  1. Wow, another great book, and you don't see that issue very often. Nice Steve.
  2. Great books, there were a couple of really nice collections in that auction.
  3. Ditto, the live auction begins with the proxy bids entered first. So the first live bid would be the 2nd highest proxy bid plus one increment(or the highest bid if less(plus one increment)). That's what bumped it up so quickly without much time passed for live bidding.
  4. The CLink auction was odd again, some really high and others soft. The ASM #8 9.4 was a bargain at $500 under GPA, while the 9.2 went for almost $500 over GPA.
  5. Man, that must have made you really want to open up your own comic shop! ... or credit card. Good story.
  6. Very sweet Roy, keep it looking that way for a long time.
  7. Thank you Tom, I really liked that book too. You do pack things great also. I'll find that thick plastic of mine and see what it takes to cut it for slab protection, like you do. That's a great idea.
  8. It looks well read, the spine has a lot of wear on it. CGC doesn't always grade the spine very well, sometimes they hardly deduct for a bad spine. If it doesn't have any restoration like a color touch, I'd suggest CGC would be near 4.0 blue. The spine is worse than the cover appearance, a better spine would bring that up closer to a 6.0 Fine. The seller's description supports this, he calls it a VG.
  9. That is slick, I wonder how they did work? Price might have hurt them given how cheap people are.
  10. It's a VFNM white, I bought my #4 and 5 both in 2005 or so. I got a few in 2007 from Heritage, and then last year I felt like getting back into it.
  11. Cool Jason... Can you bug them about mine too next time you call? I'm waiting for five economy tier books from November. Here are two of the last books I got from CGC, my under copies. These were my best raw books before getting back into collecting last year.
  12. Glad to help, any time. Regards,
  13. Super nice Jason, wow that's a lot of HG books to get back. The 8.5 is a shame, but there is the odd unseen defect occasionally. At lest they are all blue labels. Yes. What are those clear backing boards made of, and are they as rigid as other boards? Regards,
  14. I have BCE real acid free boards, and their closed top Mylars. I hadn't thought of clear, is that new in the last 20 years?
  15. This had me thinking. I'll make a fun and speculated guess. How many are in collectors hands? I would image there would be 800-1000 How many are in dealers hands? This is a sizzling book for dealers to flip 10-20 copies. How many are for sale at the right price? 700-900 copies How many are not for sale at any price? less than <5 How much does the book have to escalate in value to get more to shake free? 3/4 of AF15's price. Let's do a fun blue label ratio test: 5.0+ Showcase 4 37.12% Showcase 22 29.10% Showcase 22 is more scarce in 5.0+ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.0+ Showcase 4 5.07% Showcase 22 6.09% Showcase 4 is more scarce in 6.0+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.5+ Showcase 4 12.12 % Showcase 22 5.06% Showcase 22 is more scarce in 7.5+ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- From the ratio test SC22 is more scarce in 5.0+ SC4 is more scarce in 6.0+ SC22 is more scarce in 7.5+ Here's a more concise way to put that: SC22 is more scarce in 5.0-5.5 SC4 is more scarce from 6.0 to 7.0 SC22 is more scarce in 7.5+
