a nice, blue label, maybe i'll email her and tell her that if she doesn't need the cash to just sit on the book as it will only get more valuable year after year.
  4. I am so annoyed at this. I tried contacting the seller and asked why it was pulled but got no response. Got an offer he couldn't refuse? If you could work out a deal and avoid as many fees as possible, why not? ebay rules be damned.
  5. Turn on the red light! I have the run (8 issues) of Nickel Comics, and they are fun books. Steve Did you watch the gold medal game? Crummy result but great game still.
  6. Nice book Bill. I guess I gots to get me one of the fancy new Pinnacle books too. Anyway, here's my lone, recent pickup.
  7. Ok, is it just me, or is this some language other than English above! Or is this some sort of hip-hop lingo I just don't know? Ima sign your piddy on the runny kine. Pootie Tang DD! (With Biggie Shorty outfit for the prison playset) "You think that just cuz a girl likes to dress fancy and stand on the corner next to some whores, that she's hookin?" One of many, many great lines from that movie. This and Idiocracy. Two of the downright dumbest movies ever. So dumb they are actually brilliant.
  8. .....watson and joeypost are just dirty, scumbag pressers anyway. Or at least somebody told me that. And dicex, all he's good for is having great avatars. Other than that he's just an empty vessel, sand pounder. ps: Don't take these boards too seriously. In the few years I've been here about the only things I have learned are that geeks dig hot chicks and we all spend too much time goofing off on message boards instead of doing actual work.
  9. apologetic wuss. United Way Volunteer. If it makes you feel any better I plan on giving a blind person wrong directions and kicking somebody's dog later.
  10. So what? At least you can sleep at night knowing you were the bigger person. At least that's how I look at it. And maybe one day they will apologize. Maybe one day they'll stop taking shots at you. You can't decide to not do the right thing just b/c you think the other guy won't follow suit. That's the other guy's problem. Let it be their problem. Control what you can control. Take control of your own image. Don't worry so much about what others say.

  12. Same advice I've tried to give the guy since the first time he was punched on, but he doesn't listen. Save your breath because you'll be on his bad guy list too. putting this situation aside, "go pound sand" is probably one of my all time favorite tell offs. (thumbs u
  13. This is what my daughters do. They apologize for whacking the other one of the head with something and say "but I only hit her b/c she hit me". I have to explain to them that that's not an apology. As for the select few who have you on ignore. F-em. No offense to those folks but what do you want them to do? If they're going to continue to bring it up and bad mouth you, your best action is to either ignore it or politely ask them to stop. You don't have to gear up for battle every time your name is mentioned. It's like my wife does to me when I am being an insufficiently_thoughtful_person. She just walks away. It's kind of hard to argue with somebody who just ignores you. So ignore it and move forward towards something better.
  14. In my life time I have only ever been kicked off one board in which I was even invited back to it by the owner. I am a member to about 80 other boards right now and I have no issues on any of them except this one. This is because people wont let it go and expect me to let everything go while they still hound me. They went and put on ignore demanding an open apology which wil never happen and have made me to look alot worse then what I really am when people dont know all teh facts of what brought on the issue. they say i play the victim card but they are just as guilty of doing it too. they dont want to move on and since they dont want to i will keep defending myself pretty much it has been quiet but occasioannly a few like watson slip in their posts This is an endless circle for you. You'll never apologize, and they'll never give up pointing out the complete insensitivity of your remarks. People don't particularly care for you here because of those remarks, so even if they don't say it, an overwhelming majority of people think you were a total jerk about the situation. If you are a member of 80 other boards and they have no problem, why the need to stick around here? People don't seem to like you or value your contributions... why stay somewhere like that when you can go elsewhere and be appreciated? This is the main comic board I have stuck too and while there is those few that still attack me there is those I still get along with. And what people are forgetting is they owe me an apology too. this isnt just one sided although they have tried very hard to make it look like that and deceived people. I'm not saying to go or stay, but whether you owed an apology or not, you've been steadfast in your stance that you did nothing wrong. My advice (and feel free to tell me to go to hell) is to apologize for the remarks -- whether or not you felt they were justified, I think it's clear they were ill timed and inappropriate. I honestly think that would go a long way. Now, I realize you could take the position that I won't do it unless they do in which case this goes no where. But... I think it'd go a long way to putting this whole thing behind us. There's a lot of people with no dog in the fight that view your remarks as just in poor taste. I'm not going to claim that any issue is one sided and that there is no way that you have any reason to be upset. But even if I concede that, I think it's fair for you to at least make the concession that your remark regarding Nik's passing was really in poor taste. Whether you choose to apologize is your decision, but I certainly would think of you in a much different light if, even after all this time, you took the high road and apologized first. People tend to sympathize and forgive -- and while you may not have been completely wrong, I'm not sure there's any circumstance to justify the timing and nature of your remark. Let me say that if you did the right thing -- and acknowledged your remarks as inappropriate, it'd be much harder for your critics to feel that they could continue to hound you with impunity. I missed the initial brouhaha but have caught up to speed on it. Whisp, Brian's advice is sound. I think I pm'd you pretty much the same thing a long time ago. What is done is done. Just b/c a couple of people won't let it go, doesn't mean you have to continue to drag yourself down. If you're sincere, all you need to do is apologize and let it go on your end. Don't continue to give people ammunition. Yes, I know somebody brought it up in this thread. Frankly, they should not have. It was a potshot and completely unnecessary. But they did. And you needed to let it slide. You need to be a bigger person about it. If you rise to the occasion every single time somebody slights you, you're not going to get anywhere. Trust me, I know. You can't fight every battle. It doesn't mean you're giving in or giving up. It just means you're choosing the higher road. This board ought to be somewhere you come to enjoy yourself. You'll get from it what you put into it. Let it go. For those who can't let it go, let that be their problem.
  15. The same here, and lately with all these forum drives, social conscience and never-ending charity auctions, it seems that the CGC Forums needs a new logo: True, but there are worse things this board could be known for. I don't know a single board member personally. Yet I gave my wife all the info she needs to log in here in the case of my untimely death. Why? Because of all the places I think she could go to sell my books and get something for her and the kids and not get swindled, a place where people would do everything they could to help her maximize her return, this place is #1 on the list. and yes, she knows not to sell all the books in bulk to any dealers.
  16. I can see your point, so why is Steve telling me to support this action because "Jan needs the money" - it makes no sense. And to anyone simple-minded enough to think that Danny is going to leave money lying around for authorities to find (in the event he goes to jail). Danny is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. I agree. I understand what you're saying about Mark's approach. I''m sure Mark's intentions are to try and help this lady out. But I can see how the original wording opens up some questions.
  17. Again, learn to read - it was an insult to you guys. You sling so many of them it's sometimes hard to differentiate.
  18. If what Danny is doing is wrong its hardly a good reason to allow him to continue to do it just b/c it might have an adverse affect on the child support situation. Would it be any different if Danny were out robbing banks and using a teeny portion of that to pay child support? Would we not turn him in because taking away his ability to rob banks would make him unable to pay what little child support he funnels her way?
  19. My first pick ups. Low grade but they look nice.
  20. Kudos to Dark Knight (Brian) for helping me join the SC 22 club! (thumbs u
  21. Interesting. I'm not accustomed to seeing it so much in hockey. Nobody did it in high school. I didn't see anyone doing it in college (although I was not playing in a big D1 program either) I don't think it's that prevalent in hockey. Or it just hasn't been found out yet.
  22. Is it just me or has Bush been shooting up? I don't remember him being that built in college. Maybe all the time he spends hurt provides lots of weight lifting time.
