  1. What did it sell for? I didn't because I have an 8.5 for sale.
  2. but my son appreciates it. He's ready to start a hobby and likes Spider-man so time is right for an ASM run. It's a great hobby, he'll enjoy it. Be sure to also teach him what the census data means, now rare these really are. Beautiful book.
  3. That's a beautiful copy of a tough book, GRATS! (thumbs u What did that one go for? Thanks! It was pretty pricey Just over $2200. I really wanted it but wasnt quite sure what to bid. If i remember right, there hadnt been a 9.6 sale on GPA since like 2006 when one went for 2k. That one was about the nicest i've seen and was a cover i've always loved so i felt it was worth the steep tag. WOW! Super tough book! Suh-weeet! Ditto, a super nice book. That is a good price IMO, it is so rare in high grades that it will be more expensive in the future.
  4. Very nice Steve, congrats. Now to find a copy with all of Sue's hair showing.
  5. Out him. Free to sell here. Sellers, suck it up, 4% for a sale is the cheapest possible way to sell a book other than to your granny. I agree, state the selling methods and details up front. Do not change things after a sale is agreed upon. Unrelated, I made an offer recently to sell two raw books for $20 shipped. I meant for it to be $25, $20 plus shipping. I didn't change my post or offer, my mistake and not worth making an issue about it. We all don't like PayPal's exorbitant fees. They are making a killing in profits from basically zero labor or costs per transaction. That's their right to set prices, we just need a competitor to come along and charge half as much, or less. We need the free market to correct pricing. Night, I'd be the last person seen waving the 'rampant capitalism is wonderful' flag, but Paypal's fees are actually very reasonable. Comparing them to credit card merchant services, their fee structure is competitive and ease of use is unbeatable. And just because they don't employ 8,000 people doing manual labour doesn't mean that they're not entitled to make decent money for a good product delivered well. I do not agree in the slightest. I meant exactly what I said. If they charged .5% or .25% fees, that might be reasonable. Their costs are nearly nothing, literally, virtually, as close to nothing as a business can get. I do not agree that it's fair or reasonable for a company to make billions of dollars in profit margin(not gross), for almost no labor or manpower. That's a large part of why monopolies are illegal, to reduce the uncontrolled profits, which benefits the consumer. Their cost for utilities and software management are probably comparable to a very small business that may gross $500,000(the evil rich which Obama hates). Yet that kind of small business will be spending $400,000 to get that $500k, and after taxes the owner is a typical middle class individual. Paypal is generating massive profits, absolutely massive, considering their costs. I fully support capitalism, don't assume I'm a rich people hater. I encourage anyone to make as much as they can, and I don't want any restrictions on them by government. But that doesn't change economics or what competition means. If a real alternative to Paypal comes along, all they have to do to be successful is undercut the fees, and they still will make tons of money. Do not compare Paypal to any other financial institution, that is apples to oranges. CC's have huge issues(costs) with expenses of fraud and abuses, and advertising. The limited scope of Paypal transactions is very basic and easy for them to operate, cheap and simple. eBay did very well in buying it up. Regards,
  6. Sweet books there, that Suscha collection was really great. I watched about 10 of them, and didn't notice the #21. I only won the 9.2 #23, I needed that more than the others. Many of those 9.6+ books sold very well, big money on most. Great auction by Comic Connect.

