  1. Well done guys, hopefully that nut is cracked and gone for good.
  2. That is a great list Frank, thanks for that. I've figured those out by the market and what has come up. I went after the #11 as one of several I had never had luck finding many of. Same for #4, and of course the other obvious issues.
  3. Sorry that you are going through this with that buyer. Have you called paypal yet? Personally, I would just to state your case and stress that a missing label shouldn't really qualify for a refund. Plus, maybe it would alert Paypal to what this guy is really up to. Hope this works out in your favor. I did call PayPal. Twice. The first time when he opened the dispute. The second time when he opened the claim. The agents I spoke to didn't exactly inspire confidence. It sounded like they were reading from scripts. The second time I called I just wanted to be sure that they wouldn't issue a refund until I indicated that I received the returned book. He has to provide PayPal with tracking information. And I'm thinking I'll videotape myself opening the box if I ever get it back. I highly suggest making a video of the parcel, clearly showing the tracking #, and of it being opened. I can say first hand that PayPal will side with the sender's tracking number over anything the recipient says. I lost that way in 2004 when a seller sent a box with just one of two books I bought. I didn't think of the chance of being had until I had opened it. Have someone make a video, don't try to do it yourself with a cheap camera. I tested that idea later on in case I needed to another time. That didn't work very well, bad video.
  4. Ditto, very nice. Those were the first Marvel drug comics, with no comics code to deface the cover.
  5. Also, how about adding to the existing new thread page, such as comments to point members to the rules. There is a field already filled into the subject line, how about changing that to say "have you read the rules about sales threads?" Or at least post something to the empty right side of the screen, a comment suggesting they read the rules, plus a link to them.
  6. That is sad to hear. I received a CGC book recently without a top label, and I noticed it quickly, but I cannot recall which it is now. It's not that big of a deal really, this was the first I have without one. Many old label books have had loose top labels, but I could fix that if I needed to with a touch of glue. We do what we can. I hope that turns out fine Barton, and forgettable. BTW, thanks again for the scanner settings, the few I made to test it worked great. (thumbs u
  7. Hulk who ? Hulk smash puny humans who say "Hulk who"....... Who Hulk is? I received the HA catalogs today. There is an 8.0 and a 7.5 shown in there. I browsed through it while at a friend's house. He was interested in the two 8.0 Playboy #1's. What is one of those worth? Flesh over comics? What's the world coming to? BTW, my friend did remark about the Hulk 1 copies I showed him in the HA catalog. He was sure that he had owned one, he was buying comics then as a teenager. I got him off of that subject, I know that he had to get rid of them way back then.

  9. My favorite is the gold suit. Oh yes, nice.
  10. Welcome, and I love #50 also, that isn't posted here much.
  11. All good. The probation thread has once again caused justice to prevail. Please consider Miamiknight3434 once again to be back in the good graces of the forum. Yes, and no.
  12. Actually its pretty well organized for the most part. 21 cabinets hold a lot of books A to Z at 600 per drawer these are all my main titles and sets I am working on. Its only that a computer crash with all my lists stops me from knowing at a glance what I have and which box things are in (about 100 long boxes of complete stuff in the loft) Very cool idea, the file cabinets look great for permanent storage.
  13. Well done, have a good time with friends, and use older stuff to trade for new old stuff that you've been after. Unlike Sheen, that's a
  14. These I have never had a picture of, so made scans today. Let me know if these look like decent scans, each took different scanner settings to look this way. The ASM 13 turned out the best, with only a slightly darker tone. The 12 and 15 took a while, as it was awful to try to reduce the purple effect.
  15. Thanks, I followed the suggestion given to me and cut out a window for the signature. That was smart because it kept the book protected except for that small area.
  16. Here's the best scan I came up with after adjusting the scanner settings for about an hour. This is not a very good scan, I don't like really it. The #15 was hell, the blues kept looking more like purple. The AF 15 didn't work well with those settings, and I began with default settings again. It just looked too dark that way, and not much helps to brighten it without looking over exposed. So I stopped with this, and plan to try that software that Barton suggested a couple of months ago.
  17. I have been fighting with my scanner with settings to try to get more natural pictures. Below are two pictures of the raw book before I sent it for Stan to sign. The color touch is one the brown in a few places, visible in these barely. The slight bleed through at the spine was easy to spot in hand. Given the one moderate spine stress at the middle, I'd bet this was a VF copy and someone decided a little work would let them call it a NM at a glance. The other edges and corners are all really sharp, I'd guess that the top overhang had some kind of dings to it, a minor cut etc. It looks like none of the pages were cut, just the cover.
  18. Ditto, pop in and say hello or anything. It is helpful to avoid the urge to bump your own thread regularly.
  19. I will make new scans of my collection soon. This is still the first appearance of Spider-Man, trimmed or not.
  20. Very nice #5 Tom, and you know I mean it(inner PQ of OW or better is fine by me). I saw page 500 coming, and wondered what should go here;
  21. Now if we could get some people to read the Constitution... Back to the ASM show;
  22. Thanks for your replies and insight Jim. I'm not picking at any one group or your profession. I do scrutinize laws when I happen to come across the details for some reason. I learned a good bit from the previous links posted a page or two back. Thanks to those posters and the links. The regulations regarding auction houses bidding, whether any auctioneer or the auction house, those need to be extremely clear and thoroughly publicized. I'm not saying the laws are wrong or bad, as I read them. I do wish it was more clearly stated by auction houses, exactly how they handle these issues, besides being buried in terms and conditions which few people read.