  8. Love you Pov, but I disagree. via timestamp is the most logical in my books. The seller's inability to manage the thread is what caused this problem. When the seller said "Sold!" that should have been the final word...even if not everyone heard it. It doesn't say anything about the "I'll take it" having to be posted in the actual thread - it just says that the first one posted gets the sale. And as Green was the first to post the "I'll take it", the books are clearly his  This. (thumbs u You did not clearly specify in the thread rules that an on the thread takes precedence. Furthermore, I understand you were busy packaging people's wins but that doesn't take precedence over you managing your thread. I'm not picking sides, the sides have already been chosen by the rules that were laid out by the seller and the seller's statement of "sold". Once Green met your demands and you PMd back "sold" the deal was done. Handshake complete. Papers signed. No turning back. Those are the hard facts. Anything else is just smoke and mirrors. I think Roy has best described the way a sale thread should operate. I agree that a time stamp should be the deciding factor for I'll Take It posts that happen near together. I have not read that initial post in the thread discussed here, and don't want to just come down on either side. It doesn't make sense to have a sale where people invest time and effort into making deals anywhere away from the thread, and a thread post afterwords kills that deal. I don't mind people wanting to be more subtle or secretive in their deals, I can work with that(and have). The rules must be clear(to all) in the thread's first post, then we can all work with them. I will say that this is a good lesson for all future sales threads. I will make sure that I always clearly declare how a deal is sealed, and how it trumps any other offers. For me that means any I'll Take It posted anywhere, with a verifiable time stamp is suitable. I will state that in my first thread post, and keep the thread updated as well as possible. Regards,
  9. Sweet copy Tom!! Was the cracked case disclosed in the item description? Not sure if it happened in transit but I'm sending it back thru CLINK for reholdering ...love the book though... That's a great looking VFNM book, congrats Tom. The time to re-holder it shouldn't be bad now, my ASM 50 took about six weeks from when CLink said they shipped it(September). Regards,
  10. Holy Schnikes!!! Now THAT is a MONSTER book! Beautiful!!! Love the reds and yellow on this cover! Holy shite is right! Envious pick-up cheetah-man! Yes, ditto, Beautiful book.
  11. I was underbidder at $914...went for $955... There is a gorgeous 9.4 in the ComicConnect auction ending in a few weeks that belongs to a wonderful fellow. That #14 of yours is a nice copy, I'm watching that one too, though with no money left. (thumbs u
  12. I know a couple of people who also wanted those #14's, don't feel too unlucky. I should have held off on the #10 because it's not that tough to find, but I'm pleased to have won the #11, that is super tough in any grade. So I'll get over the price thing and be happy with the end results. Regards,
  13. Those were excellent books and prices. I need both of them, but I got too stuck on the #10 and chased it. I'd like to let that one go back, that was too high.
  14. The ASM 20 9.2 went up $1000, I was tempted until it jumped. Somebody took the 9.4 from 1koko here, at the end for $100. Mine went up a bunch so I can't do any more. There were still a bunch of bargains, likely from the internet issue. The ASM 31 was still cheap, I noticed the 9.6 of ASM 48 still only got $787 was it. The #52's were worth the money, lots of the later books are going lower still. It looks like most people came back for the older books.
  15. Beautiful books there, and good prices too. I thank you for taking the #15, I really didn't want to win that along with the others I was after. The site slow down began right after the 15's. Now CLink has messed up most bidders, who change their later bids based on the prices they got on earlier books. All of the winning bidders now have their high bids shown, which in the end will pay CLink and the sellers more. Regards,
  16. It would be nice if they did give sellers that option. Some may be pleased with their prices (I haven't looked at all the final results from that span of time) but others may be really upset. I'm sure there is some language in the Clink agreements that says they can void results in the event of a technical issue, and this would certainly qualify. Ah yes, and don't forget the angry Winning Bidders who will have something to complain about too. Yes, exactly, that's the dilemma, they cannot really fix it. Pulling them entirely as cheetah suggested is the most fair thing they could do. But they'd have to do it really quickly, as in now or tonight. Once people start paying for the books it becomes more complicated still. I think that CLink could look hard at the bids at the very end of the auctions and figure out which ones were affected greatly.
  17. That ASM 31 looks like the most affected, even though it went off right after the site was back up. How do you make it up to a seller who could very likely have expected the sale price to be $1000 greater than it is? That seller is potentially out $900, and Clink just $100.
  18. There were a ton of sweet books in there, it's a shame that some of them didn't get a fair chance to auction off properly. Regards,
  19. That book had about 5 seconds left when I got back into the site. I went back to my bid page first, and the #31 was the next one ending. I didn't have time to enter a price and hit the two pages. I also noticed a lot of the books after those were slow, a lot of bidders evidently went away or stopped waiting. The 9.6 and 9.4 #52's went cheap as well, and that was several minutes later.
  20. During that 6-10 minute period, there were no bids placed on the several books I was watching. I wonder if it was their whole site connection, or elsewhere besides them.
  21. How many people have noticed the Clink site freezing between ASM 16 and about ASM 30? I got the #16 because no one else could bid just before it ended, and the issues before about #30 stayed at their same bids. I would have tried for the #22 and a couple of others. I didn't react quick enough for the #31 when the site came back up, that one went for $1000 under GPA.
